Stop with the damn RHCP songs please, it gets a bit repetitive. Share something you think others might not have heard, so we can expand our musical knowledge.

As for Comfortbaly Numb, I don't think a grading scale fits it. It's way beyond that, it's a journey, rather a part of a journey known as the Wall. Quite likely some of the greatest music ever composed. It features some of my favorites lyrics in any song:

The child is grown.
The dream is gone.

That alone speaks volumes about the song, the CD, and the band that withstood and still does so many decades. I think it speaks of how we should never let our inner child go, Carl Jung calls this our Divine Child. We should always embody the spirit of childhood in every situation, which is humility and playfulness. This is very evident throughout the song, that Pink (the character of the Wall) has let go of his, and delved into dangerous obstacles in life, and in the end of the song it summarizes how with the inner child being gone, all this trouble has come to Pink.

Aside from that rambling, this song has one of the greatest, if not the greatest guitar solo ever. So full of emotion, so beautiful. I could keep talking about Pink Floyd forever.

Now here's something real special to me. It's from my favorite band; Tool, it's a part of their three track opus of Disposition-Reflection-Triad. This is Triad done by itself live and with a bit of improvisation and help from Meshuggah's drummer Tomas Haake. Enjoy...

^^ Awesome. Though I've seen that exact video before

A+

I've always loved tool, especially Keenan's performance live, because he's alway amazing. And not enough can be said about the lyrics, I mean everyone is constantly talking about the lyrics. The great thing about tool is they get you thinking, you just get sort hypnotized by the song, and not too many bands can do that.

Okay, here's my little contribution.

One of my favorite bands. Off the Key To No Door EP. Not so sure how you guys will like it. But everyone I introduced to them liked them.

Ghost Trio - Circuit Of Possession B-

I like this band, surprising I'd never heard of them before. They're mellow and seem to really get into their music, which is rather rare these days. The song is good, but I'm not a fan of the lyrics. However, I love how it ended. Nice smooth bass lines there along with a tempo pick up. Thanks for the recommendation, Rafy.

Here's one from a band who are undoubtably one of the best out there spanning their instrumental inspiration across the globe from the US to China. Their songs are incredibly long, but they're more so actual orchestrated pieces then regular songs. The most emotional music I've ever heard.

The video is kinda stupid to me, but that's because it actually isn't their's. They don't make music videos though their music often inspires political controversy. You can see the inspiration of that from their fan videos, except this one. Just listen to the song. One of my five favorite songs of all-time from any artist. The ending is absolute genius.

I'm not so sure if I'm supposed to pick one up rafter I did one, but I couldn't help myself because no one did one yet. I already had a few cd's from Godspeed and Silver Mt. Zion, and now I'm listening to them again

I'm a huge fan of post-rock, but really Godspeed started it all. They're sort of like modern symphonists, and they're damn good at it. So, don't think I like to inflate my rating when I give another:

A+

Why can't you guys post bad music? I'm dying to give a F-

Radiohead - True Love Waits

I love that song. The line I'm not living, I'm just killing time, is just so full of beauty and regret, and yeah, it gets me every time too. Anyways, here's my newest...

Gordon Lightfoot ----- The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
Invalid Video Link

A

One of the greatest folk songs of all-time, and probably my favorite Lightfoot song (although "If You Could Read My Mind" is another classic). Interesting pics to go along with it as well.

New Song:

John Frusciante - How Deep Is Your Love?

(I know the constant RHCP recommendations are getting on people's nerves, but I was really posting this for Mamba, to get his opinion on it.)

A

That was amazing. I'm not a big fan of the beegees, but I do like that song. Frusciante covered that perfectly. Like you said, he's got a great range on his voice and he showcased it there. Do you want to PM me some more covers?

I'm going to go ahead and post another RHCP song because this one hasn't been released officially, at least to my knowledge. It's an amazing song.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Quixoticelixer

B-

I like this, it took a bit to kick in but when Anthony takes it in and the song gets heavier that's when I start to like it. The first part isn't that great but the ending is good. Here's mine...

David Bromberg -- Mr. Bojangles [Live]

A

Bromberg has a very soothing quality to his voice. I feel like my ears just got a massage.

Great cover of a classic song. I was a little apprehensive about downloading it after hearing so many people screw it up, but this ranks up there with Dylan's cover of it.

New song:

(shifting gears here to something a little harder)

Faith No More - Epic

Mike Patton (as he is often referred to) is God. I love everything the guy has ever done involving music. He is up there with my love for Roger Waters, and Bob Dylan. Epic was one of the prominent Faith No More songs, that launched them into super stardom and is definitely amazing. Keeping with the similar interest...

Tomahawk -- God Hates A Coward

B

Not bad, I liked the sound of it, I liked the gas mask effect too.

Heres a song by an Australian band that I caught on TV the other day, I thought it was quite touching:

Yeah, I've seen that video before. Great stuff, I've been compelled to do the same thing, but I don't think it would received as well in my area. Anyways, good song, I just downloaded it after viewing that. Here's something a wee bit different...

