If the thread were, "Potential impact of all-NBA player coming out", then that would be different.

All I've been saying, from the beginning, is that @fryed247 has a point in his objection to the basis for the thread.

I moved the Barkley thread because the conversation wasn't about the all star game or basketball.

I'm keeping an eye on this thread, the conversation is about basketball/basketball players so I'm not seeing a reason to move it.

At some point I'm surprised we don't see a starting caliber NBA player say he's gay for the money. Collins ended up with the #1 selling jersey for awhile and he was a 15th man scrub.

This thread is similar to the Zbo recently being accused of beating a woman and the Laker player getting recorded cheating on his girlfriend. Both of those were Off Topic and Gossip but they both were about NBA players. Those threads weren't moved.

That said, I did move the Charles Barkley thread because it stopped being about basketball and the all star game and drifted into a subject that is more suited for the Off Topic subforum.

This thread appears to be headed the same way, so like I originally said in this thread I'll keep an eye on it and move it if continues to not be about Westbrook.

I don't have any big issue with this thread remaining, but I would argue all those threads belonged in off topic. The initial post may be informational (may be), but the followup ends up being pure junk.

So, you're saying that the forum populace finds it significant enough to warrant a thread if a player is a wife-beater, but thinks that threads about players' sexual orientation are stupid, pointless, and belong in the OT section?

Its up to every public athlete to find out what their comfort level is. But i sure as hell wish more of them would stand up. Several entertainment and several political figures have identified as LGBT but the pro sports landscape only has a few brave souls. That Cardinals minor leaguer who only came out after he quite baseball due to homophobic locker room attitudes was heart breaking.

Yeah, last closet - female athletes and one Division I coach are coming out, at least some but then female athletes were always seen as "suspect". It's why many go so far out of their way to show husbands/kids (like that proves anything!) But guys? Mostly stuck in the 1950s. The Warriors' GM is out and was Grand Marshall at Pride last year, but he is not, nor was he ever, a player (player in the basketball sense).

Oranges are my favorite fruit because they kind of look like little basketballs, and their name starts with 'O', so I feel like every one is an homage to Lillard.
