Quick done covering the Blazers

A fallacy, a fallacy, I think I see a fallacy....

What does this have to do with anything anyone has said here?
When Carlito's involved, it's spelled "phallus-y," just so you know...

How will we ever get by without this kind of expert reporting?

Across the locker room, Roy is in his corner stall. He too had to bum two scoops off Blake and he is swigging the energy drink as I approach. With six games remaining I wanted to ask him about any further plans to execute a rookie initiation of Greg Oden after his first attempt with Outlaw failed in Milwaukee.

As he is answering, Webster is squealing across the way. Blake has passed gas and Webster is calling him out.

"And he stood up to do it!'' Webster laughs
.

Let's not forget about the expertisie behind Asses that are red

Simply Red

We all started talking about having "the red ass", and I mentioned that I've seen Blake get it more this season than ever.

There was a definite elbow to the kidney of Shane Battier in Houston, which Rockets coach Rick Adelman pleaded should have been a flagrant. There was a bull charge at Sebastian Telfair in Minnesota after Telfair hit Blake in the face on an inbound play.

"And don't forget San Antonio,'' Aldridge said.

Both Blake and Przybilla got a big chuckle out of that one ... when Blake squared up against the Spurs Fabrico Oberto, and Przybilla came in with backup.

It was agreed: both Blake and Przybilla are red asses.

"What is it,'' Przybilla asked Blake. "I never used to be one. Is it just getting older?''

"I think it's just getting sick of it over the years,'' Blake said. "It's like, 'I'm not taking this anymore.'''

It's an element that is developing on this team. I've written about it before, but there's some grit developing on this team. Some toughness. Brandon Roy is a tough guy. Przybilla will stand up to anyone - think Andrew Bogut, Tyson Chandler, Oberto ... and Blake can snap at any moment.

Then what do the Blazers go out and do that night against the Cavaliers? They played with grit, toughness and fortitude. After the game, Roy used words like "tough", "dirty", and "playoff" to describe the game. And the Blazers were right there. I don't think that should be lost amid everything that went on.

Not to defend the man (he probably still despises me), but me thinks behind the beat was just that......behind the beat. In other words, kinda exposing the idiosyncratic personalities, sophomoric behaviors, and the like, of otherwise grown men/fathers.

My personal opinion of Quick. He had some nice story lines. And with some of those story lines he dove right into them and they were heartfelt.

But honestly, I really felt he was a flake. I felt he was out of touch and not in tune what was reality with the team. I think he was sloppy with his work and his research behind specific topics was lazy for the lack of a better term. I also don't think his basketball iq was all that high. And the more, and more he wrote he exposed this. He whined to Golliver that all of things the players would tell him he bought into only to find out later it was full of crap. I'm not around the team. I don't know them personally. But a lot of things he said that he emphatically believed it in I thought was false. Nate McMillan being a 'great' coach for one. And then going to bat for him time and time again.

But that's not it. There is long line of things he believed was true. I knew was inaccurate. You want to talk about being gullible. Quick was that.

I can tell you first hand that the players didn't like all that stuff getting out there. They thought what happened in the locker room, should stay there.

This is what is tough. The readers want to hear what goes on in the locker room but the players don't want the writers to write about it. Is Quick's loyalty to the players or the readers? Blazers will say players and Oregonian will say readers. No matter what Quick chooses, someone will not be happy. As Blazer employees tend to not want to go against their employer (rightfully so), I suspect Quick had to follow the same path and not go against his employer.

btw, reading the article that was on BE, oh my god, Jason Quick sounds like he's a teenage girl.

I won't click on that tools website, refuse. Good for Nic to standup for the fans. Good man. And can't wait to see that bitch try to ask Nic for interview.

Batum just fired back at quick on blazersedge

"Not my problem"

I thought you meant tweet......and he didn't. You actually think Nic went to that website. My boy's in Europe getting ready for a big game vs Spain tomorrow. Somebody ban this clown.

"Nicolas Batum was probably one of my favorite players on this current team. I felt like we had a really good relationship. When he was going through all that crap, the Minnesota stuff. I ran into him downtown, right there at Director's Square, by the waterfalls and stuff.

Didn't Quick "run into" another player last summer and pull some quotes? I can see Quick in his car, trailing around NBA players so he can "run into" them.

Hey, what a coincidence!

Ur boy?! Hahaha yup u know him better then quick! He cares about u hcp.

I'm torn between putting you on blast or ignoring you. What is your beef with me? A lot of us around here don't respect Quick as a writer, some do. Who cares? Why do you type my name in every one of your posts? And I would consider Nic my boy. Chat when we are around each other..... follow each other on twitter......friends on Facebook.....grab a bite on rode trips...... Not sure what your definition is of being someones boy is, but I consider him one. Feel free to leave me out of future posts man, you aren't bringing enough to this forum for me to worry about.

I'm just pointing out the facts I guess. Someone has to cut through homerism. U and the mikes are the poster boys for it.

Batum did exactly what I wanted him to.... And that was prove these players give two shits about reporters, camera man, announcers, etc. U make think u have a cool relationship with them but underneath they could care less if they ever see u again. Do u think nic Batum would tweet u if u got fired tomorrow it? It's the way it is and most athletes are selfish and out for themselves. Poor Jason just got thrown under bus by Batum.

I remember when I was younger, wondering if maybe I was just smart enough to pass off as a regular joe, but too stupid to realize that I wasn't able to converse with someone and still be able to make a lucid point.

I could give a fuck about the players love lives and towel cracking in the locker room. If they're breaking the law/threatening lives with DUI's and such, I care but beyond that it's basically meh... I tune in to watch good hoops and know I'm hardly the only fan like this so your premise doesn't hold water

Hey mixum, shut the fuck up. Take your tired trolling act elsewhere. Nobody here likes you, nobody respects you and nobody gives a shit about anything you have to say. Your act is old, tired and boring. You have actually managed to become a caricature of your pathetic self.

Mods: delete if you must. Just saying what everyone else is thinking. You banned this troll once. I have no idea why you let him back in under a different username. He detracts from the quality of discussion and enjoyment of this forum.

True, I think there are a lot of fans who don't care what the players do in the locker room or during their time outside basketball. But there are also a lot of fans that do care. In this thread alone some fans talk about how they enjoyed that series inside the locker room. And my guess is there are plenty of fans interested in what goes on in the locker room.

I'm guessing many people read that series by Quick (more people than usual for his articles) I understand players don't like it and I get that. But that kind of stuff sell, IMO. (look how well the gossip shows do with celebs . . . that paparazzi stuff is big money)

As a fan of the team I could give two shits about what goes on outside the court. But, it is interesting gossip to ponder when you see interactions on the court.

Carlito doesn't write like Mixum. He writes like Mpls did on ESPN. Hey mods, is Carlito posting from overseas, specifically the Orient?

I have to spread more rep before giving it to Stomp.

Frankly I don't give a damn what they say in the locker room, it's probably better I not know! I care about how they play and how the represent the team and city.

I work in biotech. Would you refuse our cancer drugs if you knew what inside jokes we tell? Or what I wear to work?

I am bored silly with celebrity worship where Kim Kardashian's hairdo gets headlines but real life issues are buried on page 32. Roy's relationship with his wife is between him and his wife. If he (or she) gets it on the side, and all parties are consenting adults, it is simply not my business.

Repped (and proxy-repped STOMP for you)!
