OT Question about Whiteside

Whiteside is an automatic double-double, and an amazing shot blocker, and finisher at the rim. Guaranteed.

He also has a real chance at being a legitimate offensive threat. an all nba player. Especially all defensive 1st team.

How is he not worth a max contract?

I don't know if anyone thinks that anymore. Gerald Henderson has really outplayed him the 2nd half of the season. And Henderson is the only guard we have strong enough to match up against some of those post up guards.

Whiteside is definitely worth 8 mil. He'll probably get near the max.

I agree, but this thread is about Whiteside. If you don't think Whiteside is a great rim protector what is your point?

Because he brought up blocks specifically as being somewhat irrelevant when the other team still puts up 59 shots (or whatever that number was).

I'm just saying there are stats that don't show up in the box score that a truly great shot blocker could provide.

If he is averaging 14 points, 12 rebounds and almost 4 blocks a game in 29 minutes per game, I doubt ANYONE will confuse him with Meyers or will he be near the lightning rod that Leonard has been.

Good point. I don't think HW will get a Max deal but because there are so many teams with money, he will get more than he would any other year.

I don't know of a lot of fans who thought he was crappy overall, just extremely frustrating in how he played the game.
