Thread re-Hijacked!

9 points and 3 rebounds last night against San Antonio's second unit. Really? I mean, really?

Tim Duncan, who was sitting on the bench in a suit, must have wondered who #12 was for Portland. It certainly wasn't the same guy who destroyed him last time they faced each other. Nope. Our overlooked "All-Star" just couldn't force himself to get interested in the game, apparently, so he mailed it in the way Isiah Rider used to do.

Thankfully, we have a guy named Andre Miller who knew it was still a real NBA game that would count in the standings, and came to play. He and Gerald Wallace and Batum bailed us out on a night when Aldridge couldn't have cared less.

In the two games since you posted this thread, Aldridge has averaged 28 PTS and 11.5 REB on 0.556 FG%. So, why haven't you started a dedicated thread about how well he bounced back from one of his worst games of the season - about how proud you are of his most recent performances? Or do you only start negative threads and prefer to let the positive go unnoticed?

If you're going to bash the guy after one of his worst games of the season (and he's had very few truly bad games since mid-December), you should also give him props when he deserves it.

If I had to guess, Aldridge probably looked at the SA game as one to give himself a bit of a rest as the Spurs were basically taking the night off themselves. At some point, you have to rely on your teammates to get the job done. I'm not condoning it, but he's been back to being LaMonster since that game.

I had the good fortune of getting the NOLA broadcast of the Hornets/Blazers game, which featured David West for the second quarter as a commentator. His comments about LA were really insightful. He's taken the next step, and I'm thrilled for our franchise. Look at the game log; he's had five crap nights for the entire season: http://espn.go.com/nba/player/gamelog/_/id/2983/lamarcus-aldridge

The next test will be: Can he carry this franchise in the playoffs? Brandon hasn't been yet able to do it, so we'll see if LA is up to the challenge.

I should start making retarded threads about Aldridge then sit back and watch as people throw it back in my face a couple days later. I bet its a lot of fun.

That link shows that Aldridge has had extremes this season against the Spurs. He had his best game and 2 of his worst. Efficiency in chronological order:

eff..date..where on the list

19 Dec 12 middle
47 Feb 01 top - his best game of the season
11 Mar 25 near bottom
06 Mar 28 near bottom

The only game we lost was Dec. 12 (3 of their league-low 19 losses have been to us). Why did Aldridge go from one extreme to the other? I'm guessing that after the Feb. 1 game, Popovich concentrated his defense on Aldridge.

The rebounding arguments against LaMarcus always amuse me. I'm sure LaMarcus could grab 8-9 rebounds in his sleep - you know, provided in his sleep Portland wasn't running a switch defensive that left him on the perimeter guarding 6'2 guards.
a point worth a repost... there was at least 8 of these instances in the last two games with Chris Paul and Westbrook

I care about victories and victories alone. If you care about individual stats, become a Timberwolves fan. You'll have a great time.

You guarantee we will never see another post from you using individual stats?
