Report: Dame won’t sit out if traded to non-Miami team

Wow that’s pretty inclusive company. And when you take it further only one of those players shot 10% from the field and 20% from the free throw line!
Ben Simmons shot 57% from the field last season. Let the adults talk. You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Ben Simmons also had the least turnovers of anyone in that group.

I meant turnovers

lol

Ben Simmons is a scrub and you are going to be crying about it every time he misses a shot or free throw.

He had mental health issues and back issues but he was playing great last season when the Nets were stable and had an 18-2 stretch. Look it up. The talent is still there but he’s been in a bad situation the last 2 seasons. Give him stability and he is still very valuable.
I'm middle of the road on him. I don't think he'll "distract" the likes of Scoot, Shaedon, Ant, Grant, etc, so like @HCP said, worst-case scenario he's an expiring contract next year thrown in to make money match (and save the Blazers about 120M in commitments). Best-case...he plays point big with shooters all over and anchors the defense.

I'd rather have him (with the pick or two that are coming) than Lowry, Herro, or any other guard that we'd have to spin somewhere else anyway. At least there's a shot of upside (unlike Lowry), or a positional fit (unlike Herro).

It would be murder defending the pair of Scoot and Simmons going to the hoop.

I'm curious if Dame starts the season with this Blazer squad waiting for this great trade package and we kick Miami's butt if he'll change his tune?

If Simmons is 100%, he might be the best fit and best player for the young Trail Blazers of anyone in the NBA.
He plays fast, unselfish, and on both sides of the ball. He's also an efficient scorer even if he's not a shooter.
A fully-fit Simmons would be a dream scenario to me. Imagine what he could do for Shaedon Sharpe (and for Scoot Henderson playing off the ball.)

I also think the fact that there would be no pressure to win in Portland for the next couple years would do wonders for Simmons. Not exactly sure what that says about Simmons (if I'm even right).

If he's that good why wouldn't Embiid, Kyrie, KD and Harden want to play next to him? I think you want leaders in your vets around our rookies, not mentally disengaged expensive players who seem to not even like basketball much

See my post above for my guess on that.

Except for Embiid, the other three players you mentioned are about as fickle as you can find.

you could be right but I sure haven't seen any signs of that being what's holding the kid back
Really? You don't think his fear of shooting in the playoffs a couple years ago had anything to do with feeling/fearing the pressure? Also remember that when he went to college, he picked a football school that had been to the NCAA tourney like 6 times in 20 years--ie, no pressure to win.

I think mental blocks are a lack of confidence and you don't pay 60 million for a hesitant player who can't handle pressure....every game has pressure if you play it right...Scoot is going to be pushing this team, not laying back. It's a skill...being a closer and being a hard worker in the gym
His contract should net you a plug and play two way impact player...not a guy you walk on eggshells around.

Unfortunately for us, the Blazers are going to be paying that money to someone regardless. If we're going to be rebuilding, may as well be to someone who has youth/potential and actually plays defense, mental blocks and pressure aversion notwithstanding.

when he actually plays

Send him to Minnesota.
nooooo !! the T-wolves traded all their picks for Rudy Gobert. Portland would get KAT and some 2nds back. A Dame trade to Minnesota would be the worst possible outcome for the rebuild.

All those guys have their own problems. They’re never happy where they are.

Are you really claiming Ben Simmons makes 60 million a year?

no...I was exaggerating..I don't know how much he makes but he's got a big contract if I remember correctly...looked it up...he made 35.5 rounded up last season.. he doesn't come cheap. he'll make just under 38 next year and just over 40 the following year so his two years left will set a team back just under 80 million...I think that money could be better spent

Simmons would be a complete reset of our identity. In a good way. Fast paced, easy baskets, great defense.

You've got more faith in the guy than I do until he proves he can play a season and have an impact.
