Rudy may want out? (MERGED)

I think it might be a bit early to call for Rudy's head. The article cited "league sources" and they only talked about Euro teams trying to woo Rudy. Of course they are!

Until someone more reputable then league sources makes the same statements, I will take this with a very large grain of spainish sea salt.

So would we rather have a 30-year-old Hedo or a 24-year-old Rudy, and give Rudy some more playmaking opportunities?

I want Rudy. He is so skilled on both ends of the court. He still has things to work on, but overall, if his rookie year was any indication of what's to come, we would be foolish to move him for any player that isn't an All Star or has the potential to be one.

Re: Rudy may want out?

That must be why he ran baseline alley-oops to his SG off of back picks. Because he has "no creativity". :dunno:

Suuuuuure. That was Nate who did that and not Sergio and Rudy doing something that they had clearly done many, many, many times before.

Rudy/Outlaw/Batum/Bayless/2010 #1 for Harris/CDR

Harris/Blake
Roy/CDR
Hedo/Web
LMA/Pendergraph
Oden/Przy

I'd be more than happy with that.

C'mon. Where are all the Mr. Sonic jock sniffers? Yet another player complaining how he was used by Nate.

Re: Rudy may want out?

WTF is this shit?!

There were unsubstantiated rumors of Rudy being unhappy about us supposedly being after Brandon Rush last year as well. I'll reserve judgment on this until there is absolute confirmation that Rudy is pissed.

Oh my god! A voice of reason! Don't you know the rule on message board is:
1) speculate
2) condemn
3) find out the facts - maybe

I don't blame Rudy, if true, for being frustrated and for being honest about it if he did. He came over to the NBA and gave up a considerable amount of money... for what? So he could come off the bench as a spot-up shooter in one of the lowest-scoring offenses in the NBA?
Ed O.

If your take is accurate, then I don't want him on the Blazers. That's a pretty "me-first" way of framing why Rudy came to the USA. Another reason could have been to win a title in the best league in the world, or to measure himself against the best players in the world. Yet, from at least a few reports over the past year, we are hearing rumors of what could be a very selfish player.

Hopefully this all is a misunderstanding/misreporting and there's nothing to it, but if it's true I hope we can at least extract value out of him rather than having to let him go back to Spain like Memphis did with Navarro.

Ed O.

Was Navarro under contract like Rudy was?

Rudy whining about how he was used, when during the season he was talking about how run-down and tired he was. Give me a break.

Oh, well then shit... He must be a horrible person if there are rumors about him.

Cheers to Chris Sheridan for inciting a near Blazer board riot with his rumors and suppositions. Nothing like a half-baked soap opera plot to liven up the sports news cycle!

Sounds to me that the same meddling Spanish agent that was upset over Rush is at it again.

Who were the others? Bench players? Sergio? LOL yeah that never happens on every team.

Regardless of whether this rumor is true or not, I still feel that Rudy will need to be moved in the long run. It's not like we're grooming him behind an older shooting guard. Brandon Roy will be here for years to come, so unless we plan on losing Rudy to free agency (which I think will happen), we should probably deal him.

Rudy can get 12 minutes behind Roy and 12 minutes behind our starting PG in a rotation that includes Bayless.

The reason Rudy was not used for his handle/passing last year was because we were "forced" to play Sergio with his ball dominating dribbling.

Let's for the purpose of this argument guess that Blake is still our starting PG (but you can replace him with whoever you want). Blake and Roy start in the back-court, Roy goes out, Rudy comes in and plays SG, Blake goes out, JB comes in and plays PG or SG next to Rudy. Rudy gets his 24 minutes per game, maybe more when the team goes small and runs PG, Rudy, Roy, Hedo, LMA or when the team goes big and runs Roy, Rudy, Hedo, LMA, Greg.

There is no real problem. The person that will lose minutes next year will be Batum - and that's OK - we have the time to bring him along slowly.

Again, the problem was Sergio and his need for minutes and our need to play Batum long minutes. We played a 4 guard rotation last year and had to slide Rudy/Roy to SF to find extra minutes for Rudy. All Hedo does is take Batum's minutes down from 19 to 12. Webster, Outlaw are trade bait.

Re: Rudy may want out?

That's not much of an argument at all.
It's a lot better argument than yours.

Nate turned Rudy into the best rookie 3pt shooter in NBA history, and everyone is pissed about it. Are we positive that Nate will not expand his role after he gets out of his ROOKIE year?

Basing McMillan's boring/almost predictable offense on an out of bounds play is not a good argument at all.

You think Rudy will be happy with 24 MPG? He played 26 MPG last year! He wants an even bigger role. These spanish players are starting to piss me off.

When you put it this way, it doesn't make sense why Rudy would be complaining; which is probably not the case....

Why is it that the same people who were pissed a Prichard for not making a move, are mad we're going to make a move and it's going to squeeze minutes from people like Rudy?

I think Rudy should be our starting PG, but that's a greater debate for a slower summer day.

I think someone on blazersedge said it best:

I'd rather have Rudy for $1M than Hedo for $10M.

I was on the fence about Turkoglu the whole time, but never really liked the idea. I'm starting to really lean that way.