Norah Jones -- Sunrise

B+

This song was just what I was in the mood for, but I don't like her voice that much. Go ahead and call me crazy, because I can objectively say it's beautiful, but I just don't dig it personally. The video was great though --- very creative.

New Song:

The Bird and The Bee - Again and Again

B
Not really my kind of music, but I liked it a lot. Beautiful voice.

RATM: Killing in the Name Of
Invalid Video Link

B-

As far as Rage songs, I've always thought this was one of the worst. Musically, it's decent, but it's got very overrated lyrical content, and while I know De La Rocha had good intentions, I simply disagree with his message of racism in government and law enforcement.

New Song:

Metallica - Whiskey in the Jar (one of my favorite songs of all-time)

Just not really feeling it

Ben Folds Five - One Angry Dwarf and 200 Solemn Faces
Invalid Video Link

C

The music is good, sans piano, but Ben Folds' voice is annoying as hell, and the lyrics are very hard to identify with. Poor vocals and poor lyrics can ruin an otherwise good song.

New Song:

Incubus - Talk Shows On Mute

Invalid Video Link

B-

Incubus is a pretty good band, but they get pretty annoying. The song in particular is rather average, it has a nice concept and lyrics, but for some reason it just sounds like something I've heard on MTV over and over and over again. Probably because they're affiliated with hoobastank for crying out loud. Good band, average song.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Invalid Video Link

I thought the video was pretty stupid, and it's the short version of the song.

Psh... don't hold it against Incubus for touring with Hoobastank. Just because they suck doesn't mean Incubus does. They're just from the same town in California. Incubus is one of the best active bands and an amazing live act. Sometimes I think they'd be more appreciated if they were less popular, because they are overrated, especially by all the 'poser surfer' types, but they're still a good band nonetheless.

Rain on a Clear Night: B+

Good song w/a good vibe, but it's relatively bland and monotonous.

New Song:

The Arcade Fire - Rebellion

Invalid Video Link

No offense at all here, but I think Incubus have a bland sound.

The Arcade Fire - Rebellion - C

This band is pretty good, I remember hearing a lot of them a while back. Not digging this song much though, but isn't bad anyway. The violin work is very questionable if even real, seriously. The piano work is alright, but I like the chorus and the rest of the song plays out pretty decently.

Next song is one from a unique west coast band. Well ok, the girl is from Russia. She's the only female singer I can tolerate.

Persephone's Bees - Climbing

EDIT* Found a better quality video and changed the song.

I mean, I can understand you criticizing them or them not being your cup of tea persay, but "bland" would be one of the last words I would use to describe such a diverse band.

We all have our own opinions of music. You believe they're diverse, I believe they sound bland and uninventive. I used to own one of their albums, but as I tried to get into it I never did, even though my buddy gave them high recommendation.

Fair enough.

I'm doomed to be a musical elitist for life though. For some reason I still can't grasp the fact that what pleases my ears doesn't please every one else's.

I get that way sometimes, but it depends on the person. Like you, if you don't like a few things I don't it doesn't bug me at all. Unlike someone who just hates something because they don't understand it.

She's got a beautiful voice, and the band's not to shabby. I like it a lot. Keeping in spirit with female vocalists, I present the Goddess...

Tori Amos -- I Can't See New York

Tori Amos - I Can't See New York - B+

Not a fan of Tori Amos, but this song was good. You can feel the emotion behind the piano through certain stretch points. I like the meaning behind the song and it was well written. This is the type of song that wants me to give her music more of a chance.

Next up another band from Belgium. I love this video.

Sharko - President

Personally, I'm surprised my ears didn't bleed. Def can't stand how it sounds. Good video though.

Audioslave - Cochise
Invalid Video Link

Easily one of my favorite hype songs.

Audioslave - Cochise - F

This band never does it for me. If I wanted to hear this exact guitar work I'd click back to the early 90's for RATM. Singing is absolutely horrendous, for me personally one of the worst singers out there. I never could stand his screaming 80's/90's split style. When he cuts down to a lower tempo it gets even worse because he has no true vocal range.

It ends in typical fashion as well with the same ol' same verse-chorus-repeat-drop-repeat that has been overdone since I don't know when. Anyway, no offense to you or your taste in music what-so-ever. I'm just tired of these types of artists that all give me the same as many others.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New song is from the band who's singer uses an E-Bow to play the electric guitar. The band who even Metallica and Radiohead have praised as the most unique in the world. Not for the weak at heart or the impatient, it is the Victory Rose.

Sigur R?s - Svefn-G-Englar

Invalid Video Link

I'm an Incubus fan, but I think M Two One has a point about Talk Shows on Mute and ACLOTM in general. I think that album was a bit iffy sounding and was difficult to adjust to after Alex got replaced by Ben. Talk Shows on Mute is probably one of the worst songs off that album.

M Two One, depending on which album you might think they suck. Their first couple and A Crow Left of the Murder weren't up to par with Morning View, Make Yourself and I think that they've gotten a bit better with Light Grenades.

---------------------

Sigur R?s - Svefn-G-Englar B- Errie sounding, but it's unique. Takes a little while to get warmed up to it. I'm personally not a fan of these kinds of songs.

Anyway, my reccommendation.

Muse - Hysteria
