God may have originally "chosen" the Jews to carry out his work, to be blessed by Him, but obedience was still involved. Shoot, even Moses himself never got to see the promised land due to disobedience. Even still, there will always be a Jewish remnant. It's a big reason why so many have deep interest/concern for Israel.

I am oversimplifying of course but that is the gist of it. When I see Christians, often overtly anti-Semitic, who are the great friends of Israel I start to cringe. Or as you say get freaked out. If you want to be "friend of the Jews" work with us to get religion out of secular law. You know, like bans on marriage equality or the manic attacks on women's reproductive choices because Jesus loves forced vaginal probes.
