Based on a number of things, I believe Carroll has a small guarantee, probably on the scale of Robert Hite last season, around $20,000.

Subtract KVH as of October 31 at the latest and assume Carroll doesnt make the team (no player with a partial guarantee has made NBA opening night roster in either of the last two years) and you're still at 15 with some obviously holes at shooting guard and possibly back up point guard. It argues for a trade.

Well, we have 2 untradeables in Hassel and Simmons

VC, Harris, Yi and the rookies should be safe

Boone and Sean are coveted and valuable young bigs. When packaged with a bigger contract (Stro)could bring you back a Camby or a Nocioni.

And then we have Ager and Marcus who we cant seem to give away

So I think Stro and Marcus are goners. And we might have to include one of Boone or Sean to make it work(probably Boone)

Sign Krstic -- the market is low for him right now because of the injury woes and lack of competition for him. We'd sign him for cheap.

Resign Boki and use him, Boone, and KVH to get a sweet shooting spot-up guard who can defend. Our 3-point shooting is atrocious as currently constituted and Marcus Camby wouldn't help that.

Some names of guards with 2 years left on their contracts: Quentin Richardson, Raja Bell, Jason Kapano, DeShawn Stevenson (no, I'm not taking into consideration whether these teams would want Boki and Boone). Bell especially can shoot and defend, and perhaps the Suns would like a 3 in Boki because Grant Hill is getting old, and Boone can support Amare and Shaq.

No matter what transpires, it's obvious that defense will be a big question mark as training camp opens.

By no stretch of the imagination is Najera a SF. He was a PF and occasional C in Denver. Not to sound like a conspiracy guy, but by pitching Najera as a potential starting SF it seems to me D'Allesandro is just transcribing management spin so they don't have to answer questions about their now-too-crowded power rotation. After this move it seems obvious that one (or two) of our favorite young bigs is on the way out. Just a hunch.

KVH is only a partial guarantee. He and others are most likely being traded.

Ok, how about a resigned Boki and Boone for Raja Bell -- gives us perimeter defense and a decent enough three-point shooter, plus we have no room for Boki and Boone's a career backup on a winning team. Raja has two years left. The salaries seem to match up pretty well, and I think the Suns might consider it since Boki fills somewhat of a need with their lack of a spot-up-shooting-oriented SF/PF.

You know what's really sad?

No one from our Summer League team can make our team then. Unless we start making trades that package people and consolidate, goodbye Jaycee Carroll, Richard Roby, and Julius Hodge.

That sucks because I'm starting to drink the kool-aid, and it's giving me visions where Carroll is more fun to watch than Marcus Williams *sip* oh, he's shooting the 3 better than him, too!

Why not? Well, other than the fact that you have an ungodly man-crush on Boone.

But anyways, why not do this trade? It gives us something we need, and makes the front court less overcrowded.

I really beleive it when Ratner and Thorn say we want to win in the 2 years before the 2010 free agency.

I think we only have 3 starters for next year on the team now: Harris, VC, Yi.
We still need a starting C and a starting SF. Najera and young Lopez will not do it.

I really hope Najera will be a S+T for our 3,3mill TE, so we can go after Dooling with the MLE for 2 years.

I also beleive we will trade Krstic (S+T), KVH's contract, Stro, Hassell, Ager, Marcus, Boone and/or Swat.

I still beleive we need Nocioni (who is also from Argentina, so he fits the marketing plan), and I also like Camby a lot.

I'd love something like this:

Harris/ Dooling /Carroll
VC/ CDR/ Hodge
Nocioni/ Simmons/ Hayes
Yi/ Anderson/ Najera
Camby/ Lopez/ Boone or Swat or some vet's min C

Simmons, Camby and Dooling would all expire in 2010... That will be about 25 mill expiring...

I think these 2 trades are pretty fair:

Krstic (S+T) + Marcus + Boone + KVH contract
for Camby


Stro + Ager + Sean
for Noc


My only problem with these that i did't trade away Hassell...
But I think there is a good chance Chi and Den take these.

And who exactly would be our reserve guards? The Camby deal I guess is plausible but the Nocioni deal is way too much tilted in the Nets favor. My point is that our guard situation is much worse than our frontline situation. Why am I the only one recognizing this? I don't know why Dave D'Allesandro is floating that Camby trade anyway. Besides, he said he's just speculating, and he has a bad history with predicting trades (remember Hinrich and Darius Miles for Jason Kidd lol he wasn't even close).
