Rumor Report: Owner Paul Allen investigating whether Trail Blazers’ problem is roster or coaching

Find a replacement for Olshey and bring in Tony Bennett (currently Virginia Cavaliers head coach) to replace Stotts.

I've always loved that guy! He's been famous for so long.

The big men coaches that would be perfect for us.

1. Kevin McHale
2. Bill Laimbeer
3. Kevin McHale

A big man coach would get the big men to play like big men. This contradicts the whole Stotts philosophy, in which big men are busy making zippy passing decisions instead of receiving the ball for easy beelines to the basket. And little men, when they find themselves under the hoop for layups, whip it out to a teammate standing 30 feet out.

This is why Stotts and Olshey will never hire a big man coach.

Your eyes are failing. Try reading the sentence. I said we entered eternal mediocrity, not a sunny time. Blind to my irony? Put on your bifocals if you can find them...hanging on a string around your neck.

Time to retire and hang up your stat guns. It's your eyes again. You can't trust them anymore. You are short by 2.

In the nine seasons Bob Whitsitt was the GM, the Blazers teams won > 50 games 3 times (4, if you prorate the lockout-shortened 1998-99 season).

And there were 2 49-win seasons. So this is a better description:

In the nine seasons Bob Whitsitt was the GM, the Blazers teams won > 49 games 5 times (6, if you prorate the lockout-shortened 1998-99 season).

In the other seasons, the early years, he won 44, 44, and 46 as he rebuilt without missing the playoffs. All winning seasons. His last season was 50 wins; as soon as he left, 41 wins, 9 fewer. Can you imagine a 9-win instant drop at the departure of Olshey or Pritchard? He had a fantastic 9-year dynasty. No other Blazer GM has come close.

Them's facts was wrong. Get those eyes fixed if you hold yourself out to be a stat guru.

All that and the only thing I learned is you flunked 4th grade math.

50 is not > 50.

Hopefully Paul doesn't think this team is on the right track now that we won a game.

.....or on track because they win a 3rd game in a row playing the lowly Hawks. Combined record of the Lakers, 76'ers and Hawks....35-68.

Deleted that before you posted. Correction:

You see the consequences since he left. If he was so bad, why did the team immediately sink into a pit and never recover? The Blazers should have entered a golden, sunny time, if he was so bad. History has proven you absolutely wrong.

Right....Golden sunny time? Three first round exits in a row his last three years in Portland. That's your idea of a sunny time? Well hell old man, you should be bowing down and kissing Neil Olshey's feet.

Your eyes are failing. Try reading the sentence. I said we entered eternal mediocrity, not a sunny time.

In the nine seasons Bob Whitsitt was the GM, the Blazers teams won > 50 games one time (twice, if you prorate the lock out shortened 1998-99 season).

But...
In the nine seasons Bob Whitsitt was the GM, the Blazers teams won >= 49 games 5 times (6, if you prorate the lockout-shortened 1998-99 season).

Part of the problem is with you, Boss. You should have had your finger on the pulse of this team from the get-go 3 years ago when the team lost 4 of its 5 starters.

Canzano and Blazers Edge often make the opposite criticism, that Allen "meddles." In other articles, they reverse themselves and say he's an absent owner. It can't be both. Either he manages the team too little, or too much.

I think, while he asks the GM daily e-mail questions to keep the GM motivated, he lets the GM do what he wants. Later, Allen plays catch-up to any bad consequences. I wish he had time to be a "meddler," but he has many other enterprises going, and doesn't meddle there either.
