It makes me uncomfortable. Because some fundamentalist Christians include the founding of Israel in their view of the apocalypse, followed by the conversion of 1/3 of the Jews, the mass murder of the rest and the end of the world. I am oversimplifying of course but that is the gist of it. When I see Christians, often overtly anti-Semitic, who are the great friends of Israel I start to cringe. Or as you say get freaked out. If you want to be "friend of the Jews" work with us to get religion out of secular law. You know, like bans on marriage equality or the manic attacks on women's reproductive choices because Jesus loves forced vaginal probes.
