It was probably reported that way, but the way we got on the topic was this clip in the "other baseball" forum of a high school pitcher and catcher allegedly conspiring to nail an umpire in the face with a pitch. You could make the same claim for that pitch being accidental, but after knowing the circumstances leading up to the incident and watching it on film, you might draw a different conclusion. For me, it's the same way for Carter. He was frustrated that whole game and was getting into it with the refs about a bad call just prior to knocking the guy down. It could have been an accident, but it also could have very well been premeditated. I think it's up to the viewer to make the call on that one.

Not to mention Carter didn't even check to see if the ref was okay after the hit. He just walked towards the bench.
Actually, I even remember him throwing his hands in the air as the initial contact occurred. I'm thinking Vince was well aware of who knocked into him. I would love to see the video again, though.
