Damn, Californians love to recall governors at least as much as Democrats love impeaching Republican presidents. I need to start a business selling Americans their own personal safe spaces. In less than a year I’d be richer than Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos combined.........
For what? What would they impeach him for?
For what? What would they impeach him for?
This is a fool's errand.
Republicans have been trying over and over since he was elected. They thought maybe they'd be able to get him out due to the pandemic, but their timing isn't going to work out very well. Infection rates are low, vaccine roll-out has gone well and the state is due to open up fully before the recall election.
It's just a desperate political stunt. Polls show most Californians are against the recall election.
Will they vote though to keep him in power though? I don't think enough people absolutely love Newsom to make this a foregone conclusion.
If a special election to recall Governor Newsom were held today, 40 percent of likely voters say they would vote yes on removing Newsom, while 56 percent would vote no and 5 percent are unsure. Views break along party lines: Republicans (79%) are far more likely than independents (42%) and Democrats (15%) to say they would vote yes …
Mark Baldassare, PPIC president and CEO, [notes:] “The share who would now vote to remove the governor is similar to the 38 percent who did not vote for Newsom in the fall of 2018.”
Story of the recall: people who didn't vote for him before still won't vote for him. And that's if it was held today. By the time it's actually held, everything will be fully open and he won't even have that for people to rail against. Good luck to you guys, though.

We already triggered the recall, that's a victory enough. Now to smear him through the mud!![]()
Sure, because Republicans didn't try that when he was running for the office. But I'm glad you realized actually recalling Newsom is impossible.
Impossible is nothing.
Would you bet your house on it? I can wait if you want to check with your significant other first.
Let's see how it turns out. Will they vote though to keep him in power though? I don't think enough people absolutely love Newsom to make this a foregone conclusion. Lots of small businesses are going to fight hard to get him out, due to the California Lockdowns.
The motivation to get him out is more powerful than to let him stay in power. It being a "Yes or No" vote on him being recalled works against him IMO. Add in the factor that a guy like Villaraigosa may come in as well.
I'm not even a fan of Newsom but he's pretty much better than the rest of the governors in the country by a wide margin. A recall is really stupid.
Better at what? Slicking his hair back? There are more Californians leaving California than there are total people in entire other states. Not a sign of good governance.
