QUOTE (Mitchell)

T.J. Ford and Jose Calderon alternated at point guard for Toronto, although Mitchell said Ford would remain the starter.

"These guys don't have egos," he said. "We feel that, combined, we've got the best 1-2 point guard rotation in the league."

Really? Better than JKidd and DStrong?

Ok so DStrong isn't officially on the team yet, but so what.

Yes, I have to say better together then Kidd and Dstrong. Ford brings quickness, play making skills and the ability to get guys open. Calderon does the same thing, just as well, if not better with a pass first mentality. They can both start or come off the bench, and lead their team to victory.

JKidd is amazing...but then theres a huge dropoff when Armstrong will be on the floor, common your a NJ fan didnt you see how Calderon abused Kidd in game 6 of the playoffs? Thats even when he was injured.

Darrell Armstrong???

So this is the high quality Nets forum I hear about lol...

Well, Jason Kidd almost single handedly beat them in the playoffs, carried Marcus. I think Kidd/Armstrong is on another level, with more talent, more experience and more ablility to control the game.

Ok, Armstrong cannot control the game. Ford can beat him any day with his quickness. That tandem is not on another level. Kidd is on his own level, but that is it. Calderon and Ford, with a hear under their belt together, will not get owned by Kidd this year. Our tandem is way better then Kidd and Armstrong. I would take Calderon/Ford over Kidd/Armstrong any day.

Whatever coming into the season I rather have Ford/Calderon as my PG duo then Kidd/Armstrong.

Kidd and ghoti > Ford and Calderon.

And it isn't really close.

Get real.

Abused is a strong word. Calderon/Ford failed to get other players involved, Ford especially. But this was the gameplan. I'm not saying that the Raptors aren't fast or tough to guard, but I think the playoffs as an example is more a product of gameplan. We wanted to funnel the points through the guards and we did.

I was about to say, I'd take Kidd > Ford and Calderon, so you could have Mini Sly playing backup PG for the Nets and I'd still take them. Playoff minutes would be a concern though ;-)

The quote is "The best 1-2 PGs in the league" not the best PG in the league because then there wouldnt be an arguement but with Ford and Calderon there really is no drop off in talent if you watch any of the Raptor games. For examplen when Ford went down with an injury midway through the season last year Calderon got the start and put up double double numbers. You have to be a true homer if you are saying Armstrong is a great PG at the moment.

The Nets don't match up well with Calderon at all. They had no one on the entire roster that could effectively guard him, and he was criminally underused by Mitchell in that series.

The Nets wanted the smaller, weaker, less dangerous Ford in the game. Kidd physically dominated him on the offensive end and was able to rest on him defensively because the more shots he takes the better it is for the opponent.

We'll see how this plays out during the season, I guess Mitchell just annoys me.

The Nets' backup PG is Marcus Williams.

Armstrong should be compared to Darrick Martin.

Any way you look at it, the Nets are infinitely stronger at that position than the Raptors (and just about every other team).

How about Jack/Blake/Rodriguez/Green for pure depth to compete with Toronto? Nash and his backup would also compete with Kidd and his backup.

Booo, you guys are underrating the Raptor's PG...I bet Ford or Calderon could start on probably 15 NBA teams right now.

Jack/Blake/Rodriguez/Green is a solid group but there's no stars out of those four.

And I don't like Marcus Banks. I like him less than Marcus Williams, and I don't even think he's that much better than a 39 year old Darrell Armstrong.

Yeah but the thing is I'd take Kidd/Marcus/Armstrong over Portland's bunch. I think those three combined trump those four. Armstrong is a freak of nature at 39, Marcus has alot of potental and talent, and Kidd is Kidd.

I think Toronto has way better depth then Portland, and better PG's. Ford is beet then Jack and Calderon is better then Rodriguez. Plus our bench is better too. Garbo, Delfino, Calderon, Rasho,Graham, Dixon, Jackson, Humphries, Baston, Moon.

As for better PG's between Kidd and Nash, I gotta go with Kidd overall, Nash is a better passer. Kidd can do so much because he knows how to read rebounds, and he can do it all. Nash is a great teammate who can through it anywhere and get the ball in your hands.

Yeah, it would be soooo much better that he trashes his own players. What is this world coming to when a head coach displays confidence about his roster to the media?

Realize who else is in the division? We just won our division, we can talk however we want. We have a very good team, and we are young. If I had Calderon and Ford on my team, I would boast all day. Do you not understand how valuable Calderon is? Teams with cap will through 6-7 mill at this guy, maybe more.

How about Lakers?

Derek Fisher , Jordan Farmar, Javaris Crittenton, Sasha Vujacic, Coby Karl.

I think Kidd/Marcus/Armstrong are very solid right now.

I'm sorry to say about this, But the Nets just beat the Toronto in the First Round, Jason Kidd almost handled Ford/Calderon by his own while Marcus was a rookie.

Lmao, I've seen better PG depth in the WNBA.

Kidd/Laptop/Armstrong is a pretty solid core, but Ford/Calderon/Dixon I guess isn't to bad. We don't really have a 3rd point guard. In my mind, Calderon is better then Laptop. While Ford is better then Armstrong. Calderon is always a tough match-up for Kidd, while Ford sometimes has trouble.

Also, so what? Nets beat us in the first round. Kidd has trouble with Calderon, and it was our first time in the playoffs in over 5 years. We had 9 new guys and we won our division. So please, Kidd is a great PG, but he won't be winning a championship with the Nets.
