If everything broke just so and everyone stayed healthy and all of the parts gelled quickly and if this team could consistently execute in the half-court or if they could consistently guard the perimeter ... then sure, they could win the West.

Still could, in fact, if all those things happen. So could Utah. Or Denver.

It turns out that NBA seasons don't actually end after 12 games. ;)

Well they better keep believing in themselves. Excepting mediocrity is not something we want. We have very few practices this entire year, its going to take a long time (i'm expecting at least 15 more games) to get this running thing down. We have way to many broken plays/missed opportunities because most of these players are not used to a running style of offense. We miss LMA running down the court so often its not even funny, i'd almost rather LMA stays under our hoop grabs the rebound and his pass starts the fast break. Our half court offense better improve before the playoffs or were really fucked. Heres to LMA developing a face up move like Duncan/KG/Dirk.
 
Today's win definitely helped stop the bleeding. I thought for sure we would lose.

An interesting take form an O-Live post:

the combined records of teams that we have lost to this year is 27-8. This is based on their records at this time whether we played them at home or on the road. Orlando is the only home loss and they are 5-2 on the road while Phoenix is the only team to beat us with a losing record at home of 3-4. Houston, Clippers and Spurs are a combined 19-2 at home. Guess we're not the only teams struggling to beat these teams. We haven't played well on the road but some credit has to go to the competition as well.

Not sure what you are laughing at? Portland has played some tough teams for sure, but our schedule hasn't been nearly as tough as other teams when it comes to back to backs or even back to back to backs. On this road trip for example we get a day off between most of the games, and the majority of our back to backs have been home games.

The quality of opponents has been hard. What I am saying is given our actual schedule, it hasn't been that difficult. We were loaded up on home games early, and on this particular road trip, we get a lot of days off. And up to this point our back to backs have primarily been at home, or at least partially at home.

I know there's evidence that home games give teams a slight advantage, but is there any definitive evidence that additional rest or btbs are noticeably more difficult? I think strength of the opposition is significantly more important in determining the strength of schedule.

All I know is that I would feel better about playing someone like the 76ers at home after 2-3 days rest than I would playing NO on the second half of a back to back on the 5 games in 6 nights road trip


Like Orlando sitting in Portland for 3 days waiting to play us on the second half of one of our back to backs, and they whooped us. Orlando is a good team, but things being reversed, and us having three days off while them coming to Portland on a back to back, I think we whoop them

And I'd still be willing to bet we win more against the Hornets than the 76ers in that situation.
 
Season's over, playoffs start next Tuesday.
 
If we had won both games against Houston, both teams would be 24-24 and we'd be in the thick of the playoff race. Told you the season was over.

We'd also be 24-24 if we'd beaten the Clippers and Suns in the first week of the season, so by your logic things have been all over since January 6.
 
You bump this thread the same day you start a new thread saying 6 of next 7 games at home?

In that thread you say, the SAME FREAK'N DAY you give us this 'told you so':

We have to run the table and win all 7. That would make us 29-26 with a solid shot at playoffs. Three games remaining against Jazz including season finale. Gotta win at least 2 of those but all three would be better. With the addition of Hickson and the emergence of Matthews' shooting, I think we can do this. If Felton isn't cutting it, though, KC can't be afraid to give Flynn a chance- survival of the fittest at point guard.
