This is one thing that has tweaked me more than most anything I've heard since Clinton said I was uneducated, lived in my parents basement and didn't do my own research on MSNBC/CNN.
Watched a republican with nat security clearance say something similar to this on MSM during an interview.
Sorry Republicans, I have a 55$ smartphone and a plan that I pay for what I use.
The last time I went to a restaurant was 2016 sept. girlfriends birthday ~
Not everyone is carefree with their money.

As many people have pointed out: in this day and age, you are fucked (can't get a job, can't get vital information/apps for your health) if you do not have a computer with access to the internet. And for many many people, that computer is their smartphone.

 
Denny's been pretty quiet lately. Why is he missing this chance to dance on Obamacare's grave?

Just imagine if that lady's doctor had been an immigrant, female, lesbian, Hispanic, person who crossed the border illegally AND whose services were paid for by Obamacare. She'd no doubt be cured by now.

Struggling to parse your joke here. Let's see: the "lady", while making a point about iPhones, also points out the fact that her doctor is somebody who wouldn't make it into the country if Trump and his Republican stooges had their way, and that she has coverage through a program the Repubs want to replace with a big tax break for millionaires. So she's guilty of pointing out several shitty things at once. So in your mind she is also guilty of implying that the world would be a utopia if we went the other way, which of course it wouldn't, so isn't she stupid? Is that the joke? Help me out.

Maybe I'm distracted by the fact that "female" is redundant given that you have "lesbian," and as you've added "Hispanic" on top of "immigrant" you're implying that Trump and Repubs will be targeting Hispanic citizens next? Not saying you're wrong, just good to know in advance.

Just my warped sense of humor, Rasta. I find it odd that identity politics worms its way into every discussion. You're right about the redundancy except to the extent that female and lesbian are two different identity groups with obvious crossovers.

Regarding the immigrant angle, as an Independent I'm struggling a bit trying to understand both liberal and conservative talking points here. Trump and his cronies rewrote their temporary ban to, as I understand it, restrict immigration from 5 countries that specifically do not provide our government assistance in providing information relevant to vetting immigration requests. The ban is for 90 days, at least initially. On its face, I can't understand why that is an unreasonable position for a responsible government to take. I get that there isn't a record of terrorist incidents from people immigrating from those countries, but we're talking about taking increased numbers and thereby increasing the odds. I also get that the Trumpies probably would be happier restricting more people if they could figure out a way to do it legally. The Libs, of course, are taking the opportunity to scream about religious discrimination, despite the fact that the ban does not apply to predominantly Muslim countries that DO help us vet immigrants. They also want to stretch it to imply that Trump is entirely anti-immigrant when the record, so far at least, doesn't really support that contention. So, it appears that the word of the day is bullshit as usual.
 
We are renewing our health plan right now and the changes were not that bad. Increased premiums of 7% and no real change in deductibles. I know just one person's experience, but based upon on all of the rabble rousing, I would have expected much, much worse.

Not only that, it's pretty damn easy to get ab iphone. It's literally $20-$25 on top of your mobile bill...

(The notion that it might be popular with women for that reason is apparently above his pay grade.)

Apparently the "honorable" Congressman is unaware that men play a part in pregnancy. Or that about half of all fetuses, you know, those fetuses conservatives claim to love so much, are male.

So - no birth control. No Planned Parenthood to provide women's health care. No abortion. Cut Medicaid so birth expenses won't be covered. No prenatal care.

I wonder about the whole ableism angle in the current health care bill. I talked to a friend who works in health care policy for the state. She says some places won't be hit as bad but other states where they rely so much on federal dollars they won't be able to replace that money. The mentally ill not covered by SSI-Disability or Recovering Addicts will be "up against it" as the English say. Some of the people behind this bill strike me as the types who were behind the eugenics movement at the turn of the century.

The war going on right now is hilarious, Ryan and Priebus are telling republicans if they don't vote for it they won't get any money from the RNC for reelection and the Koch brothers are telling lawmakers if they do vote for it they won't get any of their super pac money.
