The crazy thing is that this decision effects us so much. If Kawhi goes to the Lakers then we have a very hard path to the finals. That being said, if he chooses to return to Toronto then we have a real chance of getting to the finals after the improvements Neil has made to the roster and the development of Ant. We're contenders either way but the Lake show would be tough to get by with Leonard, James and Davis.

While Kawhi cares for Toronto, they don't have much harm in his delay because they had no cap space anyways. It actually may give them a good feeling of being so close that Kawhi was torn.

Kawhi is regarded as the best player in the game. He won't be thought of as a role player to LeBron anymore.

If Kawhi doesn't sign with the Lakers, it really fucks their off-season. They now cannot sign free agents. It would be a total slap in LeBron and Magics face. It would show Magic couldn't close the pitch. It would drastically hurt a final year of LeBron prime, in an almost cruel way.
