Rockets are playing .630 ball this year. Last year, they were a .549 team.

.630 is 52 wins. Last year they won 45.

And? You have a point to make?

Were you asking you, or did you want me to ask you? You quoted yourself. ;)

Why is everyone in this thread talking about Lopez compared to Howard overall? Do you not read the original post in a thread?

You realize that the OP was all about Lopez' defensive performance this year as compared to Howard's, right? Everyone talking about offensive stats, MVP votes, etc--you've completely missed the point.

I think that thread headings have less to do with comments than comments about the comments in these threads. It's not a surprise for folks to wander around a topic. How many times have I seen a thread about the bench that turns into a Batum debate?

And by the way, I think Lopez is the deal of the century!

The numbers show that the Rockets' record is better with Howard. Refute it, since that seems to be your intent.

No. However, you are explicitly saying is seem to be my intent. My interjection was simply to insert a minor correction in your statement. Kind of like you did when I said Taj Gibson was terrible. Double standard much? Come one Denny. Read PtldPlatypus' post. I agree with him.

I'd just like to point out how that worked for the Lakers last season and the Magic before that....and how many teams have won rings without a dominant big man. It's a guards game in the modern era. I don't believe Howard is a difference maker and am not convinced that the Rockets will win more with him than they did with Asik. Pistons, Bulls and Heat all won rings without dominant centers.

They are winning more with him than Asik.

But turn it into something else. Knock yourself out.

Like I said, 25 games into a season does not a season make. At the end of the season they may be better, but I'm not crowning them better yet. And yes, I do want Howard to fail. Also if the Rockets in mid December have a higher winning percentage than all of last season's tally, some credit is due to the team? Just saying...Howard is not the team.

I don't have any vested interest in Howard doing well or the Rockets doing well. They had an awful start, FWIW, when they were playing twin towers of Howard and Asik. Maybe their record since benching Asik is even more impressive than their overall record.

Howard isn't the team, sure. But when you add a MAX contract guy to the team, you expect more wins, and the wins are there. And it's way easier to improve 33 games from 33 wins to 66 than it is to improve 33 wins from 45 to 78 wins. Nobody's ever won 78 games, ya know.

As for this thread being somewhat about Howard, the frigging first post compares Lopez to Howard. Sue me for talking about Howard :)

This is the internet people have shown trouble with reading comprehension since the beginning. Why do you think youtube and instagram are so popular people who can't read use those site to do things on the internet other than porn.

It is easier to win a title with a dominant big man, but there are no dominant big men in today's NBA. That's why teams like the Heat have won titles. And the fact that Lebron James is on the team. The last dominant big man was Shaq. I don't see any others coming up through the ranks either.

Tim Duncan?

Extremely bizarre thread. The salary disparity between Lopez and Howard which has been ignored here is SUPER SUPER relevant.

Even IF Howard wanted to sign with us we'd have had to dump multiple starters and we would not have as good a record as we have now. That being said such a deal would still be a very good deal. However, getting Lopez for a very small amount of cap space has been an absolute steal. That's the point of the thread.
