Scoot and Sharpe in the backcourt?

Or the Anfernee Simons era is coming to an end, if it's decided that Scoot and Sharpe are the backcourt of the future. Dame still has three years on his contract.
The Blazers could trade Simons for a forward and be in a better position to win now with Dame.

Yeah if I had to place money on it......Ant would be my bet if they somehow got Scoot. Sure it is always possible they could trade Dame at the deadline if the next season turned into a disaster, but if Dame is healthy the chances are low that it will. And if he is not healthy who is going to trade for him and his contract?

He specifically said that this is different than 2021.

You guys are frustrating. Our speculation is just crazy, and Dames own quotes don’t mean anything anymore because they were before the draft, but your speculation that’s not based on literally anything factual should be taken at face value.

what I'm saying is that the difference between Dame staying or going won't come down to if Portland drafts Scoot vs Miller (or Amen)

I've said over and over that Dame may ask to be traded sometime this off-season. I think the odds are against it, but it's entirely possible and those odds are probably closer to even than they've ever been

and yes, your conspiracy theory about a lack of Dame pictures at Scoot's workout is a little space cadet

Dame not sitting with Joe during Scoots workout, to me, is no more space cadet than thinking he magically changed his mind after clearly stating that he wanted nothing to do with another 19 year old rookie. At least mine is based on physical evidence…. Or a lack thereof.

(I hope you know I'm just giving you some good natured crap)

Charlotte is taking Scoot, or they are trading the pick to somebody who will. I think that's almost a forgone conclusion at this point.
A lot of people have called Scoot the clear cut BPA at #2 for a while now, the guy's physical talents are obvious and he seems very competitive yet a solid person. I've said for some time I truly hope Miller goes #2 as I'd pass on him at #3.

And we’ll pass on Scoot at 3

If Scoot comes off the bench for Dame & Ant, would we expect more of the same very limited playing time like Shaedon last year?
Depends on if Simons is still on the team, I would think.

And we’ll pass on Scoot at 3
If Scoot falls to #3, I'm pretty sure they'll trade it & hopefully get a nice package back. Several win now type talents (prospects with games that Portland's roster could really use) should be available towards the end of the lotto. I particularly like Walker and Ausar.

If Miller goes 2 and Cronin has yet to find an acceptable trade for the #3 pick, whom do you believe the Blazers would select?

you have to get into the mind of MM...'Portland has a decision to make; what's the worst possible option they could choose with the worst possible outcome? that's the path they'll take, only it will be worse than imagined; also, your dog dies and your car won't start because it needs a new engine'

Boston does not want to trade Brown, and he wants the pay day they are going to give him. Brooklyn does not want to trade Bridges. The Chicago players make me ill. Neither are worth the 3. Draft BPA at 3.
How do you know?

Dog dies? We don’t bring that up around here my man.

More like all phone and internet goes out and the clock expires and we drop down to the 10th pick.

Because reps for Boston and Brooklyn have repeatedly said they do not want to trade Brown or Bridges. As for Chicago, I just started to puke. The thought of DDR or Lavine for the 3 is disgustingly under valuing the 3rd pick. And to add, I have no interest in OG or Siakam for the 3. Draft BPA and then deal with the roster. It is not like Portland will be contending next season with any of the above listed players sans the third pick.

Too many years in Houston will make a brain default to country music mode.

Zero chance (IMO) that Portland offers the 3 for either of those guys.

they may be telling the truth....even though truth almost never comes out of any NBA front office in the period of time between the lottery and the draft

it's simple negotiation 101 to say you won't trade the asset you're actually willing to trade

I believe the Nets they legit want to keep Bridges and I think Bridges likes it there but the thing with Brown is he is not a fan of Boston area and kind of wants out so matter of him playing hardball just not sure he will since he can make a shit ton of money. Now I have heard money is not a deciding factor for him but let's be real it will play some factor and with the Blazer having a owner ( caretaker at best ) at the moment not sure she wants to pony out the money for Grant and Brown or insert another star name here so might be a mute point.

The thing about Brown is that he'd have to ditch a supermax for a max contract it's a pretty significant loss. Maybe he's the type of guy to do that on principal but I don't know how wise that would be. If he gets traded he doesn't get the supermax if he takes the supermax he can't be traded for one year after signing the extension.

As you know, I think they trade regardless. IF Scoot is there at 3 they should take him and trade Dame

Who can give them something they want really?

Maybe Miami or Brooklyn for future picks. Otherwise, just don't see who can give them anything good.

I just don't see Dame being traded if Scoot is drafted. If anything, it just makes it certain they really try to move Ant. That's about it.

I'd have to go back but I think Dame said there were more than just those two teams.

I am trying to find teams that have contracts and picks that might work, these are the only ones that kind of seem like they have it and maybe have some sort of stuff that might be attractive for Dame.

Miami wil have to be Lowery, Duncan and picks, Brooklyn would be around Simmons and the phx picks
