I would trade CJ for Blake... anything else would create a salary cap nightmare. Also, ball movement will not improve as long as CJ is here no matter who we trade for.Would you take on Blake if Detroit didn’t ask for anything back except Whiteside and filler like Tolliver?

It’s not hate, I actually like CJ individually, I just don’t like him and Dame paired together. Especially eating over 70% of the salary cap. Them talking turns going one on one just kills the flow of the offense. The proof is in the pudding... DEAD LAST in the entire NBA in assist for 2 of past 3 seasons. Yes, they are individually talented enough to get hot and go on some runs, but that style is not sustainable for long term success. How do you account for the good ball movement in the first half of the Knicks game? McCollum played significant minutes in the first half. McCollum was also a significant part of the teams last year run to the WCF. Some of you guys have so much hate built in that it clouds your judgement.

I would just like to see what Dame could do with a different #2 option other than CJ with more balance to the roster... and he will turn 30 next season so time is of the essence to see if something different will work. Dame/CJ combo has had enough years already... time for something new before Dame gets too old and it’s too late.
Yes, again, I don’t have a problem with either one individually... it is about committing so much of the payroll to 2 players so ball dominant and ISO heavy... DEAD LAST in NBA in assist 2 of past 3 seasons30 is hardly old especially for a player like Lillard who is in phenomenal shape. It makes me chuckle every time I see someone acts like a player turning 30 will retire in a couple years. Lillard plays more iso ball than McCollum and he's the point guard. McCollum is a shooting guard.
I'm not as high on that as I used to be but yes I'd still do it if the cost was that low. The Blazers need a risk to pay off like that.Would you take on Blake if Detroit didn’t ask for anything back except Whiteside and filler like Tolliver?
So the Blazers need to take a risk but the just can't give up anything that would be a risk?I'm not as high on that as I used to be but yes I'd still do it if the cost was that low. The Blazers need a risk to pay off like that.
Yup, now you get it! The risk of Griffin is too big to give up anything of significance. So the Blazers need to take a risk but the just can't give up anything that would be a risk?
Why would ATL do that? They have no incentiveWhiteside to Atlanta for Brooklyn's 1st+Len+Parsons.
Why would ATL do that? They have no incentive
First they will go for Drummond, but if they miss on him it's possible they give it a try for Hassan. A 1st might be too much, but it will not be their first and Hassan has played good enough for someone to guve him a chance. I think Atlanta is done with young guys and now wants to win. They also have their project big in Bruno Fernando.
They have 7 wins so far this season, it’s a write off.
Atlanta has been active on the trade front, targeting center help and a backup point guard, according to sources. The Athletic Atlanta’s Jeff Schultz recently wrote a detailed piece about the Hawks’ roster and team issues. Within the locker room, a disconnect at times with the coaching staff and the team’s most important players has been apparent, league sources tell The Athletic.
“No energy, no one playing hard,” one source with knowledge of the Hawks’ situation said after a recent loss.
“This shit is depressing,” another said.
The Hawks (7-27) did not think they’d contend for a high playoff seed, but the players, led by star guard Trae Young and forward John Collins, did expect to compete. In the meantime, the franchise will remain active in building for the future because the infrastructure is there for success in Atlanta: Core pieces, a new facility, exciting ownership.
The Athletic Atlanta’s Chris Kirschner has reported that the Hawks have had interest in centers Steven Adams and Dewayne Dedmon. Dedmon, who signed a three-year, $41 million deal in July, wants out of Sacramento, as we reported last Friday.
They include a 1st for Drummond because he actually still fits a rebuild. Whiteside won't be a part of any young team's rebuild.I understand, but this is why i did not include their pick but Brooklyn's which cannot be inside lottery. Hassan can sign a two year contract with them during summer. Of course they can do so when he is unrestricted, but maybe they wanna check how he fits first. He is not much different in the style of play compared to Drummond. He is 4 years older thought so this is why they ll go for Drummond first.
In any case all i hear from their organization is how annoyed they are with their losses and that they have to start winning games, they cannot stand losing anymore etc.

Keith Smith on Twitter:Not so much trades, but as posted before, I would have liked to have seen Eric Mika (now China) with us. 20 ptts, 16 reb, 3.3 ast, and a block in 37 mpg over 6 games in the GLeague. 55% FG, and not a liability at the line. Also a big body, willing to show grittiness on defense. Soft touch around the boards. Huge missed opportunity, IMO. Not because he wouldve set the NBA on fire, but he wouldve been a terrific fit for us.
Gary Payton jr who can play on the ball and pick up opposing guards next to both Dame and CJ - he could be interesting, but probably isn't of focus now. Also Oregon guy.
Rabb could be worth a look. Double double with good defense and shooting over 30% from three. He didn't do much other than late his rookie year in the NBA, but I'd give him a look. I also like Justin Patton. I believe he's still under contract with the Thunder, but he's a good defender with upside. His injury history somewhat scares me though.
With Hood out, I'd take a look at Justin Anderson. He's still a big talent, good size, works hard. Now shooting almost 40% from three on a good amount of attempts.
Mayyyybe Parsons and a 2nd for Whiteside. Saves the Blazers about $2 million off their tax number.
He's over 6'8", lets sign him!Keith Smith on Twitter:
Former BYU standout Eric Mika has left Xinjiang in China to pursue opportunities in the NBA. Mika spent the preseason with the Sacramento Kings before being waived. In China he averaged 19.9 PPG and 11.7 RPG over 7 games played.
Rumor is Mika is in line for either a 10 Day Contract (they can be signed starting tomorrow) or a Two-Way contract for the rest of the season. He played really well during a short NBAGL stint earlier this year with the Stockton Kings.

Waiting for tomorrow when they can start taking advantage of 10-day contracts is literally the last excuse left as to why there isn't another big on the roster. They gotta do something. They need to add another big, it isn’t even a suggestion anymore. It needs to happen, and if it doesn’t, then Olshey needs to come out and say theyre punting the season and everyone is getting rested and nobody needs to waste money going to any of the games.
Btw Holdahl is of the opinion that they’ll be making use of ten day contracts.

All the lists I can find show players that I know have signed elsewhere so you have to figure it out by yourself.is there an updated list of available free agents somewhere
if Jaylen Hoard can't help as much as a 10-day signee, why do they have him on a 2-way....I'd wonder. And wouldn't they start playing Hezonja more if the just needed another body?
I've nothing against trying 10-day contracts, but that seems like putting a band-aid on fracture at this point
Because they need someone to play minutes at center, and no one on the roster is capable outside of Whiteside.
Well Tolliver isn't a Center, they keep trying to stuff that square peg into the round hole but he's just not.... Brown doesn't really get any consistent minutes and seems to just be kind of out there without direction.who is available that would definitely be better than Tolliver or Brown?
I guess a question is how long will Skal be out
I think you're looking at it wrong. It's not that they need someone better than those guys, they just need another body. 10-day contracts are a way to bring in another body without committing to a player for the rest of the season once we get bigs healthy and at the same time help keep the tax burden minimal for adding a player to the roster.who is available that would definitely be better than Tolliver or Brown?
