:reading:BLAZERS' GAME NOTES
• The Trail Blazers split the season series 2-2 with the Rockets last season. Portland won the first two games against the Rockets,
both in overtime, and Houston won the final two matchups.
• Three of the past seven games played between the Trail Blazers and Rockets have gone into overtime.
• The last three of the last four contests between the two teams played at the Moda Center/Rose Garden have been decided by seven points or fewer.
• In nine of the past 11 meetings between Portland and Houston, the winning team has scored 100-plus points.

GO BLAZERS!!!

This will be an interesting test for both teams.

Can't wait for this game!!!!! The only thing I question about Houston is their depth! Would love to test that Tuesday night!!!

And no disrespect to anybody, but god dammit....stop calling Lopez RoLo! That might possibly be the lamest shit ever!

Why?

Fro-Pez better for you?

I just cringe when I see people call him that. It's just lame as shit.

Someone remind me to buy HCP a year supply of Rolo... you know, you get hungry on those long road trips.

I think I'm going to change HCP's moniker to HOPO.

Really? I think they're one of the deeper teams in the league.

Only three players played off Houston's bench during their last game. Jones, Brooks, and Garcia. They scored 18 points.

They usually have Lin coming off the bench, Caspi, Ronnie Brewer, Greg Smith, Montiejunas can play...

This would be a big win, give the two best Texas teams their only losses on the year. Houston has to play at LAC on Monday so you think that would help having them on the second of a back to back while we rest.

Pretty unique going against a defense with two DPOY level centers on the court at once. I'm not sure what the counter strategy should be against those guys. Pick and pops? Try to spread their team defense out with 3 pointers?

Lots of 18 footers. Lots of 3's. Unless Dame can penetrate and Robin can block out.

This could turn into an ugly game. Not feeling too hot on this one.

Lins starting because Beverly is hurt. Casspi is hurt. Brewer and Motiejunas are terrible I hope they are on the court.

I just don't see any way LaMarcus and Lopez can play to a draw inside against Dwight and Asik. I think we still should start with the normal starting lineup but if it isn't working I'd make substitutions early and go small ball with LMA at the 5 to spread them out. Just run and gun up the court. We will lose the rebounding battle but those two centers are not offensive threats, so we don't need to worry about defending their centers. With shooters everywhere and speed we could cause them problems. I'd love to see Asik trying to guard Wesley or Batum on the perimeter.

Stupid game isn't national, so I can't see it.

Houston has the same comcast issue that Portland does. No comcast, no Rockets or Astros. They are only in the second year of the fiasco though.

I hope we see "LaMonster" this game. I think he is one of the only players that can work Howard when he tries to play him single coverage.

I think the biggest "X factor" will be Matthews. He needs to stay in front of harden like he's on a mission from God (excuse the blues brothers reference). Matthews needs to score and make harden work on the defensive end!

Note to Lillard: you are a star and just do what you've been doing!

This feels like a bad match up, but maybe the Blazers will surprise me?

I agree with all of you. This does seem like a bad matchup, Wes needs to play tough D on Harden, and small ball making Asik guard someone away from the basket will be interesting to watch.

I know we have talked a lot about LMA taking less 18 footers, but the Houston game may not be the one to stop. It will be tough getting baskets underneath with this years version of the twin towers.

This game belongs to Damian. He needs to dominate Lin.

isn't there free league pass the first week or so?

I'd split time and use both Wes and Nic on Harden

I just think harden is soooo good at getting to the line. Batum is more of that player that tries to keep the player in front of him. I think harden is too herky jerky for batum to stay with him. Matthews is more of a physical defender, that bumps and works best with that type of player.

I dunno though. I could be wrong

Something to watch out for regarding Lin:

Incorrect.

I have league pass, so that is not an issue.

I can't watch the game because it is Houston playing, and will be blacked out here in Houston because it will be on local tv. Local tv here is comcast sports sw, which is having the same contract dispute that comcast sports nw is having with Directv.

So no Blazer game for me
