To me, this was really an average movie. The acting was corny and it was very predictable. The only thing saving it from a 4 was the battle scenes and the cinematography

I do agree, I didn't want to voice that though. Some people here, and no...not you NTC, are in love with Denzel's performance in that. I didn't want to spark a debate in this thread. I felt Denzel's acting in that movie was way overrated. I prefer watching him in Man on Fire.

I noticed people are very mixed on 300. Not here at least. Some say it is the movie of the year, others say it is a cheese fest with good fight scenes. I'll have to judge for myself when it hits DVD as I don't think I'll be paying full price at the theaters.

Yea, I'm watching it tomorrow on Imax. Looking forward to it, because the feedback I've gotten has been split pretty evenly.

The feedback I got was also split. The only reason I went to see it is because I had some issues with Best Buy, for the first time in my life, so they gave me a free movie ticket to go see it. I utilized it. The fight scenes were great, but that's about all that was great.

It doesn't hold against Gladiator, which is what people tell me it compares to.

Saw this masterpiece again...

"I have existed from the morning of the world and I shall exist until the last star falls from the night. Although I have taken the form of Gaius Caligula, I am all men as I am no man and therefore I am a God."

I've never watched the movie, but the wikipedia article I read about it said that it was explicitly pornographic and got panned almost universally by critics. Just interested to know why you think it is so good.

I Think I Love My Wife - 6/10

Some funny parts, a lot of corny parts. I guess it was a good message at the end.

Anyway, it was just a way for me to waste 2+ hours of my life. I'm glad I only paid $5 on bootleg.

I saw 300 today.

10/10.

I absolutely loved it. I mean, the fighting scenes were incredible, but I didn't find anything wrong with the storyline. It was a bit like Spartan propaganda, but I thought they did a great job of getting into that mentality. The narration was pretty cool and it just gets you pumped up. The best take on the Battle of Thermopylae Ive ever seen, even if it was exaggerated a lot. I actually like it more than Gladiator. Gerard Butler > Russell Crowe.

Phantom of the Opera.

Anyway, Caligula is a gross movie. I would also like to know why Sasha liked it.

TMNT - 9/10

Say what you may, but I loved the movie. It was pretty kiddy and what not, but I could have cared less. This movie made me feel like a kid again, and I don't really consider that a bad thing. The movie was rather funny, the action sequences were simply amazing (especially the Raph/Leo fight), the CG was some of the best I've ever seen (rain effects = awesome), and in the end, it lived up to my expectations and then some.

300 was amazing. It was kind of short for the magnitude of the story it's telling, but overall, the fight scenes were off the chain. Just a testerone level-pumping movie. I came out of it ready to fight anyone.

Not to mention the Queen of Sparta was beautiful.

I probably should've been more clear. I meant Gerard Butler in 300 > Russell Crowe in Gladiator.

300 is getting really bad reviews in Europe from what I've heard. I'll have to see it for myself on DVD when it hits the shelves at the video store.

A lot of people seem to think it condones fascism/war or stereotypes Persians. There have been a lot of reviews that picked up on "disturbing implications" like that. I don't know, it seems like (1) people don't have any knowledge of what Sparta was or (2) they're trying to find historical accuracy from something based off a comic book. I thought it was a good "epic" movie. The battle scenes were incredible, the background story was interesting, and the characters were compelling. As long as you're not looking for some secret political message behind it, you'll be entertained.

lol, maybe its just me, but I thought that movie was overrated. The storyline was implausible and did just enough to transition from each battle scene. And Russell Crowe won an Oscar for speaking the few lines that he had as depressing and monotonous as possible.

I dunno, I'm partial to Romans. I found Gladiator to be absolutely amazing. I found the fight scenes to be amazing as well. To each his own, bro.

To be fair, I didn't hate 300, I just thought the acting was corny and the plot was fairly predictable. Amazing fight scenes though.

I did hate Sin City, though.

Well it is based on a true story.

Holy crap, I had to laugh a few times at how those kids are taught things.

I watched 300 before.

I don't see what you guys are seeing. It's good. It's not fantastic. I think Gladiator is better.

8/10. Basically seemed like Carlito's Way set in South Central, still good though.

The first time they had to pair skate together. OMG I laughed so hard I had to throw my sense of humor away because my stomach almost got in knots laughing so damn hard at that scene.

Deja Vu: 10/10

Stranger than Fiction: 5/10

I saw 'em both on the plane back from Thailand last night. Deja Vu is excellent, really gets you thinking. Denzel Washington was great. Stranger than Fiction was dissapointing, the plot sucked and Will Ferrell's acting was wasted. It's a comedy, but it isn't funny.

I watched Deja Vu yesterday as well. Was a good movie. I give it 9 outta 10

Also saw Reign over me with Adam Sandler and Don Cheadle(?), not a bad movie.

8/10

oh man I just watched Hostel.

Sickest, Goriest, most pointless movie ever made. I have never been sick watching a movie before but some of those scenes made me want to throw up.
