This takes the cake as one of the dumbest statements I've ever read on a message board. The difference between the Rangers and Knicks is not even comparing apples and oranges. It's pencils and steak knives. Not that I should have to point it out but the Knicks have one playoff series win since the 99-2000 season and this will be the 12th losing season in that span. It's a silly comparison either way because no Knicks fan including myself was walking around in the middle of those runs endlessly complaining about how the team sucked and how they were never going to win. In other words it was actually quite an enjoyable time to be a Knicks fan. Sadly, yes they came up short against Houston in 1994 but it doesn't take away from what those teams did. They had a solid club and the hope was they would be able to get by the Bulls and win a title.

This current Ranger team has gone to the ECF in three of the last four years and to the finals once. They're in a good spot to go back the playoffs this year but yeah lets gut the team and start over as if that makes any sense.

Thinking a certain way is one thing. Shitting all over the board when an opponent scores a goal or the Rangers lose a regular season game is the ridiculous part. Not to mention their wins are followed by either complete silence on the board, complaining about the games they win anyway or the finding of some excuse for the opponent they played and beat.

This is a veteran heavy team with a core of players that have played a ton of post season games - Many as a #1 seed or even Presidents Trophy winning team. I don't love how some of these games have played out but it's such a long season especially when you have played all those playoff games the past 4-5 years knowing that ultimately you are only measured on how you do in the playoffs.

My point is the season is a grind - Even more so when your team has been thru all these playoff series in recent years and not won a cup.

I don't expect the Rangers to be more then the 2nd or 3rd best team in the Met come playoff time record wise. I don't really care either. But I do want them to be healthy. I don't think this team cares that much about their record. Sure they need the points to get in but the real stuff starts in a month.

For everyone bashing this team and their lack of a cup with this core you are crazy if you think any Eastern Conf teams want to play against them in the playoffs - Especially if the are healthy which they were not last year and still came within 1 goal of the finals in g7 vs TB.

This team doesn't care that much about the regular season they will get in the playoffs and that's what matters.

Caps have the best team in the East on paper but NYR are in the next tier and seeds don't mean crap when it starts. Give me a healthy Zuc and McD this year and see where the chips fall.

I don't care if they won tonight. Red Wings deserved to win tonight, they dominated the game. I would have had the same mood even if they won this stupid game, that basically was played brilliantly by one player, Lundqvist. The rest of this team plain sucks. They defend most of the games and unable to get the puck deep below red line most of the time. This is not hockey! If they cannot play competitive hockey, then don't play. I don't know, maybe AV and coaching staff are at fault, but nevertheless there is not much to be positive about this year based on what I am seeing this year. How many games were lost late this year? Even during Torts years I don't remember them loosing so many games late in the 3rd.

Dis, I did not see your post! I agree with some of what you are saying, but this team is too soft for the playoffs. They will be run over by the Isles and Caps. They did not add physical players that wins in playoffs, or like Valiquette suggested, a "rat" like Shaw. This will be a repeat of last year. I agree, if Zuc and Mac, Stall, Yandle and Girardi were healthy last year we could have made it to SCF and I actually believe this team can beat the Hawks. I think we matched well against the Hawks, but this team would never beat the Caps.

Crown the Caps in the East already. Well ok but you should look at their playoff history after the 2nd round the past 40 years.

I will go to war with Hank and this roster in April May and June vs anyone.

There are only about 6-7 teams every year that can even SNIFF the Cup. Guess what we have one of them. Team has flaws but it's been a good ride for a team w 1 top 5 pick in 20+ years. At least wait for the ride to end before you build the tombstone.

Disturbed, in regards to Caps...This year they are a complete team. I hate that team, but they are very very good. They are deep at every position, they have very good centers, two amazing lines, very good defense and now they have the goalie. Their playoff record in Ovechkin era was with horrible defense and horrible goaltending.

I think Brassard, Zucarello line with Nash or Miller is great. I believe that is as good as any other top line in the NHL. Brass and Zuc are amazing! They are my favorite two players outside of Hank. The rest is average to below average. On Defense I have no complains actually. Yes Girardi is slow, yes Stall is slow and sucks, yes Boyle is a dinosaur, but it is as good as any other defense in the league. It is all on Hank, he has to be perfect.

If you do, you're the dumbest bastard of all time because all they did was state Lundqvist and every one of our players sucked and had no trade value. For all we know, the morons are here with another handle.

This board is nothing like the old days. It's that you have turned into a bunch of liberal, old farts and can't take any opinions that aren't the same as your own. The board hasn't changed. You have. You're old geezers now. Rangers fans for the past 70 years have been negative and cynical. Nothing has changed. They have a right to be that way with one cup in 75 years. I've never been in favor of trading high picks and top prospects. I've stood by that for the last 15 years on chat boards. It's not the way to run a team. You can trade a high pick but you have to trade players at some point to get them back. They Rangers don't do that. They keep pissing away prospect after prospect, pick after pick, never re-stocking. It's a losing strategy.

To show you the desperation that some of the old farts on this board are showing, they are now going by the idea that a vet team doesn't care about the regular season and will turn it on in the playoffs. Honestly, that's a pretty sad reach. It's almost as if people are watching these games with their eyes closed and don't understand the league. The Rangers defense other than McDonagh is slow. Boyle is horrific. Skjei should play the rest of the year with his great speed. McIlrath I can understand if he doesn't play in the playoffs if Skjei is in there. I would not play Boyle at all and thickheaded AV needs to ditch the idea of 3 righty and lefty defenseman. Because the Rangers went for so much speed up front a few years ago, the rest of the league copied it. Now, the Rangers defenseman are too slow other than a couple. The league will once again change. Defenseman with speed are going to be the new big thing. The Rangers don't have that other than McDonagh and Skjei. McIlrath has the reach to make up for a bit of slow skating. Staal, Girardi, Boyle and even Klein are either too slow or are getting there.

I'll hope for the best but I'm pretty confident at this point that this team is going nowhere in the playoffs. I've seen nothing to show me they are. Then, the team must be completely broken apart in the off-season and rebuilt. They includes getting back loads of picks, prospects and selling off as many older players as possible. That means asking Girardi to waive his no trade clause. Moving Nash. Moving Klein. Getting rid of Glass. Moving Hayes.

At this point. I don't even know if there is one player on this team I would consider a core player other than Hank. McDonagh I guess but in the right deal, he could go. Though, as I said, our defense other than him and Skjei are slow.
