I missed this point in the presser

Buchanan said Greg Oden weighs "in the mid-280s."

Anyone think that's the real number?

Nate is a fucking idiot....

Yeah let's start Roy and play him 30+ minutes a night to see him put up 6-8 points and play "ole!" defense 3 out of every 4 nights....This organization is clueless and hopeless....

Make sure you run the slow down offense through Brandon, Nate....Aldridge clearly operates best when he is 2nd fiddle.....

and Brandon is bi-polar I swear, he says all the right things...team player...ok with coming off the bench....but when the season starts and Nate shows he actually has some balls and benches Roy when he isn't playing well....then, well, Brandon will start singing a different tune...whining about why he isn't playing (getting his minutes)...whining about why the offense isn't run through him...etc etc...fucking broken record....just like last year......

Remember, we have Matthews, Felton, Elliot Williams and Nolan Smith all sharing guard minutes this year, so Brandon could return to all-star form and not even get the 28 mpg he got last year as a hobbling bench player. We also lost Rudy, so getting to those minutes don't mean we lose a lot of resources in return should he actually gobble up those minutes, and I don't think any knowledgeable basketball fan would disagree that Rudy's best defensive night was at least equal to Roy's worst. I loved the hustle Rudy added to the roster, but I'll even man-up and quietly admit that Rudy couldn't defend Shaq if he chose to take him one-on-one to the hoop from the 3-point line. So it isn't like Brandon's "ole" defense is any worse than Rudy's allowing them to walk right past you defense in replacement of those minutes.

I love the idea of a healthy(ier) Brandon, but this is LA's team now. I sure hope Sarge and Brandon can accpet that.

Jason Quick

Roy’s agent: "He just wants a shot, and they are saying that they are going to give him that. If that holds true he is happy to be there.’’

And wait for it....

Blazers coach Nate McMillan says he will enter training camp with this projected starting lineup: Felton, Roy, Wallace, Aldridge, Camby

Thoughts, MM?

Will Camby be suspended for getting caught with weed back in the summer?

Charges were dropped. Either it wasn't really his weed, or his nephew (or was it cousin?) took the fall for him

Look if Roy is on the team, and you don't think Roy can play defense........don't you all agree that it is best if you put him in with LMA, Camby and Wallace? As oppossed to putting him in with younger players who are not as good with help D?

At first I didn't but now I do. Plus...

So it's official. Miller says we will not use Amnesty on Roy unless he's injured during preseason.

why do I have this feeling this is going to get ugly? IMO Wes is the starter unless Roy earns it in camp, you have to go upon last season, this may be starting as a clusterfuk god only knows how it will end

Who knows how it will end up, but I say add Roy to the mix and start the clusterfuk.

Disrupting chemistry vs. adding a potential weapon to the team. In this shorten season, I'm all for the risk reward mentality.

lets hope the "weapon" has some ammo for more then a small part of the season

Wes was a much better three point shooter as a starter. I hope that this doesn't throw him through a funk. We need more Wesley Matthews and less Roy drama. I hope that Roy doesn't throw a fit when things don't go his way.

Yeah. That way, all three can get into foul trouble covering for him. ;)

I will say this: If Brandon wanted to bail on the Blazers and go ring shopping, this was his perfect opportunity. He could have 'not' sold himself to Larry, Curly and Mo, they could have chosen amnesty, he still would get paid and could sign for the minimum someplace else. The bazillion dollar man seems to want to play in Portland, and he wants to play to best of his ability. I've been pretty rough on Roy for certain aspects of his attitude (deservedly so in my opinion) over the last two years, but the guy did not just mail it in once he got his contract, even though the injuries gave him the perfect 'out'. I'll give him credit for that.

Nice hyperbole. Brandon has received plenty of criticism over his D and lack of effort on that end, but last year (hampered by injury) there were times he was just painful to watch staggering around trying to keep up. I'm sure others can recall this too

well to be fair, miller cant shoot, so he isnt the best off the ball guy
Hate to be a nitpicker; but Miller has shot .459 for his career, compared to Damon Stoudamire .406, Nick Van Exel .405, Steve Smith .440 and right up there with Terry Porter .463 and Bonzi Wells .460.
Of course his shooting efficiency isn't so good since he doesn't shoot 3's well. But you are correct, he is not a good match with Brandon Roy or conversely one could say Brandon Roy was not a good match for Andre Miller.

I am sure he prefers POR over a place like Minny or Cle where he might of ended up as only under the cap teams can bid on him - he basically has NO opportunity to go right shopping as he has NO choice of destination

Minny has a chance to be pretty good. Cleveland? Well I guess it depends on how Irving pans out. Either place would be an OK place for a veteran guy to go and reinvent themselves as a short-minutes, role-player, bolstering young guys and trying to help them succeed (if Roy was so inclined).

I think that would be his worst scenario. If he is getting short minutes as a role player, then he would be better of with a veteran team. Boston, LA, SA, Miami
