Rudy may want out? (MERGED)

Why do you keep putting words in my mouth? If you want to ask a question, great, but you are assuming things that I didn't say.

Man.. I'm just joking with you hence the 'haha' at the end of it. Don't take everything all so seriously.

If true though, I would prefer our Cap to be used at PG and Rudy to stay. Not so much to please him.. I just think our money is better used elsewhere.

So the Blazers will overpay a 30 year old player and lose a young player with pretty good talent.

KP seems smarter than this.

Or maybe KP didnt expect this? :dunno:

our 3 position is essentially fine. just some better experience and let them grow into it....sure, Hedo has playoff experience but in 5 years, so will TROUT, martell and Batum (whomever's left).

Great. Ship him to Milwaukee or some other crap hole with a bad team.

why, out of spite?

please. put the best team for a long playoff run together. Rudy is a great part and player for winning teams IMO.

Turkey Glue is overrated. He'll play well at times but he's getting older and not worth the big money.

I am pretty certain that this entire going after Turk is a clear sign that the Blazers are ready to consolidate - so there is probably a move for a PG that is waiting to happen...

Even without the Rudy drama - we had Webster, Outlaw and Batum fighting for minutes behind Turk. The plan is clearly to do something more...

The only thing this Rudy drama brings, imho, is that maybe it opens an opportunity to get a better PG than the Hinrich/Miller class that we could get without moving Rudy. Either a move on Harris or Hinrich and Deng or TT combo - something like that.

Or maybe the story is bogus!

honestly... thats what I'm thinking too.. it just doesnt make sense.. how did someone go to "FUMING" in about 12 hours and wanting to leave the nba?

+1 .

I'm not wild about Hedo, but I have to think he'd at least improve the team. If Rudy can't handle his team being improved by bringing in proven NBA players, ship him to a team in the East where he can be "the man" and win 20 games.

I'm not saying I believe this report, however. If it's not true, I fully expect Rudy to accept whatever role he is given next year and to perform well in it.

Rudy Mad About Turk?

SORRY - DIDN"T SEE OTHER POSTS, MY BAD>

What's this about? I'm not even clear about why Rudy is would be upset about Turg coming to the team.

"Portland's pursuit of a certain player from Turkey has infuriated the Trail Blazers' lone remaining Spanish player, Rudy Fernandez, to the point where he'd prefer to play in Greece, Russia or even Spain again, ESPN.com learned Tuesday.

A league source told ESPN.com that Fernandez has already been courted informally by European powerhouses Olympiacos, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and CSKA Moscow as word spread that the Blazers had become the apparent front-runners to land free agent Hedo Turkoglu.
...

The Blazers have been made aware of Fernandez's feelings, the source said. The source added that Fernandez has not formally requested a trade but has expressed his dissatisfaction with the way he was used by Portland coach Nate McMillan over the course of his rookie season."

Agreed. This pretty much sums up my feelings about this situation. I can't believe we're dealing with something like this...ugh...

$10M for an aging player that is inconsistent, isn't really efficient and is surely declining.

I honestly don't get what KP is thinking here.

It certainly could be false, but it's not like we saw this on someone's damn twitter page or something. This was on ESPN, and I would bet this source was checked out pretty good before this went to print. Parts could have been taken out of context, but as a whole I'll bet it was pretty accurate.

I'll be interested to see what Rudy says about it on his blog.

I agree that Rudy didn't get the most out of his talents, or should I say, his apparant talents, because we only rarely got to see him make a nice pass or penetrate.

But I'm not totally convinced that is McMillen's fault. When Rudy has the ball, it's up to him to decide what to do with it. He didn't penetrate or try to create plays for his teammates. 80% of his shots were 3 pointers. The dude really needs to show he has a more diverse game than that.

I think the basic question is whether either Rudy or Roy can play enough minutes at the 1 or 3 to give them both starter minutes.

I totally understand where Rudy is coming from (if the rumor is true), and I completely agree that Nate stifles creativity. I think Nate has to become more flexible. And we should work for a star PG, not a 3.

Not to mention he missed at least 70% of his midrange jumpers.

I'd be intrigued by a Roy/Rudy/Hedo ball-handling team; if it makes Rudy happy and the end result is better than Blake/Roy/Batum, I'm golden.

Me too. I could roll with that lineup. Trade Blake and Outlaw for whatever.

Rudy/Outlaw/Batum/Bayless/2010 #1 for Harris/CDR

Harris/Blake
Roy/CDR
Hedo/Web
LMA/Pendergraph
Oden/Przy

I'd be more than happy with that.

I would LOVE this too! More then the former.

Was Navarro under contract like Rudy was?

Nope, 1st and 2nd round.

I'd like to trade RRubio for Basel. pls.

sidebar:
i hope this is all a big misunderstanding w/Rudy and ESPN.

Who is RRubio? Stop being a wussy.

This off-season is starting to look fucking shitty, man.

Why? If we can off Rudy and other guys for a top level PG, this makes our team better. Stop having man crushes on all our players.

Starting lineup next season:

G Brandon Roy
G Rudy Fernandez
F Hedo Turkoglu
F LaMarcus Aldridge
C Greg Oden

Let's go big, and scrap the PG idea.

Again, that would be a cool to run with. But I think Rudy just showed his true loyalty to our team.

If you thought Aaron Brooks dribbled by Blake at will...

Oden would get 2 fouls in the first 5 minutes of every game with that line-up.

Good point!

KP seems smarter than this.

Exactly. KP is smarter than this. And I would rather have a loyal 30 year old who just wants to play then a 24 year old crybaby.

Me too. I will also be looking forward to hearing what the team says.

+1

I wonder if NJ, Memphis, or Milwaukee would be interested in a deal including Bayless and Fernandez for any of their young point guards.

Adding Turk, keeping Blake, and adding either Sessions, Conley, or Harris would be wonderful turn of events.

i have a feeling this is bs rudy being angry and what not... could we have bayless roy rudy for 1,2 batum and hedo at 3 and trade martell outlaw blake for a b/u pf and future considerations? fuck you kp for having so many damn talented players on our team :(....

in kp i trust! hes got this shit handled i bet

In all the ways that count (meaning on the court), Rudy seems like a team player. I don't totally blame him for wanting to start -- it shows his drive. That said, it's far more important to be on the floor at the end of the game when it's all on the line. If he's on the floor at those times (and I expect he generally will), he'll be happy.
