Rich Cho for executive of the year?

Where did I say Cho shouldn't get credit?

Also, did you read the link to Larry Miller's comments after the trade? By his account, it was an organizational effort, and Miller led the press conference after the trade.

Seems like you're the one who has reality clouded. I said Cho has been a Top 10 GM this year. Sorry if I don't think he is EotY, but I just don't see it. Didn't you start this thread?

Organizational effort. Okay kewl. I'm sure most trades are an 'organizational effort' in that more than just the GM is working on it. Neither of us know what goes on behind the scenes, so lets stop speculating and give credit to the actual GM.

No, your reality is double clouded... I know you are but, what am I? Neener, neener, neener!

I did start the thread. I also made a 2nd post admitting that it was made in jest. I was looking to spark some debate, which I did.

I don't have anything going on tonight and your bored. You wanna get in a back-and-forth pissing match and turn this thread epic? Just say something snide about me personally like you usually do and we can go from there ...

Is that considered baiting? Anyhow, nope, not interested in your or BB30's games tonight. I feel I made a valid point about Cho, supported it with evidence, yet didn't bash him.

I'd like to see you and BB30 go at it. Any chance of that happening?

Being down 23 points in a game where you knew Houston and Memphis lost is the sure sign of the NBA EotY!

Cho mo years! Cho mo years!

Zags, since this thread was made "in jest", does that mean you were trolling the board?

Trolling the board into a discussion about how good of a young GM we have, sure.

Should Cho still win Executive of the Year?

Cho did an OK job, but nothing I would call "Exec of the Year" worthy. He's really got his work cut out for him in the next couple of years and I'm curious as to how he's going to address this team's massive roster related issues.

This was Cho's evaluation year. I think by the end of next year, our team will look very different from how it does now. He reminds me of my friend's dad, who was a professor at Bowdoin. He was the nicest, most patient guy in the world when it came to explaining to his students concepts in his class. He was always supportive when his students struggle and always made extra time for his students when they needed it. People assumed because he was so quiet and nice that he was a pushover. Then they would get their grades. He flunked more people than any other professor at the college. His nickname among the students was "The Silent Fucker". That's Cho.

Cho appears patient, quiet and thoughtful. The inscrutability I believe is a practiced trait. Deep down I think he has a strong vision of where he wants this team to go and has a plan to try to get us there. He knows the players he wishes to keep and the ones he'd sell for a bologna sandwich. I bet he's thought of as kind of a meek guy by the players, and they all think he thinks the world of all of them. And I bet they're surprised when he cuts their throat and dumps their asses.

I liked Cho's "potential" as a GM, from his background as a guy who uses advanced metrics in his evaluations to his participation in a successful front office, and his ledger was in the positive for this season in my view. I didn't like the Bayless deal much, but I loved the Wallace deal and the second strongly outweighs the first for me.

So, I hardly think he was the Executive of the Year, but he's off to a promising start. Getting rid of Pritchard could have been a disaster, if the team had ended up with a terrible replacement (as happened when they got rid of Whitsitt)...fortunately, that was averted.

Catching up on this thread, I came across some more of that good, ol', sound, PapaG argument:

:dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Taking statements out of context to manufacture a point. Very political of you. :)

Anyhow, where did I say that Cho shouldn't get credit? Having Larry Miller por Hat Guy run the show on the trade doesn't mean that Cho wasn't heavily involved in the deal, and didn't help facilitate it, or didn't do most of the legwork to actually get the deal done after running it by Larry Miller.

Derrrrr

Nate McMillan runs the show during games, but does that mean that the assistants shouldn't get credit for helping construct and execute a game plan that leads to a win?
