I agree with the first two parts. But no for the third, instead start CJ at PG.

Dame hasn't looked good for months going back to before the Olympics. Major concern that with multiple months available to rest prior to the season he couldn't get healthy. Have him rest, or come off the bench until he is back to his old self.

CJ despite his many faults has been the superior player this season.

Mike James averaged 20ppg on a bad team too. There’s been several non descript players that have conquered that 20ppg mark.

It is crazy CJ didnt want to make some effort to understand what KD was saying. He even mentioned same mins more shots but no CJ has pride. Too bad he doesn't show pride when a chair can blow past him.

The defense has been the problem. Much better defensive personnel than Stotts had with Kanter&Melo. Keeping guys fresh and energetic with less minutes to starters. Yet the team is possibly even worse defensively than their historically awful last season. Rebounding, Lillard hot/cold shooting, CJ's assist, etc won't matter when this horrific defense is taking place.

prior to Dame resting the last 2 games, about 123 of Portland's 240 minutes were being played by the 6'3 and under foursome of Dame-CJ-Powell-Simons. That's more than half of all of Portland's minutes. And we're not talking Avery Bradley or Marcus Smart type 6'3. We're talking the lousy defense of Dame-CJ-Simons and frankly, Powell isn't very good defensively either. And if you normalized for Dennis Smith and Mclemore then somewhere around 130 minutes a game have gone to the 6'3 and under troop. 6 of Portland's 14 players are 6'3 and under....for fucksakes that's 43% of the roster! It's lunacy

all the yappage about Powell's wingspan was just noise. The basket is still 10' off the floor and the Blazers will always be at a major disadvantage when more than half of their minutes are going to Frodo and his ilk

Portland will not be able to scheme their way out of this

a .557 winning percentage is an average of 45.7 wins in the regular season. That is only 4.7 wins above .500. Apparently, that's deemed a "success" in Olshey-vision

I see CJ getting a ton of burn with the 2nd unit already. I don't understand why starting or not has anything to do with our success. When's he's the #2 option on the court he gets buckets easier than when he's #1. I see our second unit as going 1 on 5 with CJ or Simons doing all the dribbling. It won't work in the long haul IMO. I do like the idea of a bruiser with some swagger down low to offset our "softness." Maybe a trade is in order <shrug>

tbf he said on I think richmans podcast a couple weeks ago that he didn’t think olshey would survive. I’m guessing he doesn’t really have sources and is just throwing his own opinions out there lolz

What worked under Stotts doesn’t work for Billups, and it’s creating some uncomfortable moments for the holdovers. Stotts let guys play with freedom and rely on instinct. Billups demands more structure, and requires more discipline and thought. Under Billups, mistakes are no longer allowed to slide because of your salary, your tenure or your contract status. Billups has won a title as a player, and he says he knows the Blazers have to become more aggressive defensively than under Stotts, and they need to share the ball more than they did under Stotts. When the players stray from that vision, they are being called out. During play, during timeouts, in halftime speeches and in film sessions. And from the looks of it, the exchanges are not going well.

Stotts and Olshey poisoned this team. It's time to blow it up and let Billups and the new GM start over.

A lot of guys are overpaid. I’d say more are overpaid than not. You think guys like Hayward, Wiggins, and Porzingis are worth $30M a year?

While yes it's other people's money the reason fans should care is because there is a salary cap. While CJ is a quality player, what percentage of the salary pie goes to him on a championship roster is a reasonable question. I don't think Hayward or Porzingis are consistently healthy enough to provide good vale at their contract levels regardless of their production. I do like Wiggins as a versatile long defender with some offensive skills. 30M is rich but the W's didn't care and weren't affected as they were already over the line mostly from retaining Steph, Draymond and Klay.
