Will there be a mass posting of wanting AV fired if CK is sent to hartford to open the season? Now granted it is the nypost that is reporting this but still even a little bit of concern has to be out there.

I'm not sure I'd disagree with sending him down. I really want to see Krieder be the semi-star we expect him to be, but IMO he simply hasn't outplayed some of the other 'kids' for 'his' spot. Maybe sending him down and giving 'his' spot to someone else for a week or two to start the season will be the kick in the ass the he apparently needs....very frustrating to see someone who obviously has the needed skills, but just doesn't seem to have quite enough motivation or heart to make it work...

So this year he dogged it and doesn't deserve a roster spot and we are ok that this talent is being sent down...yet all season long it was ridiculous that he wasnt given a fair chance?

As i've said before, he was admittedly screwed around by Torts, but that doesn't excuse his poor AHL performance prior to the NHL season starting. His motivation might be an issue and if you look at his pro career the #s aren't very good, regardless of AHL or NHL.

Al, in my opinion the difference is that he just wasnt given a fair chance last season. Most games he was playing about 6 minutes a night, on the bottom lines with Boyle as his C. Hardly any PP time. I think he finished the year averaging 9 or 10 minutes. That's just not enough. If he made one mistake it was pine the rest of the night. That makes a kid play way too tight, I'm sure you know that as you have some experience coaching too. He just wasn't given the minutes or linemates to excel and I think it made his game suffer.

This year he's had a full training camp. He opened the preseason playing with Richards and Nash. If he can't get it together in that situation then it's on him. You can try to make an argument that Tortorella recognized it earlier and that's why he wasn't given any quality minutes but I dont buy it. A kid with his talent needs to be given every opportunity and it seemed last year Torts wouldnt give him that opportunity.

And 31 I'm with you that I was expecting much more out of him in the AHL. I know dump disagrees but again, a kid with his talent should have had a much better performance down there.

Prod...we weren't at practice last year to make those judgement calls whether he was given a fair chance or not. All I'm saying is the coach was killed...now new coach..possible same results.

You're right, it's possible Torts saw something in practice that led him to believe Kreider wasn't ready for those minutes but young guys like him need real game minutes before a judgment can be made. It just seemed like Torts made his judgment before Kreider got any. Guess we'll agree to disagree.

Possible same results? it's been a couple of PRE-SEASON games. For F's sake, Al. Stop with the Torts binky, man. It's an awful shtick.

Call it shtick...I'm calling it hypocrisy

yes, it's a shtick. Because i already know after every missed PP, if Kreider has a down game, after every loss, you'll come here with the "damn Tort system" bullcrap that is going to be insufferable. You've basically lowered yourself to a troll with this Torts stuff.

I'm growing tired of Kreider...I don't know if he is cut out for playing major minutes in a major market. Best thing for us to do is trade his dumbazzzzzzzzzzz to a team like St. Louis and try to come up with a package that gets you an established star. (It will take trading a DZ and a Kreider etc., but you're starting to see that guys like Fast and Lindberg and Kristo are just a bit more savvy, hungry and smart.) Kreider looks like he's a praise-seeker and sort of pretending to play hockey. Problem is, he's young, fast and has a big body -- so it's easy to be fooled. He can dominate weaker opponents, but he just cannot GROW. I 'm not seeing it with him. Even a guy like Kristo -- he gets sent down. You can tear him apart, too. But i watched him. He can do something Kreider -- for all his gifts -- can't: He can create his own shot/ offense. I'm more bullish on Kristo/Nieves/Lindberg/Fast...I don't know if Kreider's confidence is just shot, but he doesn't deserve a spot on this team.

I agree with Poll. I am kinda down on CK now. I think he wants to play for the bruins since he is a Massachusetts guy. I know it does not make sense but I've always felt he does not like playing in New York. Hopefully I am wrong.

I wouldn't necessarily jump to that conclusion. I just think that (after his initial success), he was stuck on a snakebit team that stressed defensive awareness, and he was paired with a taskmaster coach who wasn't going to "mentor" someone who seemed clueless, didn't ask questions (like a Miller or a Stepan did) and looked like he was as milquetoast as possible.

Sounds like Powe will definately be on the roster, who knows with Asham. I'd say the last cuts are Mashinter, Allen, Fast, Bickel, Lindberg and Hrivik. I'm guessing they start Krieder out here, but he needs to get it together.

This is going to be a LONG year with Al and the Torts stuff, we can see that already. I wonder if somewhere inside of Al he wants the Rangers to play poorly so he can say see it wasn't Torts...LOL.

If the Rangers struggle we will see a lot of threads like this with little jabs about Torts in them. All good. I am looking forward to them already...:).

They've scored 8 goals going into Vegas (zero for Nash and Richards) and the concern is Kreider? I think keeping Richards and his bloated salary was a huge mistake. I'd keep Kreider up over the one-dimensional Zuccarello.

On a more positive note it has been statistically established that the Rangers play much better with Captain Cally who's back in the lineup. Finally getting Stepan in the fold helps as well. Hard to proclaim anything after 5 preseason games with shuffled rosters.

Why doesn't anyone get it...it has nothing to do with torts and EVWRYTHING to do with the players. Same players new coach that was the rallying cry. ..well damit I want results. People used the coach as thr main drawback....prove it. Prove it Richards. ..prove it nash. ...you don't want the defensive minded coach..great..but wr better have the talent because we are going to give up more goals.

I am man enough to admit when I'm wrong...but changing yhe coach doesn't instantly solve the problems

At days end, it all comes down to the players, I agree 100%. We'll see how they do.

I am concerned about Richards as well, but I think they believed he was their best option given the options. We'll see if they were right to take that gamble for 1 more season. It is going to be a very interesting watch.

I am excited for the season like always, but as I said in the other thread, I am a little concerned based on what I have been seeing in pre-season. I honestly don't see how anyone could have watched the trash we saw and not be a little concerned at least. Only pre-season, so no need to go over the top, but it was concerning to me. Last night was another awful performance. Down 1-0 right away. Became 2-0 after a terrible PK. Just awful.

Lastly, people get concerned about Richards, and I get it, but I am concerned about Nash also. The guy was horrible in the playoffs, a total no show, and has looked pretty bad in the pre-season, for what that's worth. This dude better wake up and be the stud we expect him to be. That is all I'll say. Otherwise those trades with CBJ will look pretty bad for us. And that's the truth.

Actually, Al, we all get it. Like Chuck said, it's going to be a LONG year of your Torts trolling. We're still in pre-season and you already started with the "dam Torts system" crap. During PRE-season. Think about how sad that is.

I can only imagine what trolling levels you will reach when the season starts and we lose a game 3-0 and go 0-4 on the PP.

I said it from day one. Kreider is not a player that can create his own offense. He needs to be put with a playmaking center, never taken off that line unless he is benched for lack of effort so he can develop chemistry. You have to work him like Kovalev. Bench him when he is stupid. Put him on the same line game after game when he's playing hard and play the heck out of him.

Hopefully Pouliot has a career year and meshes with Brassard/Nash. I think we're in for alot of 2/3 goal games again.
