I really enjoyed the beginning intro to that song, but it kind of turned into something I didn't expect. Very original sound, but I guess I didn't like the vocals that much.

I love ELO, but I never really liked that song. It's just very dry from their other stuff.

Do you have the lyrics in English? The guys had a nice voice and the piano was nice. Where do you find your foreign music?

John Lennon - Watching the Wheels

Rufus Wainwright is from New York, bro.

John Lennon - Watching the Wheels - B+

Nice simple music with a lifting bass line that is simplistic as well, but not leaving out inspiration. Something to just sit around and relax, drink a beer. I love the majority of the lyrics that John wrote as well. He's a legend, plain and simple. I should note though that he was not my favorite Beatle, that would be George Harrison.

New song is from the Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancing

Thinking abour Rufus, here's a band who were inspired by Mr. Wainwright. Not my favorite, but my fianc?e is addicted to this song and it grows on you after a while. The video is great.

Scissor Sisters: B

This song didn't really strike me upon first listen, but it does seem like it has growing potential (if that makes sense - some songs I think just have an intangible quality to them where the more you hear them, the more you like them, whereas some songs you just get sick of the more you listen to them). The keyboard is amazing though (not technically, but aesthetically).

This is probably the fourth or fifth song I've heard from this group, and they really haven't had a terrible track that I've heard yet. Unfortunately, there's still a strong stigma in America (especially in the South) attatched to homosexuality that makes it awkward to listen to these guys in public, so for now they're more of a guilty pleasure band for me.

Lennon: A -

This song is beautiful and really makes me miss John, but I wonder if I just like it because of who wrote it. Objectively speaking, I don't think it sounds that great. Lennon's solo work wasn't nearly as good as his work with the Beatles. Credit Yoko for that one I guess.

That's okay... I'll rate yours... I like what I've heard from the Scissor Sisters so far and want to check that one out. Just give me a min., I'm going to run out for 15-20 min, but when I come back, rating that video will be the first thing I do.

The song was okay but the lyrics didn't quite make sense to me. Was the fool on the hill suppose to be stoned or what? I listened to the lyrics twice but I couldn't make sense, maybe it's me not being familiar with their work. I haven't heard much of the Beatles, guess I never really got into them.

Memento - "Nothing Sacred"

Invalid Video Link

I saw this band at Ozzfest one year and liked this one song of theirs. This band is from Australia, so they have a bit of an accent, but it's hard to notice. It is a good song but never gets old no matter how many times you listen to it. Whoever grades this, tell me what you think of it.

Reminds me of System of a Down. I couldn't get into the song that much, but isn't because I don't like the sound. I guess the riff and the vocals really didn't stand out to me.

It's a great performance, but it's very mechanical. There could be so much emotion in the solo, but Clapton bores. None the less, he's still a pretty damn good guitarist.

John Frusciante - Going Inside

The video annoys me. It's just another piece of esoteric trash by Vincent Gallo. The song's great though, but I wish it didn't have the solo in the beginning but rather at the end. I don't like how the most powerful part of the song's at the start.

"Boring" just seemed to fit the Frusciante video, which was just like three or four images repeated over and over again.

The vid for "Young Lust" is actually from the motion picture, "The Wall."

Oh. I just didn't find the video you posted to be that interesting to me. But the song was alright.

Heres the song I posted up earlier since its on the last page I'll post it again:

I've heard of the guy but never listened to his stuff. What's the hype? I hear a voice that never changes. He sounds like a twelve year old throughout the whole song. If he changed from verse to verse, then it could be something good as the beat is quite catchy. JT > Robin Thicke. Book it. That chick is something else though. Umph!

Here's mine, with a little introduction by Pitchfork...

The heavy shoegaze anomaly on an otherwise hard-charging metal record, "Farewell" opened Pink and closed out Boris' live shows. It was from the gossamer calm of this song, one sensed, that Boris got in the mood to be Boris. The wind-tunnel vocals and deferential cymbal crashes, the single sustained chords and drawn-out three-note runs; this was the gradually building sound of a band settling into their headspace and preparing to lay waste. It felt like either a demonstration of their private dynamic or the slow application of their public face: Either way, it was one of the heaviest metal tracks of the year that couldn't rightly be termed "metal" at all.

