I saw this on ESPN Insider, amongst other places.

While I think signing him would be pointless, what do other folks think?

Here is his entry at basketball reference.

Not exactly all world.

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

If Millsap is not taken and they can't sign Stevenson to the 11th and 12th roster spots, I guess it's OK.

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

How do you spell sound effects for throwing up? AAAAAAAAAhhhhrrrrrrrggggh! Splat!?!

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

He's a pretty good player...if he's healthy. Unfortunately, in 4 seasons in the NBA, being healthy has happened exactly 82 times.

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

rather give those minutes to Cunningham

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

The guy was the MVP of RMR summer league his rookie year. But he's nearly two years removed from microfracture surgery. I'm happy to hear the Blazers are giving him a look--if he's ever going to play again, this is his last chance.

Given our team's experience in dealing with microfracture surgery (Randolph, Oden) I'm happy to go along with whatever they decide. If he's actually recovering well, he'd be a really nice fit as a backup 4.

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

It doesn't hurt to have a guy who is deep on the bench that you can work with if they have talent. After all, does it really matter if it is Shavlick Randolph or Sean May down there at position 13, 14 or 15? Not really. So you might as well take a chance if you feel the player has upside possibility. That's what those spots are for.

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

May could be the backup plan to the backup plan, backup plan, backup plan's.

Sean May Twitter update!!

@BigMay42 Just finished workout for Portland! I thought it went really well! They have a great staff!Well see what happens

OMG he's gonna be a blazer! :ohno:

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

co-sign. And Jeffro

What minutes? The guys at 13 14 and 15 aren't getting any minutes besides garbage time. Even players at depth position 11 and 12 will rarely see minutes on the floor. If Sean May comes here, it is probably for a slow rehab, which the team has a record of having the proper patience in the past to bring a player back. Right now if Webster doesn't make it back, Cunningham might be the 2nd string SF. Hell after Batum starting last year, I wouldn't even put it past him to compete for the starting job. His offensive game was way more polished than Batum's.

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

I'd be fine w/ May if we didn't have a great big man rotation and already just sued 2 high 2nd round picks on bigs..

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

Sorry guys. I for one would much rather have May than Pendergraph backing up Aldridge.

His stats per 36 minutes are really good. He had MF surgery and got out of shape......no, too easy. I think if we brought him in and played him 12 minutes a night he would be brilliant.

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

He's part of the pending Gerald Wallace deal. :smiley-pray:

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

...this has to be a back-up plan to a trade scenario that could be in the works, depending on who is or is not signed :dunno:

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

Man, I really will be bummed if we get May. I would rather have our rookies get those minutes. I don't believe that he is a viable back-up. Hopefully I will be proven wrong if it happens.

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

Whenever someone tells me how Oden is going to be in such great shape this season, and fully recovered from the MF surgery, I think about May....and my inner child dies a little more.

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

May as a lottery pick was a bad move. May as a minimum or near-minimum guy? Not that bad. He's still only 25 years old and has always been offensively skilled. If he's healthy he would be a decent end-of-bench guy or maybe even backup 4.

He's more offensively advanced than either Pendergraph or Cunningham, but I would not be surprised if either/both of them are better defenders...

At least Oden doesn't have moobs. When I look at Sean May I see myself in the mirror (only a few inches shorter and I'm white). When I think of Sean May being on this team, my inner child cries. I like to see guys out there on the floor that are in better shape than I am.

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

You know if I believe right, his dad had the same injury problems that plague Sean. It might be more than a coincidence....

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

Sean May: A Poor Man's Ike Diogu.

Sean May: A Poor Man's Ike Diogu.

My guess is Ike Diogu knows how to party way more than Sean May. DNP-ogu as we called him. He was there to score chicks for the team. :devilwink:

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

Haha. Classic

His numbers really aren't that bad when he can actually play.

I liked Sean coming out of UNC. I think Charlotte just kills careers. If we have a roster spot, I'd be fine offering him a vet min. I don't think he chooses us, however. He won't get any minutes.

I wonder if he will have a choice of suitors?

Re: Portland Working out Sean May in Vegas

Yeah, neither are Diogu's.

I agree.

I am not saying he is the best FA out there, but I'd rather have him than a 2nd round draft pick backing up Aldridge in crunch time if needed.

Just because someone was picked in the 2nd round, doesn't atomically make him a better fit than a lottery bust.

Yeah, and I would rather Cunningham and Jeffro get those garbage minutes then May.
