It's usually not buddies that turn a perp in so not sure why you made that remark.
I do know that making a city a sanctuary city means it's safer for an undocumented alien to turn in a perp than otherwise.

That's what is scary. Until we catch and fingerprint these people we don't know who they are.

They can sneak in, kill a cop and sneak back home and we'll never know.

So we designate sanctuaries that they know they can hide in.

What's the logic in that?

The only reason given is that people who shouldn't be here will freely report crimes that shouldn't have happened to them because they shouldn't be here.

Manhunt underway for suspected illegal immigrant accused of killing a police officer during traffic stop in California
The suspect sought in connection with the murder of a California cop earlier this week is in the U.S. illegally, authorities revealed on Thursday.

The unidentified man alleged to be behind the slaying of Newman police Cpl. Ronil Singh, 33, “is considered armed and dangerous,” Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson said during a news conference on Thursday afternoon, vowing that the manhunt would “relentlessly continue.”

“This suspect … is in our country illegally. He doesn’t belong here. He is a criminal. We will find him, we will arrest him, we will bring him to justice,” Christianson said.

Singh was shot and killed during a traffic stop just before 1 a.m. Wednesday in Newman, about 100 miles southeast of San Francisco, according to police.

The suspect was stopped by Singh for a DUI investigation before engaging in a gunfight with the officer, during which Singh tried to defend himself, Christianson said.

Singh had called in the traffic stop and reported "shots fired" over his radio a few minutes later, sheriff's officials previously said. The suspect fled when backup officers arrived to assist Singh, who was then rushed to a hospital. He later died from his gunshot wounds, the department said.

Surveillance photos released of the suspect showed him inside the Newman Food Store shortly before the fatal attack. Police also located the truck the suspect is believed to have driven.

Authorities urged the suspect, still thought to be in the vicinity, to turn himself in.

“We strongly encourage him to surrender himself peacefully so we can bring closure to this senseless act of violence,” Christianson said. He added that he’s hopeful law enforcement “may have him in custody sooner than later.”

Singh was a native of Fiji and left behind a wife and 5-month-old son. The officer, who joined the force in the summer of 2011, was remembered fondly by the Newman police chief, who said Singh “truly loved what he did.”

“He came to this country with one purpose, and that was to serve this country,” Chief Randy Richardson said, declaring that “a coward took his life.”

Richardson pleaded for help in apprehending the suspect and urged him to surrender.

“We need closure. His family needs closure,” Richardson said.

President Trump addressed the manhunt on Twitter on Thursday, in connection with his persistent calls for a wall at the southern border with Mexico.

“There is right now a full scale manhunt going on in California for an illegal immigrant accused of shooting and killing a police officer during a traffic stop,” Trump tweeted. “Time to get tough on Border Security. Build the Wall!”

Trump threatens to close border, terminate trade deals, cut aid unless wall is funded

President Trump threatens to close the southern border if the wall is not built
White House says all options are on the table during the border security funding negotiations; Ellison Barber reports.

President Trump warned Friday that if Democrats do not agree to his demands to fund a wall on the southern border, he will “close the Southern border entirely” and cut aid to Central American countries -- while pulling back on trade with Mexico.

“We will be forced to close the Southern Border entirely if the Obstructionist Democrats do not give us the money to finish the Wall & also change the ridiculous immigration laws that our Country is saddled with,” he tweeted Friday morning. “Hard to believe there was a Congress & President who would approve!”

The tweetstorm came amid the partial government shutdown that will soon enter its second week. The closures began last Saturday after Republicans and Democrats were unable to agree on a funding package that would keep the government open and fund Trump’s promised border wall. Trump has demanded $5 billion for the barrier, but Democrats have refused, instead offering $1.3 billion for general border security.

With both sides refusing to budge and little activity on Capitol Hill amid the holiday break, there are no signs of the impasse ending anytime soon. One member of the House Republican leadership told Fox News on Thursday that a resolution may not emerge until the new year.

But on Friday, Trump not only renewed his demands for the wall, but threatened numerous consequences in the absence of that money. He even suggested pulling back on the recently renegotiated North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which now goes by the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

“The United States looses [sic] soooo much money on Trade with Mexico under NAFTA, over 75 Billion Dollars a year (not including Drug Money which would be many times that amount), that I would consider closing the Southern Border a 'profit making operation,'" he tweeted.

“Bring our car industry back into the United States where it belongs. Go back to pre-NAFTA, before so many of our companies and jobs were so foolishly sent to Mexico,” he carried on. “Either we build (finish) the Wall or we close the Border.”

He then said the U.S. would terminate aid with Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, which he said are doing “nothing for the United States but taking our money,” and referred to reports that another caravan of migrants hoping to get to the U.S. is planning on leaving Honduras in January.

“Word is that a new Caravan is forming in Honduras and they are doing nothing about it. We will be cutting off all aid to these 3 countries - taking advantage of U.S. for years!” he said.

Trump has previously threatened to shut down the border, but took no action to do so following those threats. He also previously threatened to cut aid to countries that assist, or do nothing to stop, the caravans. But earlier this month, the U.S. pledged a total of $10.6 billion in aid and investment for Central America and southern Mexico -- as part of a push to promote better security and job opportunities so that Central Americans and Mexicans do not have to emigrate to the U.S.

