Growing pains.I look at our previous game as the low point we can only grow from, we have the regular season to work on our game and hopefully make the playoffs
Yup. Also the people that somehow expect a complete defensive overhaul to be in peak condition in pre-season game number three during a shortened training camp...I always found it funny that when a team wins in preseason the people cautioning that it’s preseason are usually the same people that freak out when it’s a loss.
I agree. I also think you will get your wish. A couple days at altitude and another practice will help.I wanna see a reaction. Last game was unacceptable

A pre-season game is never unacceptable. It's a preseason game and don't forget that these aren't even regular preseason games. The first "preseason game" was December 11th that was after two days of "training camp" it's now December 18th so when the guys step on the court at the very most it will be their 9th practice... nine times have these guys been on the court together and that doesn't count Nurk who has been with his teammates for under a week. So to say any performance is unacceptable is just plain foolish. So after less than a week it was unacceptable for a new defense that incorporates two new starters and a couple of rotational players that weren't here the vast majority of last season, to be inconsistent or even consistently horrible which they weren't? Your overreaction and misunderstanding of the preseason along with a bunch of others in here is unacceptable to me.I wanna see a reaction. Last game was unacceptable

9 days... 2 or 3 without Nurk. What are we expecting from a new system with 2 new starters? Seriously, did you think it was going to look good in 9 days?!? Give it a little time "in the morgue" before you bury it, it might just surprise the hell out of you and come to life. There's a long way between expecting it to be in peak condition and it looking like it belongs in the morgue, though.

Yeah they did, we got started with our training camp a very crucial two days after everyone else (that's 2 days out of 11) because the team decided to close the practice facility for a deep clean (I'm not blaming the team, it's smart to be safe with COVID). So yes we have less preparation, we have two new starters that weren't with the team last season and are incorporating a new defensive scheme. It's my understanding that the Nuggets aren't dealing with any of that... so yeah they would be expected to look quite a bit more cohesive than we do... them after 11 days and us after 9. Oh and because of what I just said, I don't expect to get a better idea of anything tonight. They may play better or they may not but with under two weeks together as a team... the results tonight will be nowhere close to indicative of what the team can do. Nothing is unacceptable at this point besides knee jerk reactions.Did the Nuggets have more preparation than we did?
It all comes down to what you're working toward, doesn't it, when you are evaluating whether or not a performance is acceptable? Are the Blazers installing a bunch of new things that we can expect there to be a learning curve? Are the Blazers playing a bunch of new guys trying to get chemistry? Are the Blazers just letting guys get run to knock off the rust, or are they playing younger players?
I don't think any of the above apply. They didn't look like a team with any real idea of how to play or how to play together last game.
We'll get a better idea tonight whether that was an aberration or if there are things with this team that might become glaring problems. If it looks the same as it did on Wednesday and our rotation again is playing most of the game, it's reasonable to be concerned.
I will have Ducks on the TV and Blazers on my 17" laptop.likely won't see the blazer game. Will be watching the Pac-12 title game

too distracting
I'll probably bounce over to the Blazer game at halftime of the Duck game and during commercials. Probably. I won't bother recording the Blazer game though because according to many here, pre-season games don't mean shit
I don't give a crap about the last game. Every Blazers team I've rooted for has had dreadful games where you'd go, "what the hell was that", and think that they'd never win again. Coming tonight against the same team is the test. I have a lot of respect for the Kings the way that they were able to flip the tables on the Blazers in the second game at Moda. Tonight, the Blazers have to show up and, at the very least, challenge to beat the Nuggets. Hopefully, they'll win, but that's never easy in Denver.
I was honestly going to talk about how the purpose of pre-season games is not competing to win for a whole game. The purpose is for the coaches to see what they have, how that can be used and see where these guys are at in the implementation of new schemes and integrating as teammates in new roles.Yeah I’m more concerned with how we play, style-wise and effort-wise, than if we win.
But most are ILLOGICAL real time responses. We’ll let you know how things are going with a full play by play if you want to join the game thread? We know how you love reading emotional real time responses.
Precisely...its not winning formula for the most part. Our assist numbers will always be low due fact the players should be getting majority assist is the same players that put up the most shots.
