Still not really quoting any "Facts" about Paul Allen firing someone.

Keep digging then. Have at it.

If you think that Paul Allen would still have Terry Stotts coaching this team, then I don't know what to tell you. But for you to think that I was disrespecting Paul simply because I said that he died, is flat out ludicrous. You have yet to explain how that statement was disrespectful to him. If anything, I'm saying that I respected that he had very little tolerance for mediocrity, which is more than I can say for the current front office.

Okay so now it's "I think Terry gets fired"
I can go with that. Now you are stating an opinion and I could not say you are wrong at all.

No. That's me guessing on when it would happen. I'm still sticking with saying that Paul would have fired him by now as fact. It would have happened. There's simply no way that Terry Stotts is still the coach of this team if Paul Allen was alive.

I’m actually starting to not mind him much. There’s probably 3-4 games we would have lost this year if it wasn’t for him. His defense isn’t great but it’s not awful. The only time I really wish he wasn’t on the team is when his shot isn’t hitting haha. But that goes for everyone else on the team too

I'm with you, I've stayed low of the Melo bashing this year and think he's actually become an asset. For all the motion weaving we do to start our sets, we basically rely on iso basketball to score. Outside of Dame and CJ - who are among the best in the league at it - we don't really have guys that can create or get off their own shot. But Melo can and it's bailed us out at times. Plus, he's become a pretty good at the other skill requirement in our offense - kick out shooting. He barely rebounds and his defense is nothing to boast about, but I guess that's why he's a good complement to Covington and Jones, giving Stotts options depending on need.

He may be a progress stopper in the case of Little, but that's a consideration for next year. I like Little, but he doesn't consistently do the things we want a guy like him to do - be the hustle energy guy creating havoc and hands on every loose ball and finishing breaks. I think Little's logical replacement guy is Jones, who sorta/kinda (not that well) fill the hustle/energy role now.

Kudos to you for having the balls to admit publicly that you agree with Canzano.

Alas, I cannot. The answer is transparent - you said it. The plan is to get the team healthy. If the team is healthy, we're fantastic. Let me elaborate.

Best 3-guard lineup in the league, along with great defensive players. Let me list them:
Nurk
Collins
RoCo
DJJ
Little

If this team gels, we are a championship contender. However, it'll take time, and getting healthy isn't a given. But, saying there is no plan seems silly.

you're leading the league in 'if's'

the typical Blazer dilemma: a lot of people are expecting great things from Powell...that he'll somehow make Portland a contender. But if he's all that, he's definitely opting out. Portland traded Trent because of the fear they couldn't afford him. If Powell meets the expectations of many, Blazers won't be a able to afford him either

Not unless we trade CJ.

I'd rather have the ability to go over the cap to sign Powell, than I would Trent.

And since they don't have the cap space for to sign a better prospect than Trent, now they in essence do.

Powell already paying dividends - not because of the win. Because, if we were using Trent and Rodney, Coach wouldn't have let Lillard have a rest game.

I think he could have, as long as CJ was healthy. I think Powell makes it easier, though.

Not knocking Gary in anyway, I am a fan of his, but part of me wonders if his production is inflated because of the system here (Dame and Stotts). Look at the young players who looked passable as players in Portland and once they left, their #'s didn't hold.

It's obviously too early to know with Gary (and part of me hopes I'm wrong).

Fact: a thing that is known or proved to be true.

Opinion: what you float when whining about everything.

...also of note FWIW, GTJr and Hood played like absolute horseshit in their respective debuts. You could even argue that the Blazers would have lost the game tonight had this trade never happened :dunno: #WCF2021orbust

What is Norman projected to make? If Norman proves to be even close to CJ as a shot creator, I would rather have Norman at $17-20m/yr at sg than CJ at $33m/yr.

CJ trade could still happen this summer if we are a disappointment in the playoffs. We could finally bring in a real backup pg and play Simons at backup sg.
Dame/Powell/Covington/____/Nurkic.

Turning CJ into a wing and having enough cap space for Dragic over the summer would really balance out this team.

I think we should trade CJ for Siakam with CJ going to a different team. The kings would probably be interested in CJ since they want to make a playoff push.
Portland get: Siakam and Wright
Sac get: CJ
Raptors get: Hield or Bagley and Sac picks

That would certainly be the most competitive Blazers team we’ve ever had in my lifetime (I’m 23, never really got to experience the ‘77 team). I really am holding out a ray of hope that Collins can come back. I think Covington and Collins are both so good on help side defense that Powell/Covington/Collins and hide Dame on defense like the Warriors have done with Curry. It may take a coaching change this summer.

I would rather have Norm at the same price no doubt about it, my guess is 20-25 mil per and if we can sign him for that then trade CJ for a better fit on the roster

Does anyone have access to paid content on Oregonlive? There is an article "How and Why Trailblazers acquired Norman Powell". I would like to read it.

Need to put Jones in a position where he can be aggressive offensively and allow him get confident scoring more consistently. I've though from day one with him he plays like a bench guy like he was in Miami a bit hesitant to do his thing.
On the second unit he can be set free.

well, one thing you can do is open the article. The paywall box will come on saying you have to pay. Doesn't matter

go to the menu bar (I'm using Firefox, but other browsers should be similar) and click 'save page as'. In the drop-down menu, there is the option of saving the page 'type'. Two options here, one is 'save as text file'; you can then just save it to your hard drive and read it there. But that's a pretty unattractive format. You can also save it as 'Web Page HTML Only'. That will be a more attractive and readable format than just text, and include any images within the article. There's a lot of Olshey-speak bullshit and he spends plenty of time blowing smoke up his own ass, but there's some information there as well. It's by Fentress who is a sometimes good writer

now I have to worry about Canzano whacking me

He hasn't been hesitant and bringing him off the bench won't bring him out of Stoffense. He isn't a one on one scorer, he's a scorer that needs set up by the offense. Unless this is just pickup ball, the motion should be called for by the play not the initiative of the player. It seems to me that the offense calls for him to stand in the corner 90% of the time. Maybe I'm wrong though and it's pickup ball and he just needs to cut whenever he wants and call for the ball when he's open but usually NBA ball moves a little fast for things to work out that way.

If they push the ball more is when he would be allowed to use his athleticism more, just a thought? I don't think he's start at 3 on most teams.

Thanks. Here is what I learned so far. Reminded me that we have neither a first or second round pick in a really good draft class this year. Even though Olshey said we couldn't make trades because we have no draft capital, Reporter didn't ask if we could free up draft picks by guaranteeing the 2021 pick to Houston. Learned that Stotts believes if a player is down in a defensive squat on every possession that he is a better defender. (So why aren't all our players in that position?) Learned that one reason we didn't seek a taller free agent is because we have made a commitment to Melo. Olshey considers Nurk, Roco, Jones and Powell to be our four plus defenders and expects two of them to be on the court at all times.
