ROY must come off the bench now!!

I've watched all the games, and there's no way around it Roy is killing this teams ball movement every time he's out there. The last few games he's not looking for his teamates just the foul which lately he's not been getting. His quick first step is gone and now he's just a jump shooter at best with no defense. SORRY! IT'S True!

Team now needs to be build around Mathews, Batum and LA! If we need a 2-9 shooter who can make a three now and than BROY can come off the bench.

No need to feel bad for him, 90 mill will cushion that ego blow! I'm sure Patty has an extra towel for Brandon to cheer with.

A long, long time ago the Spurs came to realize they get their best productivity out of Ginobili by giving him a bench role and around 28 mpg. He lasted 8 seasons doing that while winning championships. It's time to sit Roy down and discuss with him how he's got to fit into that mold, because this just isn't working.

His PER has plummetted to 16.5, and it's only dropping every game. He's basically putting up the same numbers Batum used to as a starter but on much worse shooting, and with piss-poor defense.

Stats don't tell the whole story, especially in this case. Things have changed, the team needs to as well.

That's largely a consequence of the pretty good performances he had early on (and not so coincidentally when we were winning) and he was playing 40 mpg. And even when he wasn't playing well early on, opponents were still defending him like he was in midseason form last year. Sadly, teams have noticed and are playing him differently.

A win where he plays 40 minutes is going to count for more than a loss where he plays 34 minutes in that stat, because he'll have spent more time on the court while winning than time on the court while losing.

I also think more teams are exploiting him on the defensive end more than ever before. It seems like more and more you see the other team's worst starter say to himself, "Dang, I can go dunk on Brandon Roy."

It is really amazing how far he has fallen since the mid-to-end of last season when he was playing at a very high level. Was that last surgery really the straw the broke the camel's back? Surprising that it made such a huge impact on his body and his game, especially with an entire summer of rest. How depressing.

That's the most disappointing part. If he were this way in April, you could sort of just hope for him to play out the season and recover over the summer.

The play right now is Roy's "upside." With a little luck and some careful management, we may get this level of productivity for several years. *sigh*

I want to see Roy off the bench for 25 minutes a game. Maybe he could put a bit of effort into defense if he knows he won't have to play 38 minutes. Ron Harper blew out his knees and was a shell of his former offense self but he evolved into a great defender on a 72 win team. Since Roy can't effectively and efficiently carry the offensive load of a team he needs to learn to fill in on other aspects that help the team.
