Sam Amico: Blazers have talked to Sixers about Noel

The ignorance of comments like this lolol.
It's not really an ignorant comment. Maybe could be worded different. Stotts understands defense because his offense is designed to take advantage of defenses. But to think this teams defense wouldn't improve dramatically if someone like Thibs, who preaches defense over everything else, was our coach is ignorant as well.

Not necessarily a 3rd PG but a 3rd guard. Could be a SG or a combo-guard.
Turner and Crabbe are both SFs and are being forced to play out of position
Lmao. This is such a bad argument. They're wing players, ala 2 or 3. The positions don't even matter. It's like youre saying there's a difference between little and small, or large and big.

They don't regularly bring the ball up the court, so they're not PGs, but they play on the perimeter. One can dribble, one can shoot, which can both be looked at as guard skills. You need to stop pedaling this idea you have. And the idea that we need a "SG" over a big because you think Crabbe and Turner can only be played in one of the two off-ball perimiter positions makes no sense.

They're playing too big. If you play with just one of them, as a SF, with both Dame and CJ, it's different than playing CJ, Crabbe and Turner (or Dame instead of CJ) and the first lineup would be more effective. Not just because Dame and CJ are better players, IMO even Napier, CJ and one of Crabbe or Turner would be a better lineup. At the very least if you play just one of CJ or Dame with Crabbe and Turner you need Harkless or at least Meyers as small ball/stretch 4, otherwise you're playing too big and the numbers don't lie, Crabbe and Turner both have terrible +/- numbers, probably the worst in their careers, this lineup simply doesn't work

Sorry, but I just don't see how this teams defensive ceiling is anything more than average with the personnel they have. Three centers, but really none of them are centers. Also, Aminu's absence makes a huge difference because now you got Plumlee/Davis switching onto ball handlers instead of someone like Aminu. That's a big difference there. Stotts has also mentioned the difficulty in changing up schemes in the middle of the season with limited practice time.

I think we'll see massive improvement once Aminu returns and we find a rim protector.

I agree with you about Aminu although it varies with the opposition. Yes Aminu is much more effective against certain teams, but moving Plumlee over to PF looks to have possibilities. At least against bigger teams where Aminu was too small. Ezeli would seem to fix the rim protection issue.....

Jalen Rose said on his podcast he's heard from his sources that he wants to play in his hometown Boston.

Jalen is usually spot on when he says this stuff.

To be fair though, who wouldn't want to play for their hometown team?

All things equal, I think Philly would prefer to trade him to the western conference

And there are reports that he got sent BACK to the DLeague.

It'll be interesting what philly does with Noel before they trade him. It's obvious he doesn't want to be there but at the same time other teams still have to see that he's healthy. I'm sure they would love to just trade him asap but they might be forced into holding onto him until some deadlines pass and that could be pretty uncomfortable.

One way around it could be to trade Noel to say Portland for ome bullshit conditional pick, and then when Crabbe is eligible, Portland trades him to philly for a similar bullshit conditional pick lol.

Edit: nevermind. Forgot we would have to send out 4m. Maybe trade Plumlee/Davis somewhere else.

Sending him to the D League just seems strange. I wonder if his knee/injuries are serious and will continue to be a problem and they are just trying to hide everything as long as they can. Hmmm...I guess teams will find out if they do a physical. Just don't want Portland to trade for him and have him be Festus, or all the other who came before him.

It makes sense to me. They sent him to the D league to get a bunch of minutes of PT to rehab. PT that he wouldn't get with the NBA team.

He's not going to the dleague to play though, just practice.

Brown said he won't be ready to play anytime soon. To me, they just might be keeping him away as long as possible.

He can't practice with the team? Is it because the team has so little practice time because of the grueling game schedule, and the D-L teams have more time between games? It almost seems like they are keeping him away from the team for some reason other than rehab. Are they punishing him? Is he a disruption?

It seems like they are just deliberately jerking him around. Bryan Colengelo seems to be holding a grudge against Noel over his "silly" comment made back in September.

"I think it's just silly . . . this situation that we are in now with three starting centers," Noel said on the eve of the Sixers' media day. "With the departure of [former general manager and president] Sam Hinkie, I would have figured that management would be able to get something done this summer."

He basically also called Colangelo a liar:

"Noel also took the chance to directly contradict Sixers president Bryan Colangelo's recent assertion on The Vertical podcast with Adrian Wojnarowski that he did not shop any of the big men: "I know I was shopped," Noel said."

Of course, Colangelo was also actively shopping Okafor before the draft, so Noel is right, he is a liar.

Ever since Noel's comments, the team has turned a cold shoulder to him. They failed to offer him an extension and have been constantly jerking him around during his rehab. They keep sending him back and forth to the D League on a daily basis. They are calling his D League assignment a "rehab" but refuse to let him play in any games.

If all he's doing is rehabbing, why can't he do that with the main club, with their trainers at their facilities? I would think an NBA team would have better trainers and better facilities than a D League team. I would also think all the time wasted traveling back and forth could be better used getting some PT and time on a stationary bike or in the pool.

Colangelo is just being a stubborn ass because Noel's truthful statements made him look stupid. Well Bryan, stupid is as stupid does, and decreasing the value of an asset you're trying to trade is pretty fucking stupid.

By PT do you mean Playing Time or Physical Therapy? He's not going to get any of the former in the D League, the team refuses to let him play in games. If it's the latter, why can't he get that with the team's trainers and coaching staff at the team's facilities? Or does the D League team have better staff and facilities than the 76ers?

That's what I figure.

On the court time, game and/or practice.

They said it was part of his rehab.

If this is the case, it would seem his trade value would be very low. Maybe we can get a steal with a another 2nd round pick! Dreaming...maybe..probably...
