ROCKETS @ BLAZERS - GAME THREAD - 11/05/13, 7:00 PM, TUESDAY (1 Viewer)

It's not just free throw attempts. It's the way that teams are allowed to defend.

But it works both ways. LeBron has the same limitations when he's trying to defend Derrick Rose. But he's able to shut him down.

If the game were more physical do you really think a 250lb LeBron would have a disadvantage?

In general the NBA has far and away the worst refs of all sports. Part of that is the nature of the game, basketball is a difficult sport to ref. Its more than that though I agree inconsistent calls are a problem. Like the new delay of games, they call it as a warning right away in the first quarter but then never call a tech for it. What the hell is the point? If a team is delaying intentionally it should be called every single time regardless of them having a warning or not.

So yes inconsistent calls or star treatment is annoying to watch when its happening and makes the games appear tainted. I just believe LeBron is the worst example of that as he gets very few star calls.

No he doesn't... that's also part of the superstar treatment. When was the last time LeBron fouled out of a game? Has he ever fouled out of a game?

How often do SF foul out? Batum has only fouled out 3 times in his career all back in 2010. LaMarcus has only fouled out once each of the last two seasons as a PF.

Brandon Roy fouled out twice in 2007 and once in 2009. So 3 times in his career.

LeBron has fouled out once in 2004, once in 2006 and once in 2008.

Honestly LeBron would be beast mode in the 80s and 90s. A champ like him would make the proper adjustments for his time, and tell me what other player other than Karl Malone had his psycho physical dimensions. He'd bully people around too.

Not sure if it's already been posted (don't feel like wading through an argument about Lebron James, of all things) in this "game thread", but Freeland is listed as day-to-day after sustaining a left hip strain on Saturday. But he was at practice and it doesn't look serious.

I also read that McCollum has shed his walking boot and was on a stationary bike today. Still no timetable for a return.

Glad to hear Freeland is better but don't honestly know if he improves the team over the alternatives.

That is very shocking with McCollum a bone break isn't something you normally increase activity from until its 100% healed.

What exactly did they do again to fix his broken bone?

You're still listing All-Star players, so it's not really the best example of the refs calling the game fairly. How many times has Chris Paul fouled out? Lillard has had some foul trouble so far this season because of his increased intensity on defense. How often does Paul get into foul trouble? Point guard is probably the hardest position to defend, wouldn't you think?

So Batum and LaMarcus get the same allstar treatment as LeBron James. Thanks for proving my point.

Lillard has never fouled out he had 5 fouls once.

I just wanted to pipe in that Howard is very much a below average defender 20 feet from the basket, and not the greatest 15 feet from the basket where LMA plays.

The Parsons/Batum matchup will also be big tonight.

Rockets are going to come to the Moda jacket up from a bad loss of the 1st game of a back to back.
The Clips are kicking their ass.

49 points halfway through the 2nd and you're DOWN 13?!?!

Are the Clips going to get a 75pt half? 80?

did something happen to DwightMare? Box score shows only 4pts/2reb in 6 minutes--other starters are at 16. Are they just going small-ball?

He picked up early fouls in the first trying to guard Griffin. Maybe we'll be lucky and have the same thing happen tomorrow night.

No way the nba let's them lose two in a row. We are playing 5-8 tomorrow

Man after watching that Clippers-Rockets game I'm not so sure about Houston's interior defense. Sure CP3 can make any team look silly, but Howard just looks like a different (lesser) player - no lift, sort of stiff, and definitely not the same guy he was 2 or 3 years ago.
