Remind me what we got for Zach Randolph.

Not my money. Besides, better than paying $15m a year to Steve Francis to stay at home.

Exactly, it isn't your money, which means you aren't the guy that has to pay a guy $16M that doesn't deserve it. You're only looking at it as a fan, not the guy signing the checks. Fact is Randolph was terrible value for the Blazers and given the pieces the Blazers had he wasn't needed, so he was shipped and has been traded for scraps two more times because that's all he's worth, mainly because he arguably has the least valuable contract in the NBA.

If ZBO, at 16 million a year, could have provided similar performance than what he has given this year, it would have been worth it. Especially when our starting PF gets 2 boards in the playoffs.

..and what was the scoring differential of bench points last game? it was huge.

Those 2 are two more than Zach has in the playoffs.

Zach would be in jail right now after raping some stripper, and wouldn't be contributing off of our bench, so why do you bring it up as if he would?

Not really, since he's not worth his contract as it is. Minimizing his role makes it even worse.

Yes, because if he was on this team, he would be completely different than he has been for his career all of the sudden! :ohno:

If his usage rate drops (because he's our sixth man or whatever), then yes, he wouldn't be giving you those stats.

How would he compare to what Juwan Howard has given us?

Ed O.

did they actually state that? or was it reported by a 3rd party as such (i.e. Jason Quick speculation).

I heard some graphic accounts of some that behavior from someone not in the media who I believe to be a credible source. I heard those accounts months before I saw anything mentioned in the media.

What in the fuck are you talking about?

You all want his numbers in a vacuum which is perfectly understandable. The problem is those numbers were attached to an absolute fuckwit who wasn't able to stay out of trouble.

Portland didn't want to deal with any of that anymore, in fact nobody in the league did other than Isiah Thomas.

1) This deadline, Memphis will have a $17.3 Million expiring contract, which could be quite valuable (or ignored a la RLEC).

2) Championship level teams can afford to have a single knucklehead on their team, and several have.

Why doesn't anyone ever include the inconvenient fact that RLEC was worth more than $10MM in cash?

I never said his numbers in a vacum but ZBO is a legit scoring threat and can rebound well. Which is a lot more than I can say about our bench. Having a scoring machine on the bench would really help out in bench point disparity.

Good point. Alternatively, he could be injured right now or LMA would have demanded a trade last year and we'd be without LMA's points. What's our net gain then? Just placing Z-Bo into Spot 6 in the lineup doesn't do anything useful, because that doesn't also simulate the 1000+ days inbetween when he was traded and last week.

Because we're a 50 win team, have been the last two years, a playoff team, young and improving. And we didn't have to deal with him.

...and we haven't had a Blazer get so much as a parking ticket since the day he left town.

Indeed; If we hadn't bombed out on the Darius gambit, letting RLEC expire on our side of the ledger would have been a huge help in signing any free agent we... wanted... like... Hedo...

*sigh* Maybe it's all for the best after all. :D

I know you didn't write the vacuum part. I did. People are valuing JUST ZR the player and saying we should have gotten more for him. The player part wasn't the problem. It was the man off the court.

He had no value.

Like the Rasheed trade we really didn't get anything that helped us in the long-term.

Well, that could change depending on what we get for Rudy this summer if he doesn't bolt for Spain.

Rudy can't bolt for Spain. He's got another year left on his contract.
