Desantis refered to Florida governor democractic nominee, Andrew Gillum as a monkey. Desantis is trash just like the fat clown who endorsed him.

Good grief, the outrage...

He did not refer to him as a monkey, he was obviously talking about his agenda..

quote “The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state,” said DeSantis to Smith.

Stephen Lawson, communications director for DeSantis’ campaign said the comments were about Florida’s economy.

“Ron DeSantis was obviously talking about Florida not making the wrong decision to embrace the socialist policies that Andrew Gillum espouses. To characterize it as anything else is absurd,” Lawson said. “Florida’s economy has been on the move for the last eight years and the last thing we need is a far-left democrat trying to stop our success.”

I am sorry if you have never used that term, to monkey with something, but is a more family friendly of saying the equivalent of "Fuck this up" or to fool with something.

This hyper sensitive stance that many feel they need to take is ridiculous.

I have an old Monkey Wrench on the boat. It is handy for some quick jobs. This might be one.

The inference was clear. Everybody knows you don't say shit like that. EVERYBODY
Personally, I think he's nothing but a pig wallowing in the mud.

I'm going to guess that everyone who primarily votes democrat will say that he was being intentionally racist, and everyone who primarily votes republican will say that the phraseology was completely acceptable.

If anybody's personal interpretation differs from my perception, please let me know.

C'mon....

In this day in age of neurolinguistic programming, you choose what you say carefully.

You think? I honestly think Chris should get a disclaimer like Maris..

Hey bro.... Have you met @Chris Craig ????

Well I have, and he's not only a great man, but an amazing human. One you'd love to be friends with.

Don't you EVER lump him into the same group as Maris....

EVER.

They are not cut from the same cloth.

I find that terribly sad to even consider that we resign our selves to that..

Fine, fine, I will take your word for it.

Can we get him a Parrot and an eye patch, like Barfo?

...well, I for one am not a democrat but I think he used very poor judgment. But I also think most people are way too thin skinned nowadays.

No doubt it was a poor choice of words, and that he should have known better. But nice to see that there are people who can see a poor word choice and not immediately assume actual racism.

I am heartened.

Thin skinned would mean they feel devastated that the guy is racist. I don’t think that’s the case for most. However, most of us don’t want a racist to represent us or make policy decisions. That’s not being thin skinned it’s being thoughtful about our leadership.

I don’t know it was intentional dog whistle racism but in today’s world I think the chances are greater that it was intentional.

I wasn't referring to this instance per se...I was talking about things in general.

...and that's part of our problem...people are too easily offended by what others say...not by what they DO, again, not by what they actually DO, but instead what they say....what ever happened to "sticks and stones..."?

I'll have to learn more about this guy to make a call. If it fits into a pattern of racism, then it was probably intentional or a Freudian slip. If he's not got a racist bone in his body (or racist muscle, or racist fat) then it was probably just an infelicitous word choice.

That expression has been used frequently before in an attempt to demean African-Americans. I just draw the line at demeaning any racial group of people. I once slugged an ass hole for demeaning my Asian wife when he didn't realize I was close by. I just don't put up with that shit, not at all.

I was once on a casino shuttle bus from Portland to Spirit with my wife and her sister. They were speaking their native language to each other and two old ladies started complaining about people who lived here and spoke a different language. Apparently, any such speech was considered taboo. I tore into those two busy bodies until they shut up for the rest of the trip. I don't like it, I don't like it at all.

Well I do have bit of a different take. You are probably not old enough to remember a Monkey wrench. Today's adjustable wrench, probably first referred as the Crescent Wrench which replaced the Old Monkey wrench.

Now in those days, no one hated the guy that named the Monkey wrench. Since Howard Cosell suddenly offended the world with his "look at that Monkey run" comment on National TV. The world has been searching even more ridiculous reasons to signal their righteousness when the word Monkey is uttered. Even when the contexts just does fit the indignity. I don't think it is Democrat or Republican, perhaps young vs older. Perhaps just some searching for indignities to clarify their purity.

But I suspect they will, Carry on!

I could have used your help when another ass hole made a direct threat to kill my wife. But you declined. I should have let that State Cop persuade you a bit.

I've voted Dem. I wouldn't say what he said was racist.

It was just stupid. He's smart enough to choose different words.
This. Unless it's something he grew up saying, or whatever, need to choose words better

See you be on that bullshit...

You're literally gonna act like it was ok that Cosell said that? Even back then people knew that was a horrible thing to say. See back then, just like often now, you're on the wrong side of history.

Andrew Gillum is about to be interviewed on Lawrence O'Donnell.

That's the only show I watch on MSNBC.

Desantis is fucking disgusting... This is way worse than the idiotic comment. Here needs to keep running this ad if he wants to lose:

And frankly, the trump cock guzzling just needs to stop...
