So, you agree that popularity does not equal quality, but then you bring up the same point again? Chart toppers are great, whoo, yeah go them! It still does not mean anything. You're trying to justify them by headlining festivals, and topping Billboard charts. Expand on their musical skill, rather and you might have a case.

...and that's just the recent chart toppers as I gathered off two pages from Billboard.com. You have to realize that music is much more than your local radio station, MTV, or an internet chart. There is more to music, when you get into discussing it, like skill, technicality, progression, concepts, etc. You have yet to bring any of those up for Atreyu.

Do yourself a favor and listen to a couple songs by atreyu and you will see the skill and technicality. I can't defend my points just by saying that they are good, you just have to listen for yourself. Atreyu's lead guitarist is absolutely insane. Their drummer is not only a great drummer but he sings at the same time and is actually a great singer as well. It was stupid of me to try to defend a point by the stupid billboard 200, but i was just saying that they are actually different and they are pushing hardcore because they are the only hardcore band to ever make the number one spot i believe. I know you dont really like that type of music but if you feel like listening to a couple new songs you should try "untitled finale", "the remembrance ballad" or "lip gloss and black". All those songs illustrate the technical ability and the true songwriting skill of this band.

I always liked Damian, but I also always thought he was a bit overrated because of his name. I think that while you can definitely see his father's influence over his life musically, I think that influence was a lot more secondary than most people realize - Damian was only three years old when his father was killed, and he had thirteen kids, Ziggy being the most talented of the bunch.

This song, in particular, I think is better in studio and doesn't really translate to a live performance well.

Yeah, they've called it quits, but four full length albums is good to go out with. "O Marie" is actually one of the few songs they have done in French. VC has almost all of their albums so he can give you judgment on them as well.

Yeah, they were an amazing band. Just when I started to get into them too...

BTW - I got your PM, M... I've just been unusually busy with a lot of stuff at work and with classes n'all... so I haven't had any time to answer PM's, e-mails, etc. in a long time. I'll get back to you soon though... definitely.

I'm really just not feeling it. The fat lead singer's voice got on my nerves, and what's up with the lyrics? They were overly sexual for a song that seemed to be about the Holocaust. Is it just me, or did he say something about fucking while hiding from the Axis? Weird...

Yea he's kind of got a unique voice, I dig it though because it sounds more real to me than alot of singers. Less serious and more fun and interesting. To each his own though. The song is pretty sexual but I don't think it's totally about the Holocaust, that's just the setting for the people in love and he's saying they would be fine and do it and all that despite the Nazis or whatever trying to stop it. The lead singer is Jewish too so I don't think he meant any disrespect.

It's a fun song, but it's a little repetitive for my taste. Cool video though.

My offering is an amazing group of performers. First off, it's a David Bowie song from his 2003 release, Reality. However, it's been remixed by Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails) and includes Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle), Milla Jovovich (the model, actress, solo artist) on vocals and John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers, solo) and Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, Vandals, Nine Inch Nails) on guitar and drums respectively. It was on the Underworld movie soundtrack. One of my favorite songs ever.

I was iffy on the vocals, but the music was spectacular. It built up and the climax was amazing. You find some truly incredible music.

This is just a great song to drive around and blast with your buddies. The thing I've always loved about Rage is that they sound exactly the same live. I'm not a huge fan of bands that change up their songs so much that you can't even reckognize what the hell they're playing half the time.

The thing I love in particular about this song is the bass. Not exactly the most creative work, but enthusiastic and clear. That's what is important with a bass. Most bands try to tune out the bass guitar and that's because there aren't that many good bassists in the world as we could hope. Then you have bassists who over-do it. Unless the band is focused on the bass (Primus) or you're in a blues or jazz band then it doesn't make much sense to go all out with some massively creative line.

This is from their new album, which I did not pick up. They tried to go with a sell out style of music, adjusting their sound to fit the record company they signed with. This song however reminds me more of their old style, only with some synth work. One of the big reasons it reminds me more of their old work is that it is has an uppity feel, but with darker lyrics. This is why I recommend it. Reminds me of the lyrics to "Bones," though not nearly as dark.

You won't find any of their old stuff online I think, but if I remember correctly I posted a thread about these guys on here back in 2004 or something. Man how time flies and how much bands sell their souls. If you're interested you can try to find some of their old stuff by searching up "Workin'," "Robbers," "Bones" or "This Is War." If you can't find any of them, perhaps I'll upload one.

This is somewhat of a tribute to what could've been a great band.

That video is funny. The music is pretty good, surprisingly for such a repetitive song (which was the point obviously) I liked it. The lyrics were annoying at first, but as it changed up I started to enjoy it. The vocals aren't that great, but I'm not going to knock on that because the song and even the genre in particular doesn't call for great vocal work. For this it is all about what can get you going and this does it.

Nice to see the Riddler make an appearance as well. j/k lol

One of my favorite tracks from NMH (all of my favorites being on the same album). Gone now, but definitely not forgotten by the fans. This isn't an official video obviously, but I think it goes along well enough and I love those Red Bull Flugtags.

The bagpipe kind of annoyed me to be honest with you. I thought the rest of it would've deserved a B but the bagpipe sound drowned out most of the music to me. Maybe I just don't have the right ears for it.

I think I actually might have posted this video before myself (not 100% though). It's an amazing song that just moves me in an intangible, indescribable. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get into that much other TV on the Radio stuff. I checked out their new album and only two or three tracks stood out to me, and of their past stuff, this is about all I like outside of "Dreams" and a few others.

That's a great song from the Beatles. It runs pretty straight through and calms you down. An inspirational song and a nice picture video tribute to boot. Not sure what else I can write about it, can't knock anything.

One of the best songs, ever. A great video too with clips taken from the film this song was used for. Enki Bilal's masterpiece comic series turned into a reality, Immortel. I love the man's work, he's a genius. After the video, take a look at some of his work. Just type his name in a search.

I don't recommend the film to people who don't follow the series because it is too damn confusing otherwise. I think Sasha would appreciate it though.
 
Enki Bilal is a genius! Yeah, I know of him. Dude was born in Yugoslavia (where I'm from). I've only seen The Hetzfeld tetralogy because of its relation to the Balkans. I haven't seen Immortel yet, but judging by Linda Hardy's beauty alone, I just might have to.

As for the song, it's awesome as well. Of what I've heard from Venus, this is some of my favorite stuff. It has a great climax and resonates very well. Definitely an A.
