What would be the point in that trade? What if our pick is 15th? We could draft Kurucs who's a lot like Osman... Or we could use it to add actual veteran talent.

They're on the same tier as far as upside - Osman is seasoned and ready to play right away.

Do you guys really think Crowder is attainable?
It's reported Indiana wanted Crowder in any PG13 trade with the Celtics.
Celtics rejected that idea soon as Crowder was put in. They were more willing to offer the #1 pick in 2017 draft before they offered Crowder.
Not so sure he's attainable.
That was also heard when Boston was trying to get Butler; that the hangup was that Boston wouldn't include Crowder. But I also don't think Boston ever offered their top pick this year, so not sure what they did offer.

Trades have to make sense for both sides ya know?

Jabari Parker would get a top 10 pick on his own

So we throw in our 2018 1st round pick! The draft won't get this cake baked in time. We need a stud to compliment Lillard, CJ and Nurk this year.

I just think our big are set. We should be trading for a SF upgrade.
I don't disagree, but keep in mind that Harkless shot 50% from the field - that sort of efficiency from your 4th option is great. It also put him at 4th best FG% of all SFs.

Oh I love Mo and want to keep him. I just think getting Crowder should be a priority.

Congrats! I think that may be one of the more lopsided trades I've ever run through the ESPN trade machine. Unfortunately, something tells me MIL says no. They probably wouldn't be too keen on sacrificing 17 wins for two worse players on worse contracts.

Then sign Rudy Gay

How? Even after your proposed trade, we are still about $35 million over the cap. The only option we have for signing Gay would be the tax payer MLE which is a little over $5 million. Not gonna be enough and it's not even close.

Yes, it's Paul Allen's money and he is free to spend it how he chooses, but this is why us Blazer fans should care about the shit contracts we handed out to Crabbe and Turner. They severely limit our ability to improve the roster. Neil's working with his hands tied behind his back, but he's the one that tied them there.

I've come to the conclusion (agreement with @BonesJones) that we need Crowder. Crabbe has to go. Can anyone come up with something realistic (I suck at putting together trades) for JC?

I'm sure we could get Monroe..... but I don't think they're ready to give up on Parker just yet. Still..... that dude can't seem to stay healthy.

Sure, but that's still 4 whole seasons of Courtney Lee for way too much money.

No, it's not. It's three seasons (2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20).

Right now Courtney Lee is a less 1-dimensional Allen Crabbe at 67% of the cost. He is what he is. Today he's a "bargain" compared to Crabbe, but the same may not be true in 2019-20 when Lee will be 34 and Crabbe only 27.

ESPN apparently hasn't updated that for some reason. They updated a lot of other things.

Courtney Lee is 31 (almost 32)

Crabbe is 25. I think there's a higher chance of Crabbe improving than there is of Lee not continuing to decline as he ages.

I'm not worried about their ages now. Lee has not yet started to decline. In fact, 2016-17 was his best season since 2013-14, but he's been fairly consistent over the last 3 or 4 years. What I am worried about is their ages at the end of their current contracts. By then, Lee will be 34 and most likely not the same player he is today.

So, the question is, will Crabbe improve (he didn't show any improvement between his 3rd and 4th seasons), and if so, is he worth the 50% cost premium?
