Thank you Barfo, I have been struggling with the wall topic. You just helped me find my position on the topic. But first, a question.

Have you spent much time traveling around any of the countries south of our border?

One thing that stands out is, every one that can afford it, has a wall around their house. And none of these people are movie stars. And most of the walls look the same, except for the super rich.

The walls are as tall as possible, but always too tall to see over. They are made of cheap cement blocks. Barbed wire is too expensive, so they top the walls with broken bottles and sharp glass.

So if they feel safer from their neighbors with a wall around their house, maybe we should learn from them. They know the people trying to break into their homes and into our country.

I do believe there are areas where a new wall, or improved wall, would help keep "some" of the illegals out.
Korea used to do that but now they don't. It's amazing how life can change with a little money.

$5B is nothing when you consider the totality of government expenditures. While I am skeptical of its efficacy I think it should be approved just to get the government back to work.

Why not just get the government back to work without spending the $5B?

The $5 Billion is merely a down payment since a total wall would cost around $30 Billion. I've also heard that Trump hasn't even spent the $1.3 Billion he was allotted in the last budget.

But golly I've got it....we just need to move the Panama Canal to the Mexican border..dig a canal...if there's a river involved that's a game changer! A giant moat we can fill with submarines

This may be the way out. Congress agrees to allocate the money; Trump agrees not to spend it.

Wouldn't it be simpler to move our southern border down to the existing canal?

Yes...Texas just is too big to fill it's own britches yet...they need to let the belt out a few notches

When the wall and open borders are raised together, the debate has jumped the rails.

Trump isn't asking for $30Billion to increase border security, he is demanding the money to build a symbolic monument that can't pass any sensible cost/benefit analysis. You could be a staunch conservative isolationist and still object to wasting public funds on a wall.

I believe there are places along the border were we need to build a wall, and sections with walls that need to be improved. But.

This is a huge problem that is going to take more than a few miles of walls to fix.

What bothers me is the all or nothing position, from both sides.

If the dems do not want a wall, what is THEIR plan to fix the problem? All I have heard is their arrogant stance they will oppose anything Trump wants.

This blanket tunnel vision by the left is not going to play well with the moderate voters next election. Give us a better plan, or shut up.

We have heard this shit for 30 plus years now. Boarder security never comes. Dems always have a reason, even when it is opposite the previous position.

Shut er down, and leave it down until Nancy pukes and her replacement capitulates. This is what Trump was elected to do.
Build the god damn wall.

Is the wall going to stop a terrorist from entering the country? Will it stop drug cartels? Illegal weapons? Human trafficers?

$30 billion to do what exactly? How is this THE #1 priority of the US government? Sounds like you're the one talking shit.

Build the god damn wall.

And when Mexico agrees to pay for it then he can have his "boarder" waall. Money is in the bill for boarder security.

I'm becoming somewhat impressed by what you can find on youtube so quickly

Ever seen one like this in person @SlyPokerDog ???

I did a few years ago in a park by my old house. His owner was about 5'7" and 150lbs.

I coulda bashed that dude on the top of the head and stole his dog. Told the guy I thought about it and he said people tell him that all the time.

I always get my dogs from the shelters but this dog would make me think about paying big bucks.

The same week a guy had a dark brindle French Bulldog in Whole Foods. Awesome dog.

I had a dog that would love to take other dogs on runs at the dog park. Totally self taught but if you gave him a chance he would take the leash the other dog was on in his mouth and just take off running around and around, didn't matter if the other dog could keep up, he would drag it behind him in the grass. Funniest shit ever. Just loved to drag other dogs around by the leash.

My wife had a little old Chihuahua mix we got when we first started living together. It was her dog and her dog only. I was never mean to it or anything but it didn't love me.

There was a big park by our house and I could hold it's leash and if my wife walked away it would point at her like a compass. I could close my eyes and follow the dog right to her.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, read The Constitution.

No, it's you.

MrsPokerDog won't let me get this dog, dammit. Seems like if you put the time and effort into her she would be a fucking awesome dog. Or you could just teach her to kill on command.

If I had no dogs and had a big sturdy WALL protected back yard I'd take her in a heartbeat.

I'd say only 10 percent of the population could even walk her safely.

Cane Corsos are no joke. Amazing breed but you have to let the dog know you are head of the pack.
