Notice Regardless of what the gun nuts say

Listen I have no desire to be shot at or stabbed. Not really my thing. But if I was faced with a knife-wielding man and nut job with an assault rifle, I’ll take the knife. Period. What are we arguing? That being stabbed doesn’t suck?

what is bad is always bad....who needs to shoot 16 consecutive times and why?

Third reprint.

Yes I prefer a weapon that a single shot will usually do for many uses. The 270 Winchester Model 70 and the 308 Savage lever action are couple of my favorites along with a sweet little Browning knock off of the old model 92 Winchester, except it shoots the .357 rounds instead of 32-20. But these are not good enough for all uses.

1. When I was running my ranch in NE Oregon, I took it on to encourage geese to nest there. The first year I had one pair that did indeed raise a batch of goslings.
I raise the capacity of the pond to about 5 feet deeper and that resulted in a bit more area, moving the edge right over close to a grain field on either side of the pond.
The Cattails had to readjust to the new, but they did quickly.

Well anyway those Geese and their young returned the next spring and they all setup camp. I had 5 nesting pair that summer. They had grain right there and were doing well. I kept a close eye on them as the Coyotes were too. Then the dang Coyotes got one young one. Dammit! The next evening I set up watch over the Grain field from a hill side about 300 yards off. Sure enough, the pack of Coyotes game sneaking in from the far side maybe 550 yards off, working their way very stealthy toward the feeding young. The Ganders were on Duty but they could not see the Pack sneaking through the Wheat.

The geese were maybe 275 yards from me, so I let the coyotes come to just over 300 as I judged it. Then I opened up, rapid fire with a 30 round magazine in the Ranch rifle. Dropped Two of the seven before they knew what the fuck was up, then they turned tail. On their way out, I dropped one more. I did not see the coyotes in the area again that year. Not sure how many geese I had practicing flight training that fall but it was sort of cool to watch then get ready to migrate. I was damned pleased.

Yes, a whole bunch returned and we did the same drill on the next batch of Coyotes next season and the next. We lived there seven years before we then moved to Bandon. Probably had over 200 pairs of nesting geese calling that ranch home. I don't think I could have done it without that Mini-14 Ranch Rifle. It works about like an AR-15, might not be quite as bad looking, but still...

2. Now I could tell you another story of why you need some serious fire power on a boat too. But I will leave that story for another day. I will just say the threat of being well armed is usually enough to win the day. It will be the shits when the bad guys know we legally, cannot be well armed.

Because of the times.
In your scenario you pointed out we used 6 shooters back in the day. But that was against arrows.
Now(for comparison terms only, not literally) the ones with arrows have guns. So i want a better, more powerful gun so i have the advantage again.

Thats a loose analogy, but it gets the point across. Hose who have the advantage will win.
Take he advantage away and the bad guys win. They will be the only ones aith the advantage.

All I see from most gun control advocates is a bunch of people who know almost nothing about what they want to regulate.

Which, to me, is extremely problematic because I would never try to regulate something that I don't understand. I would at least educate myself first.

I can't even tell you how many people have said something to the effect of, "we need to ban machine guns!" Or "We need to ban automatic weapons!"

Is it really that hard in this day and age to go to Google and type in "current gun laws?"

Well, people who you've posted with for years can't tell you from another banned poster. Maybe people confuse me with HCP and that's why I get so much grief.

You do need special weapons on a boat in dangerous waters. And there's little doubt that a weapon with a large magazine capacity could come in handy in certain situations in the wild. I'm also certain it wouldn't be complicated to make provisions for special licenses for such situations.

Well, thankfully, we do not need special license. Everyone knows that boats are probably well armed. I think this is the major reason piracy is nonexistent in American waters. Sure not the case elsewhere.

The Coast Guard is the reason for the lack of a big piracy problem in American waters. Also, there are current restrictions on the carrying of certain weapons at this time. Why do you think Somalia pirates thrive?

Poppycock!

Pirates all over the world, Somalia, Mexico, Caribbean, South China Sea, Indian Ocean, African coast, all prey on unarmed boats and ships.
So many of the worlds countries ban weapons on board vessels, you can not get to Somalia armed unless you do it the hard way.
Straight from a US port to the Arabian Sea and the only way to do that around Cape of Good Hope. Can not go from the Pacific to the Arabian Sea
Without going through waters where guns are not allowed. The most pirate infested waters on Earth. Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay waters are free of pirates. Boats can be and probably are armed there. Mexico used to be good, when they let us keep arms onboard. Can't do it now though and it sucks.

Coming down the West Coast, I encountered one CG cutter, on station off Cape Mendocino. Ha! The guys were bored too! They Boarded the MarAzul. Checked to see if she was sinking, had a Garbage procedure sign in place, Discharge of Oil Prohibited Sticker in place, proper number of fire extinguishers, you know, important stuff. I have passed that inspection four times now. I really think they just wanted to board the MarAzul.

Bottom line is, the CG is not going to be there if a pirate shows up, any more that the Sheriff will be at your ranch when a bad dude come to take what he can. But they don't do that shit when the risk is too high, because they know you are probably legally armed. Most people will not likely be illegally armed.

I'm sure you're lying because I know everything. Wait, who hacked my account?

:cool2:
We have some that have used that phrase.
Thankfully the average person doesn't know ANYTHING about bodywork so I don't have to put up with things like that. Also there are rarely any forum discussions that would touch on it.

I occasionally have to deal with someone who is adamant that they don't want body filler used on their car. When I explain how much cutting and welding are required to replace some panels and then filler is still used they understand.

I suppose I could replace a quarter panel without filler but it would take forever and nobody is going to pay me what it would cost.

A skim coat is one thing but I have seen body work from some that think a 1/4" dent or larger is okay to fill with body filler and then sanded. There are lazy and cheap people who take shortcuts in every industry.

80 percent of them in mine, however you have to remember who pays the bill. This truck backed into a pole and smashed badly. There isn't an 1/8 the inch of filler anywhere. 3 hours or so of hammer and dolly off the vehicle. Love bolt on bed sides. Wasn't quite finished with filler, picture was for the file at work. Just to show the amount of work for the insurance company.image000000_15.jpg image000000_16.jpg

I was thinking. If knives and vans etc are also deadly why do you need a gun? Why don’t you just use your knives or your car to combat these deadly, scary things?

The only thing that stops a bad guy with a van is a good guy wearing Vans.

I believe both conservatives and liberals on this board want to stop mass shootings.
But whats sad is both sides would rather argue about which spoon is more shiny.
Than actually have a conversation which would promote change.

I came to this conclusion because I asked multiple questions to pro-gun rights people on this board.
None of them were answered, instead the very first post called me a cuck.
For simple asking a question on a subject according to pro-gun rights people. I have no knowledge about.

I'm not a liberal, I'm not a conservative.
I simply was asking a question of people who deem themselves more education on the subject than I.
Was never answered.

Good points. I find it very ironic when gun advocates continue to use the falsehood that people (Democrats) want to take their guns away. I have never heard anyone of any kind of authority say that all guns should be banned and yet that's one of the first thing they fire back with when gun control laws are discussed.

Who ever said he was a Christian to boot? Please provide proof.

Next time, do your own research. If I say it, it's the truth as I know it. Just because you don't know doesn't mean I need to "provide proof". You have access to the same internet as me

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...nd-church-services-pray-massacre-victims.html

Now, was he a REAL Christian? Hell the fuck no. But he sure portrayed himself as one to kill senior citizens.

And personally, if you're racist, you're mentally ill.
