Toney Douglas is a PG? Thats news to me.

He got matched up with Landry Fields quite a bit, playing the PG spot over the last couple of seasons.

Ed O.

You are forgetting about his epic 0/7.2/7.2 PER 36 numbers with the Blazers

you're also forgetting the 40 he dropped 2 days after getting blitzed with papaG back in the day.

Same old hype about being serious about building a championship contender, then ignoring all available superstars and settling for a new bunch of scrubs and backups.

And of course another coach trainee with no experience.

PA's so predictable it's like watching a soccer game.

OK Marris I will bite. Who did you want to go all out for? Deron Williams , Hiibert and Gordon were the prizes. Indy was the cheapest of the three. Who did you want?

I can't forgive Brian Shaw for that three pointer at the end of the 3rd quarter.

I think craigehlo's theory is the most plausible: Olshey will bring over Freeland and has promised him minutes -- no room for Hickson in that scenario.

That makes sense, I could definitely see that being the case. My initial reaction to Quick's comment was that JJ must either have a poor attitude in the locker room, at practice, or blow a bunch of plays on the court that are hard for us viewers to pickup on TV. The team studies analytics and game films we never get to see.

If we picked up a couple veterans at the draft, possible all-stars then I'd have wanted to see an established coach like DAntoni. But now, even if we get Hibbert we will be a younger team that will need some patience. I don't think the extra dollars those candidates cost would be a cost effective use of Paul Allen's money. Better to save it for using when we become a contender. Shaw is such a proven assistant I don't think there is too much downside but he could have the upside of a valuable coach. So yes I like the Shaw hire if that's what ultimately happens.

Nightmares. I want nothing associated with that game to ever be associated with the Trail Blazers ever again.

Quick on the game? Don't they pay him enough at the Oregonian?

Said a couple of items worth mentioning

1.He and Berger both believe Shaw is the guy. Quick reaches out to Shaw's agent a few times a week, and it has gone from no offer yet, to no comment. Also believes it is one of the main reasons Hibbert is interested in joining Portland.

2. No new Blazer news, but thinks today could be a news day for the Blazers (might have said big news day, but I can't remember.)

3. Thinks Thomas will obviously be back unless included in trade, does not think Portland has any interest at all in bringing back Hickson.

4. Thinks adding a PG like Toney Douglas for basically nothing is a perfect scenario for Portland.

Apparently this was the Brandon Roy and or Nic Batum to the Wolves news. Nice job Quicker

In my day, you praised a reporter for TELLING you the news, not for playing coy and NOT telling you.

I think they're just going to wait and see what happens with Hibbert before they make a move for Hickson. I can't believe they'd have no interested in Hickson after how well he played for us last year, but Hickson may have played a little too well earned himself a larger salary than Portland would be willing to pay for a backup.

I don't think there is any way Hickson is back. Reading the article I posted, makes it sound like if Hibbert says no, they will rebuild. If Hibbert says yes, we have to renounce Hickson

The Blazers would need need bodies though, and need to reach the minimum salary is 49 million, so I'd like to at least see us sign JJ to a one year deal.

Why would Hickson do that when he has other suitors?

He has other suitors because Olshey wants to "swing for the fences," pursuing only big stars. But they don't want to come here until we have an inventory of good non-stars like Hickson.

This summer Olshey will spend that same $4.3M on someone worse than Hickson, who was a bargain.

Olshey thinks like a Clipper.

if you think a) Hickson would sign for less than 4.3M guaranteed (however many years on the deal) or b) that he's worth more or c) that he's an effective use of cap space, you're the one who's going to be in 30 of 32 lotteries.

WAS is the operative word in that sentence. On a rookie deal, Hickson wasn't horrible. As a FA, not so much. He's not worth transferring your Juwan crush to.

Duncan, Nash, Kidd, Allen, Billups, Garnett, Lin, Lopez, Mayo, Terry, and of course signing and trading for some of the players likely to be traded like Howard.

I don't really know what to say to this list. Your plan was to add an older vet to a young team for what purpose? I am not sure why Duncan, Nash, Kidd, Allen, Billups, or Garnett would possibly want to play on a lottery team or why they are a better option than Hibbert? Lin and Mayo you could have an argument, but I would still disagree. But we are all entitled to our opinions.
