Repealing Obamacare

Why does it matter. You're just putting up a smoke screen. The plan proposed was single payer and sponsored by a democrat. Democrats wouldn't vote for it, out of spite. Even though the plan is what they propose.

You're not telling the truth right here. The plan was an amendment to the Republicans bill.

You keep arguing and saying things that simply aren't factual.

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/27/politics/health-care-single-payer-senate-vote/index.html

Montana Republican Sen. Steve Daines offered an amendment to the GOP's Obamacare repeal bill Thursday that mirrored, word-for-word, the single-payer insurance program that Rep. John Conyers, D-Michigan, has proposed.

Read your own shit.

"Montana Republican Sen. Steve Daines offered an amendment to the GOP's Obamacare repeal bill"

So what was in the rest of the bill Denny????

Bullshit that's what. It's a REPEAL bill. You don't have to repeal the ACA to institute single payer. IT ALREADY DOES THAT WITH SECTION 1332!!

The Republicans are CLUELESS on healthcare.

So I misspoke. Conyer's bill was the amendment to a bigger bullshit plan and THAT'S why Bernie voted against it.

Stop spewing fake news Denny. Don't put your spin on it.

The rest of the bill was "repeal ObamaCare."

If you institute single payer, you'd repeal ObamaCare since you're wiping out all the fascist government handouts to corporations that you love.

Again, you just spout shit and have no clue about what it means.

Word for word, verbatim. Conyers' bill. The amendment to the republican bill made it exactly into Conyer's bill.

Read up on it, at least. Please...

You're not listening nor do you care. Since you've NEVER read the bill go ahead and read Section 1332 of it.

I've already read up on it and no, you don't have to repeal the ACA to pass Single payer. You keep trying to push fake news. Newsflash Denny:

Dems won't repeal the ACA because you don't have to.

So with single payer, you have to buy insurance from the insurance company or pay a fine? That's ObamaCare.

Doesn't sound like single payer by any stretch.

You got that from some talking points site.

Geez.

If you enact Conyers' bill, word for word, there is no 1332.

And I didn't get it from anywhere. I knew what section 1332 was 9 years ago. You've probably NEVER known about it.

Democrats voting for that would have had the same effect as the Republicans voting 60 times to repeal Obamacare. None.
It wasn't going to pass, it wasn't intended to pass, it was just a political stunt. It makes literally no difference whether anyone voted for it or not.

ugh... YOU DON'T NEED CONYERS' BILL.... So actually read 1332.

I read 1332. It gives states the right to opt out of the republican version of the Bill.

Amended means changed. Amended to be word for word Conyers' Bill made it exactly Conyers' Bill.

Votes count. If there were enough votes, it passes.

Obviously. But everyone knows there weren't enough votes, even if every D had voted aye.

The democrats that voted, voted no.

They had their chance to stand behind their convictions. Convictions.

The only thing more fun than seeing republicans fail at "replacing" ObamaCare will be seeing Democrats fail.

It was a political stunt, not an actual attempt to make laws. You can keep trying to make it something else, but you'll fail like Obamacare repeal.

Meanwhile, in actual legislation news, looks like Alexander/Murray have reached agreement to stabilize Obamacare for the next 2 years. Not done yet, of course, but it's something.

Democrats voted no on everything. They had a chance to vote for what they really wanted, regardless of the chances it'd pass.

How is it a stunt to ask democrats to vote for their favored legislation? They're afraid that voting for it, even in defeat, would lead to them losing their jobs? That's probably it.

It's a stunt because it wasn't about making laws, which is the actual job of congress. It was just political posturing... on many sides, on many sides.

It is about making laws.

Offering bills and amendments and voting on them is how law is made.

You have no clue what would have happened if the amendment got 48 votes. Or if McCain would have voted for it if Democrats did. And so on.

Or if it might have been the starting point for finding compromise.

The problem likely is that it wouldn't get 48 votes. Maybe not even 20. Because it's both a horrible idea and unpopular with the voters.

Sure I do - nothing. It would have failed. It takes 51 to pass.

This is not quite as silly as your "Trump never lies about anything important" argument, but it's close.

You still don't know if it would have failed, because democrats voted "present" instead of for or against their own interest.

How can it be a stunt if The People want single payer, Democrats vote for it (even if it fails to pass), and Republicans don't vote for it?

You talking about "silly." You invented silly.
