Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird - B+

Love Lynyrd Skynyrd at times, one of the classics. To the previous song from LZ, good stuff as well.

Here's one from Sigur Ros - I Gaer

You've got to be in the right mood for this band, also I don't know anyone under 18 that's enjoys this music, so you youths may want to stay clear. Got to love that guitar being played with an E-bow.

C-, not really my stuff. It was kind of boring to me.

New song: John Frusciante- The Past Recedes
The guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I'm not a huge fan of his solo stuff. He has like 6-8 cds and I only really like two of them. His album "Curtains" is a very good one. And that is where this song comes from. The only other one I really like is "Shadows Collide with People"

Great song. I don't listen to a whole lot of acoustic work, but Frusciante's such a great guitarist and I think I'll definitely be checking this out. His voice is great as usual and I loved that little solo in the middle.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Little Wing (live @ Royal Albert Hall)

The video doesn't show anything in particular, but I love this recording of the song more than the studio version.

One of my favorite Hendrix song's, so beautiful! That was an amazing version you posted.

RHCP - Turn It Again

I like the song, but I mainly posted it for the solo at the end. Frusciante just shreds his guitar.

I wish it started a bit faster, but its all good from there.

I don't listen to too much rock, as 90% of my music collection is hip hop. The remaining 10% is primarily rock that I grew up on: XTC, Blur, Francis Dunnery, Marshall Crenshaw, REM, etc.

My favorite band is Blur, hands down. Here's but a taste of their greatness:

EDIT: I just uploaded two new songs myself, so I figured I would put those forward instead

Blur- Oily Water and Miss America

Awesome! This is why I've missed this thread. One question though, is this one or two songs? I saw both on your top ten list, and I wasn't sure what to expect from them, because really, I never know what to expect from Blur. My three favorite songs from them are Coffee and TV, Park Life, and of course, Song 2, all of which are dramatically different sounding tracks. Then you have the fact that Damon Albarn's the mastermind behind Gorillaz. I really need to start downloading more of their stuff. For whatever reason, I've always accepted them as a good band, defended Coffee and TV as one of my favorite songs of all-time, and yet, I've only got maybe a combined ten songs in my music folder. That'll change tonight.

I rented this movie a few years ago on the 90's British rock movement that you might like, called "Live Forever." It basically featured bands like Oasis, Blur, etc. and touched on how they never really hit that big in the states but were huge over in Britain for all those years.

Hmm, I have so much new music that I want to share, but damn, I guess I'll just go with a song from a band that I sort of just saw (I saw the drummer and bass player each do solo sets at Rothbury).

Grateful Dead - Box of Rain

Never been a big Grateful Dead fan. First time our tastes in music differed Voodoo
.

The Doors-Peace Frog

A friend once told me, never set your favorite songs as ringtones. I sorta made that mistake with "Peace Frog" and am paying for it right now. It really saturates the meaning of a song when you're hearing soundbites of it every time you get a phone call. I was never that into "Peace Frog" for a Doors song though. I've always thought the song was sort of atypical for the band, as were a lot of songs off of Morrison Hotel, like "Land Ho!", "Roadhouse Blues," and "You Make Me Real." I can't really put my finger on it, but it's like this drunken sing-along roadside bar feel they have, like the kind of music a biker would listen to in the late 60's, early 70's. Still, like with the Chilis, even The Doors' songs that I'm not enamored with, I still like.

I was going to post another Kings of Leon song, but I don't know why, I just feel like posting the Doobie Brothers instead.

Doobie Brothers - Long Train Running

Awesome song! Never knew its name, thanks.

Fool's Garden- Lemon Tree

B - Not bad. Never really heard the song before, but it felt light and fun and I liked how it picked up over time. The random stops were kinda cool.

These are two separate songs, but you gotta listen to them together because they flow into each other.

Jimi Hendrix Experience - "1983 (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)" & "Moon, Turn the Tides... Gently Gently Away"

Jimi is always good, and these songs are no exceptions, and you're right, the flow together great!

I saw somebody post a song be a friend near the start of this thread, so I'll throw a song from my stepfather out there for people to listen to. It was recorded in his bedroom and the only real instrument is the guitar. I'm sure it could be even better with real people playing real instruments, but he did what he could with what he had available and I still think it turned out great. No video, but I like to think that this thread is more about the music anyway.

I really like Jimi, the first song has always been a bit too long for my liking. I like both songs though.

Wilco-Jesus, etc

--Edit Sorry gambi your song didn't play for me

Wilco "Jesus, Etc" - B+

The bass line is relaxing and the violin is an added plus to the track. The video itself is decent.

One of my favorite tracks from any band or artist. They shouldn't have shortened the track though.

Hey! Remember this thread?!?

I liked the acoustic guitar and the chorus, but the lyricist wasn't great. His rhymes weren't particularly clever or deep, and that other dude's interjections into the chorus were annoying.

This song's been in my head ever since I saw the Left 4 Dead 2 commercial. I'm getting more and more into that bluesy vibe.

Clutch - Electric Worry

I loved the guitar & harmonica in that song. After seeing the L4D2 commercial, I've been wanting to look up what that song was but now I know. The lyrics are awesome in the song also, definitely a song I can sing while driving around :)

Here's one of my favorites off of Wolfmother's new album. I first heard it on Fuel TV, which I love the live performance of the guitar but the lyrics sound really fuzzy, so here is the CD version:
