I think you're the only person who follows Nolan Smith on twitter.

It was from the link that Wizard Mentor posted. Learn2internetz. I just decided to pull it out of the link and use the fancy Twitter handling on this forum.

Nate is still pissed over being banned from the Duck forum.

I always knew he was a troll. Remember the way he used to goad PapaG?

He was banned for being a jinx. Every time he would post MSU would score. He finally stopped posting and the Ducks immediately came back and won the game. It was really strange. We're going to have to keep an eye on the game threads when the Blazers are playing.

I'm actually a USC and Laker fan. I'm running the long con.

As soon as Adam Silver gets on the stop domestic abuse bandwagon, what happens to Jason Kidd? Bet he's sweatin'.

He needs to change his twitter wallpaper, I don't want him associated with the Blazers at all.

Hahahahaha! Someone must have said something to him because Nolan removed his twitter wallpaper and all mentions that he plays for the Blazers.

Too funny!

what do you tell a woman with two black eyes?

to contact the authorities immediately in order to file a police report detailing her assault

I'm not even going to bother arguing with people who think the railing was to blame or that the NFL ruined Rice's life and he should be offered anger management or that the spouses are both over it so we should just move on too... but I want to share my experience with domestic abuse. There is nothing funny about it.

I lost my best friend in 1987 to a domestic dispute: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/...1_lake-michigan-badly-decomposed-body-stabbed

and about a week and a half ago another one was taken: http://www.kctv5.com/story/26450485...-girlfriend-was-an-inmate-out-on-work-release

This stuff escalates. Believe me, this isn't the first time Mr. Rice has hit his girlfriend/wife (it was just the first time he got caught) and it will not be the last. Hopefully she will survive unlike my friends. There is no excuse for him.

Buh Bye Goodell.

I'll believe that Goodell loses his job when I see it. He seems like a pretty major power broker. Of course, if the NFL starts losing sponsors, the owners might fire him. But probably not unless that starts happening, IMO.

Either way, this is going to get worse for Goodell and the NFL before it gets better.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — A law enforcement official says he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive three months ago, while league officers have insisted they didn't see the violent images until this week.

The person played The Associated Press a 12-second voicemail from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks and says: "You're right. It's terrible."

The law enforcement official, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation, says he had no further communication with any NFL employee and can't confirm anyone watched the video. The person said they were unauthorized to release the video but shared it unsolicited, because they wanted the NFL to have it before deciding on Rice's punishment.

The NFL has repeatedly said it asked for but could not obtain the video of Rice hitting Janay Palmer — who is now his wife — at an Atlantic City casino in February.

The league says it has no record of the video, and no one in the league office had seen it until TMZ released it. When asked about the voicemail Wednesday, NFL officials repeated their assertion that no league official had seen the video before Monday.

The person said he sent a DVD copy of the security camera video to an NFL office and included his contact information. He asked the AP not to release the name of the NFL executive, for fear that the information would identify the law enforcement official as the source.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell initially suspended Rice for two games following the February incident, but the Ravens released Rice on Monday and the NFL suspended him indefinitely after the website TMZ released the video.

Goodell told CBS on Tuesday that "no one in the NFL, to my knowledge" had seen a new video of what happened on the elevator until it was posted online.

"We assumed that there was a video. We asked for video. But we were never granted that opportunity," Goodell said.

In a memo to the NFL's 32 teams on Wednesday, Goodell said that the league asked law enforcement for the video, but not the casino. "In the context of a criminal investigation, information obtained outside of law enforcement that has not been tested by prosecutors or by the court system is not necessarily a reliable basis for imposing league discipline," he wrote.

The video, shown to the AP on Monday, is slightly longer than the TMZ version, and includes some audio.

Rice and Janay Palmer — now Janay Rice — can be heard shouting obscenities at each other, and she appears to spit at Rice right before he throws a brutal punch. After she collapses, he drags her out of the elevator and is met by some hotel staff. One of them can be heard saying, "She's drunk, right?" And then, "No cops."

Rice had been charged with felony aggravated assault in the case, but in May he was accepted into a pretrial intervention program that allowed him to avoid jail time and could lead to the charge being purged from his record. A prominent New Jersey lawmaker called Tuesday for that decision to be reviewed.

Hours after portions of the video were made public by TMZ, Goodell suspended Rice indefinitely and Baltimore terminated his contract. He had originally been suspended for two games, and team officials had praised him for his apologies and actions after his arrest for aggravated assault.

Goodell and team officials said they were taking more severe action because of the violence in the video.

I think Goodell has to go. He has lost all credibility. That voicemail is pretty damning.

The woman clearly meant, "You're right (we got the package). It's terrible (it's on a DVD instead of Blu-ray)."

Goodell to Saints after bountygate: "ignorance is not an excuse".

Hey, I have a great idea. At the next Ravens home game, let's set up a guillotine and chop off Ray Rice's head. That's what everyone seems to want, you know, so we can all feel so morally fucking superior.

I've made my position of what he did clear. However, this bloodlust is making me ill.

Rice should be in jail for that punch.

That said, Rice might have a legal case against the Ravens and NFL. Both the Ravens and NFL handled this wrong and have been in cover their ass mode.

Perhaps. I'll let law enforcement and a jury decide whether that's the case.

Bottom line, Mike Vick is back in the league. Ray Lewis was treated like a hero by this league. Suddenly there's a videotape and it's the worst? What the hell do people think happened in that elevator?

No, just casual conversation about the weather? You got the package right? Because our delivery driver was stuck in the snow for 3 hours trying to get over there. This weather is just awful.

Sorry, gotta get back to work.
Yes Mr Goodell?

Here's a wild thought: let criminal behavior be handled by courts and juries.

This case has become a great example of why sports leagues shouldn't get involved in issues beyond their competence. Any action the NFL takes against Rice is based solely on PR considerations - but every action they take just makes people blame them even more.

If Ray Rice worked stocking shelves at Wal-mart, would people expect the CEO of Wal-Mart to resign? Then why is Goodell responsible for Rice? He isn't....but his frantic reaction to this media "crisis" is making it look like he is.

It just doesn't work to try to compare the NFL, and an NFL player with walmart and their employees. If the image of Walmart as a whole were affected by the actions of a single employee, then you might have a comparison. Maybe if it were like a board member at Walmart, it might be more closely related.

I heard it was domestic violence and Ray Rice struck his fiancé. Domestic violence happens all the time with different degrees of severity. A 2 game suspension, I figured it wasn't as bad as it was.

Then the video came out and clearly it was much worse than what was projected to the public. You seem to want the original punishment to stand, video be damned. Other see that video and see a severe case of domestic violence and the league got it completely wrong. I'm glad they went back and got it right rather than say oh well we misjudged it the first time but aren't going to do anything about it.

He knocked her out cold and then completely disrespected her treating her body like a piece of meat rather than showing any kind of compassion or concern for her well being. It was sickening to see a man that size handle the entire situation the way he did. He has issues that he needs to deal with and being suspended from his job for a significant amount of time is what one should expect in this country when you act the way Rice did during this incident. He is not getting beheaded as you suggest, Rice isn't even doing any jail (as compared to Vick who did actual prison time). His boss fired him and the league has suspended him. Oh the injustice of it all.

You want to call it morally superior or blood lust, that is fine. But personally I hope we live in a society where that kind of abuse will not be handled with by a slap on the wrist.

I found the initial video horrifying enough, thank you very much. I wasn't stupid enough to make the assumptions you did.

And there's a difference between a slap on the wrist and a financial death sentence.
