Scoot with FG% of 38.5 and 3p% of 32.5

Sharpe with FG% of 40.6 and 3p% 33.3

Ladies and gentleman, that would be the worst shooting backcourt in the NBA.. They also combine to average under 3 turnovers per game...

Now Scoot gets more of a pass, first year, young, etc....he kind of gets a pass if you ask me....but Sharpe....

Why did Sharpe regress? From FG% of 47.2 and 3pt% 36.0 to those ugly numbers last year...

And don't come with the excuse that he played with Ant, he only played 13 games with Ant.

Scoot also played the first two months of the season without Ant...those stats are even worse than his overall numbers for the year...

So don't put it on Ant...

These guys need to improve for us to start to go anywhere. It's a big year for both, but a bigger year for Sharpe...he needs to improve in year 3 from what we saw last season from him...

Sharpe had the sophomore slump, it's real and most NBA players have it. I expect him to improve and be closer to those 47/36 numbers again this next year. As for Scoot he improved a lot the last few months of the season, and he was, as you rightfully pointed out, a rookie. Scoot also was not ever known for his shooting coming into the NBA, that all said I agree with your overall point. They both need to improve quite dramatically in order for us to be able to go anywhere and be a competitive playoff team.

Yea, but if you look at Sharpe's splits for each month, his stats were more of less the same each month...so it's not just a slump in the middle of the season or so, it was the whole time he played.

His best shooing month on for FG% was Oct in 4 games when he shot 43.3%. The other months he was 41% and under...his best 3% was in December in 8 games, when he shot 40.8% on 3's. The rest of the months he was 34% and under shooting 3's...

Scoot def showing better flashes towards the end of the season, and was a rookie, and his first couple months he was so horrid from 3%, it did bring his overall % down....

But the main point being, people don't talk enough about how much these two need to improve. They harp on other things while ignoring how bad those two shot last year...We all think they have potential, but its been far from realized yet and I HOPE, they both show some big improvements next year.

All fair points, hard to disagree with your take here.

I mean were talking 7&3 picks, at least open better pop or its going to be a long road ahead.

So we're complaining about the guy who was thrust into a primary scorer role at age 20, improved over the course of the season, and then got injured once he hit his stride?

Next...

When did he improve over the course of the season? For a 8 game stretch? That same stretch the only thing that was good was his 3pt%, he shot 41% FG overall that 8 game stretch..lmao

nice try…these guys need to improve point blank.

Wasn't Sharpe injured a large portion of the games he played last season? I seem to recall him playing big minutes, getting hurt and then trying to play through it, ultimately being shut down and then having surgery, no?

takes rookie season and small sample of injured sophomore, makes massive conclusions.. let’s just relax with these hot cold takes eh

He played in 32 games last season; probably 25 of them healthy.

Barring a trade, I expect next year’s starting backcourt to be Ant and Sharpe…and for this place to go nucking futs.

Sharpe got hurt mid way through December....in November, he was completely fine...those November stats - FG 40.4% and 3pt% 33.3.....basically mirrors his overall shooting stats for the whole season...

So explain why he shot that bad in November when he wasn't hurt? I'll wait

relax with these hot cold takes? Have you seen this place over the last couple months and people ridiculous takes? This is far from a hot/cold take, those stats are facts..

So yes, we need to see some improvements from both, and that's also a fact..

haha, this place will meltdown...I am rooting for both Sharpe and Scoot to improve, that's all I want to see next season.

If one or both don't improve their stats, especially Sharpe...then we might have a problem on our hands that people won't want to admit

I can't remember if he got hurt in the Utah game, but counting that and the other final nine games his numbers tanked. In the five games prior to the Utah game where I believe he was injured, he had great shooting splits and was picking up his numbers. He just played 32 games with the last 10 noticeably injured. As I said, the five games prior to the Utah game his numbers were very good. I am not concerned with Sharpe. He should be healed and ready to go.

Point out which game Sharpe was injured in precisely, and let some here vet that. I'll wait as well. Pretty sure he was hurt in the Utah home game, which is midway through December as you say and I pinpoint. And in the five games prior to the Utah home game Sharpe was finally putting up good numbers. Certainly his best stretch of the season. I know that five game stretch, while a small sample size does not fit your negative narrative, but they do show that Sharpe was possibly getting it together and just unluckily got injured leaving his stats as they are for you to make a fuss about. If Sharpe did play in 10 games injured before shutting it down, that is nearly 1/3 of his season. I look forward to a healthy Sharpe and a team that shares the ball instead of me ball. For fun I looked at Kobe's numbers from his second season. He played in 79 games with one start. His shooting numbers were a little better than Sharpe's, barely. But Sharpe still averaged half a point more than Kobe, possibly due to shooting free throws at a higher clip. Sharpe also two rebounds and half an assist more than Kobe showing ability to do more than just score. Sure would have loved to see Sharpe get in as many games as Kobe did his second season. Oh well. And do not roll out the sorry story of me comparing Sharpe to a HOF'er. I am comparing their second season's only as that is all that can be compared. I do not foresee Sharpe being a HOF'er. He does not have Kobe's killer instinct to this point. But his numbers are very comparable and I will excitedly await season three of Sharpe. Unfortunately it will be on a far inferior team to what Kobe had in his third season.

All that rambling and you didn’t even answer my question about why Sharpe had bad shooting numbers in November when he WASN’T hurt, since you said him being hurt was the main reason.

Ya and it’s silly to compare Sharpe second year to Kobe lol.

It’s not worth fucking answering and you know that. Neither you nor I am on the staff. Maybe he was sad Dame was traded. Maybe he was sad Ant was injured in game one. How about he wasnt getting good sleep like Ayton. Who the fuck knows. Maybe he was just in a slump. Fucks sake. What we do know is that in the five games prior to getting injured he was finally shooting well. Overall he was an effective player. Nobody has made an excuse for his subpar shooting to start last season. Everyone knows when he was hurt and playing 10 games injured contributed to his deflated stats. I posit that had he not got hurt you would have little to complain about as his percentages were trending up prior to injury. Sharpe will be fine, but we can sleep well here at S2 knowing we have you to let us know if Sharpe has a bad shooting game like every other 19/20 year old has. Cheers

One is a rookie and came into the league not having a shot really and the other played what 25 to 30 ish games and struggled for various reasons. If this happens again then I might be worried but this story goes the same place as Grant , Ant and Ayton might get traded --- the garbage can

Context matters. For those who watched last season, it was clear he was overplayed because they other guards went down. Then he got injured. Then we pulled him and he sat out.

i dont know why people put these half hazard stats together as if scoot and sharpe played together last season. How many games did they play together to build synergy?

sorry but this is a waste of time to discuss….

I don't waste my time arguing with the disingenuous. You may move along to someone else. Thanks.
You're the one that posted to me in the other thread about your dumb DBPM stats, which are so flawed you looked silly, and now here....I love posters like you that try push back at someone and end up with your foot in your mouth.

So yes, you can move along now.

fan boys are exhausting and trying to change the mind of one is futile.
fan boys hating on Grant and Ant are the ones that are the most annoying and the negative nancys 24/7 in here...so yes I agree

what? YOU said he was hurt and that was the reason his numbers suffered....then I just simply asked then why was his stats bad in the month he wasn't injured...and you cant answer because its the damn truth. then rambled on....

Overall he wasn't effective and the stats show that, but ok..

Yes, oh brilliant one. I am at a loss to match your logic. Thank you for taking the time to educate us all on this vital subject.