I'm personally not heavy into drone rock. I gave this song a few listens, and it never really grew on me. I'll check out more from Boris, but based on this, I thought sort of find their sound just very clustered.

Great stuff! It just builds up and Morrison's voice is godly. Trippy music. I've really got to see that Doors movie.

Another RHCP song? Jeez. It's a good song, but I gave it a low grade because of the crappy quality. But seriously, how about less RHCP and more of other bands please. I'm so tired of seeing RHCP all over this thread. Let's recommend something new and fresh. Like this...

The Nightwatchman - The Road I Must Travel

It's Tom Morello's solo acoustic activist project.
The whole CD is pretty good as well.

Wow...i don't really know what to say about that one. I hate knockin other peoples music because its all preference, but that song was just horrible. It reminded me of those country songs that came out right after 9/11. Not only did i not like that type of music at all, but it didn't even seem like he was all that great at playing music all together.

Im not sure how to put the vid right on my reply, so i posted the youtube link. If you like hardcore, or you respect good song writing/instrument playing you will like Atreyu.

<div class="quote_poster">Answer_AI03 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">or you respect good song writing/instrument playing you will like Atreyu.</div>
They write good songs?
Play their instruments well?

News to me.

Sorry, but I absolutely hate that type of music. It's not me getting back at you, it's just a preference. The only metalcore band I can stand is Converge, and they're walking a thin line, ever since they released their latest two efforts which are horrible.

Thank you very much and I will listen to it again and again while I write about it because it is just that fun to listen to. I've heard about these guys before from some EP singles a buddy of mine picked up from the 'Net, but this is the first time I heard this track from them. Is it new?

This is the perfect example of how original you can make music from doing something absolutely simple while turning it into a twisted methodical masterpiece of rock and synth jumble. I would like to call this avantgarde. I'll definitely be picking up their album now that I've heard plenty enough to know I'll keep on listening. Is it out yet?

New song is from Venus - O Marie (cover)

Sorry, no Youtube for this one. Just head over to the MySpace page and the song is at the bottom of their music player. Their last song before they split, awesome cover too. I'm not sure if you've heard Venus yet, Sasha. I'm sure you'd enjoy everything from them.

Ah figures. Basically like Half Asleep have done then. Load it up and send me a link, bro. I appreciate it. Be sure to check out Venus too.

good music is good music no matter what type it is. you may not like that type of music, but atreyu went from a sideshow band in little no name concerts to headlining ozzfest, warped tour, and this summer will be on family values. i dont think that song deserved an F just because you dont like that type of music. however, music is all about what you like and i respect your opinion on it, but to me good music is something that takes a lot of skill to play and put together and sound good. I like Atreyu because they play the hell out of their instruments and blend a really hard type of music with a melodic chorus. I think that takes a lot of creativity and skill and i respect that in a band. Not to mention Atreyu puts on the best live show i have ever seen hands down, and i've been to quite a few concerts.

<div class="quote_poster">Answer_AI03 Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">good music is good music no matter what type it is.</div>
To a fan of that genre, yes. To someone that does not like that genre it's not going to be good music.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">you may not like that type of music, but atreyu went from a sideshow band in little no name concerts to headlining ozzfest, warped tour, and this summer will be on family values.</div>
What's your point? Is popularity supposed to equal quality all of a sudden? Last time I checked, all those festivals were horrible, and have gone downhill with the emergence of desensitized music such as Atreyu.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">i dont think that song deserved an F just because you dont like that type of music.</div>
Why not? I don't see any positive traits that would make out Atreyu to be a good band. They're a bland, run of the mill band. Their abilities are nothing, they are not technical, they follow the same pattern as every other band of their genre. It's repetitive garbage to me. There's nothing new in terms of their sound, that would grab my attention, and say "wow, they've flipped the coin."

Your right, popularity does not equal quality, but i would not call a band who got number 1 on the Billboard 200 a run of the mill band seeing as how they beat out every other artist in America at the time. They must be doing something to stand out if their gaining popularity faster than other bands.