NIELSEN ANNOUNCES DEAL WITH MEXICO TO OVERHAUL ASYLUM PROCESS, COMBAT 'CATCH AND RELEASE'

A cut-off of trade relations with Mexico could also risk a new agreement that DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen announced this month that calls for immigrants claiming asylum in the U.S. to be returned to Mexico as their cases are processed.

Mick Mulvaney, Trump’s incoming acting chief of staff, claimed Friday on “Fox & Friends” that it appeared Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer is interested in a deal but Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi is preventing it. He alleged Democrats are not dealing because Pelosi is waiting until she secures the speakership.

“We don’t think they will [negotiate] until after the new Congress is sworn in,” he said.

Former Acting ICE Director Tom Homan called out California's sanctuary laws after the murder of a Newman police officer by a suspect who is in the U.S. illegally.


Cpl. Ronil Singh, 33, was shot and killed early Wednesday by a man who opened fire at a traffic stop and fled the scene.


Police are unsure of the suspect's name, but he was captured on surveillance video shortly before the shooting.

Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson told Lisa Boothe that the suspect is considered armed and dangerous and they believe he may have been using multiple aliases.


The suspect may have connections to a Mexican-American street gang, according to an image circulating on social media confirmed as authentic by investigators.


There is right now a full scale manhunt going on in California for an illegal immigrant accused of shooting and killing a police officer during a traffic stop. Time to get tough on Border Security. Build the Wall!

Homan, a Fox News contributor, said on "America's Newsroom" Friday that "California provided him sanctuary" and that Gov. Jerry Brown (D) is proud that local and state police do not cooperate with ICE.


He emphasized that he and others have long warned about these types of violent crimes being committed by criminal aliens who should not be in the U.S. in the first place.


"I've said it's going to happen. I hate that I'm right," he said, noting how local officials - like the mayor of Oakland - have warned immigrant communities of imminent ICE raids.


Homan called out Democrats like Nancy Pelosi for "putting their hatred of the president ahead of" protecting Americans by opposing his immigration enforcement priorities, including a border wall.


"People are dying because of their inaction. ... She'd much rather give this president a loss than do the right thing for the American people," he said.


Singh was a legal immigrant from Fiji who leaves behind a wife and a five-month-old son.


Sheriff Christianson said Singh was known for his hard work, having worked for multiple departments in the area. He stressed how hard Singh worked to become a police officer and to learn and perfect his English.

"Officer Singh is the shining example of what immigration in America should be. ... Unfortunately, he sacrificed his life trying to protect and defend his community," said Christianson, adding that Singh is the Newman Police Department's first death in the line of duty.

They don't sneak back home that easy. I see where there have been undocumented immigrants wanted on murder charges who were caught at the border. Some were turned in while they were in their communities.

Edit: Now, with Trump being the way he is, I'll bet the rate of catching these perps will go down.

This is how you know the wall is bullshit by both political parties.

All the dems would have to do is offer real immigration reform and included in it a guest worker program that allows for workers who now considered illegal to become legal to work here. As part of that status as a guest worker they would be charged an additional federal tax that would go to fund the wall.

Legal Mexicans would pay for the wall.

And we would finally have some sort of immigration reform.

Bottom line SPD is that the senate has had 2 bills agreed on by a by-partisan group and agreed to by Trump only to have him reject it a day later. He actually had 20 billion for his stupid wall about a year ago. How can anyone trust this clown?

This would be fucking scary if Trump is soooo Stupid to do this. It would push the economy off the rails to close the southern boarder and halt trade deals. He could turn his shitty economy into the Trump Depression. He is a petty baby. But the good news is that if he does this, there will be an all out revolt from the senators and some congressman in his Republican party and I figure it will hasten the impeachment hearings. This dumb move would ruin the economy and most likely get him impeached and sent to trial.
 
Trump claimed he'd own the shutdown on camera...said it would be his call...now he's throwing blame at the folks who came to negotiate after he flat out refused to negotiate....Trump is fucking govt workers...not Congress...the wall is Trump's way of saying he'll blackmail the country if they don't fund his shallow campaign promise
 
Our border will be protected now by thousands of steel lightning rods...and by the way...steel can be cut with a torch, hacksaw, Sawzall or any number of tools...I figure on of those steel posts will make a thousand machetes or a couple of plows or half a million bullets eh? Let's spend billions to put American steel in the middle of nowhere for anybody to chop up and sell. Local thiefs in Oregon steal copper electrical wire and steel cable all the time. If it were my call I might use that much steel fixing some fucking bridges or train tracks.

Here's the problem, Sly, the Wall is a total waste of money. Now, if Trump can get either the Mexicans, per his promise, or some of his ardent followers to pay for a virtually useless Wall, fine. Otherwise, Trump should STFU 'cause no one who has the ability to reason can see the value of a useless Wall.
If you want to further secure the border, let's invest in electronic means and increased border patrol agents.

I've never met anyone who is opposed to quality healthcare for all American Citizens.

Just practical, rational people with basic math skills who know a Ponzi scheme when they see one.

40% of all money supposedly spent on healthcare in the US is swallowed up by the insurance industry.

US Citizens get 60 cents of healthcare for every $1.00 they are taxed for Obamacare, minus the insane deductibles.

Adequate Socialized healthcare cannot successfully exist without the complete elimination of the health insurance industry.
