Ready to be disappointed... again

If by close of business today Olshey hasn't at least gotten us Paul George and Porzingis - while keeping Dame, CJ and Nurk - then his ass needs to go. If any other stars get mentioned in possible trades, by any team across the league, well he better get us those guys as well. I've had enough!

Yes, the Blazers got lucky in that deal. And it did seem to fit Olshey's MO of finding disgruntled players who want to be away from their team and said team just trading him for the sake of getting him out of their locker room. Let's not forget that a lot of people were pissed off at losing Plumlee and if Nurk hadn't started balling out of his mind, surprising EVERYONE, before he got injured, we'd still be lamenting the loss of Mason.
I'm surprised to hear there were people pissed about that trade. I for one was ready to trade Plumlee since the previous year's playoffs, and I was ecstatic with the trade for Nurkic. To me it was the (purchased?) draft pick that was the bonus, not the other way around as some have suggested.

I legit can't tell whether this is a joke or not. Blazers fans are wild.

I was just going to post this. ;)

No one was pissed. We just thought someone else might go instead of Plums.

I want Butler not George.

Ummm... A lot of people were really HAPPY to get the 1st round pick instead of NOTHING for Plums so we didnt have to sign him. Then when Nurk started playing great we were like SUPER BONUS.

Jesus, what forum were you reading?

At 15 BPA
At 20 Best Big
At 26 Best Gamble

This makes sense Pops
Take the best player who falls to 15 regardless of position.
At 20 the mocks show 4 possible centers between 16-20 take whoever is left (Although I am not sold on Ike)
at 26 if Giles or OG are there ...take the gamble they can stay healthy

If the Knicks want to move Porzingis for 4 first round draft picks, I would give them all three of this years and next years, plus Noah Vonleh to make the money work. That would put the league on its ear.
I would definitely vote for that trade.

Ok maybe just gamble on one of the medically challenged players. But they both have huge upsides especially for where they are picked. Giles at 26 could be a steal.

I get the thinking, but we have been burned every damn time we take a chance on a player with an injury history. Taking that chance has never worked for this franchise.

Like that point guard we drafted a few years back who missed most of his junior year because of a broken foot, or the one we drafted that next year who had missed most of his senior season with the same injury. Those guys were total busts.

But... but they weren't 7'0! :MARIS61:

And I get what you are thinking, and is why I would not suggest doing it with a high lottery pick. But at 26 and the fact we will have 2 other rookies on the team as well, it is worth the gamble. Personally I think Giles will gone by then. Too many people are saying he will be the steal of the draft.

Who at 26 would really represent a gamble though? Seems to me 20 is the spot to take a gamble on someone like Giles, maybe OG if here's there, Patton, etc.

I don't think that's what happened at all. Pretty much everyone was of the mind that we better trade Plumlee because we couldn't afford to re-sign him this summer. Everybody liked Plumlee, but mostly everybody realized we needed to trade him.

Getting rid of Meyers and Crabbe or Turner tomorrow will make me happy and be a successful draft day. We've gotta ditch at least two of those contracts in my opinion. Draft picks + Meyers and Crabbe for Kevin Love! :)

I’m trying to be optimistic about the draft. I do believe we have about a 50% chance that a very good player falls to us @ #15. He may not play a position of our greatest need. But taking the BPA should get us a good rotation player and future asset.

After pick 15, I’m not so optimistic. I hope NO can pull off a miracle, but not holding my breath. I hope he finds a gem or two in the draft, and/or makes a great trade.

Trading for Melo is my greatest fear, however, realistically, he maybe our best trade option to improve. Yikes.

I would also throw many Euro's in the "gamble" category. We are never sure if they want to go back to Europe and we don't always know for sure how they match up against better players. I think Anzejs Pasecniks is a gamble.

Actually most really tall skinny bigs are a gamble. We are gambling that they can mature. And any exceptional athlete who can do everything but shoot is gamble. Can they develop a good shot on order to be a real player?

What disappoints me... Not a single "Hold on to your shorts" post. The ruckus in here just isn't complete without some shorts holding.

Shit never leaks from Neil's front office until the deal is done, and it's always Woj that breaks the news. Wouldn't be surprised if Wojs source is Neil himself. Woj always says good stuff about Neil.

Even last year when everyone and their mothers knew we were trying to get whiteside, updates never leaked beyond speculation. It wasn't until the season in a zach Lowe article until we actually got confirmation that Portland indeed tried to woo Whiteside.
