Good win. It'd be nice to win comfortably at some point down here, but we aren't playing cupcakes, although some might argue we are with opposing starters not playing. That's a slippery slope though. Does Josh Richardson score 34 points with Embiid and Simmons playing? Does Philly shoot better than 48% and nearly 50% from three with either of those two guys? Two ball dominant players like Simmons and Embiid might not have allowed some of these Sixers to find a rhythm. Bottom line, Sixers still shot and played well without those guys, and we didn't lay a turd, so good win from where I'm sitting.

I don't know how we can make any noise in the playoffs though, without some sort of unveiled weapon. Offensively, I think we can compete, but we would really need a defensive upshot. It could be Whiteside? If we can keep teams from easy scores in the paint, that would make a big difference. Is Little still available? Every game in the bubble it seems the opponent has a Little or three that just out-athletes our guys for loose balls or 2nd chances or deflections on defense. Olshey really need to up the athleticism of this team, among other things. Little showed a little of it earlier in the year, maybe he could be a catalyst. That's probably it for potential unveiled weapons.

Great post! I agree that we are highly unlikely to beat the #1 seed... most #8 seeds can't beat the #1 seed for some of the reasons you listed above. It's probably fair to say that the Lakers would like to play us the least of all the possible #8 seeds because we have a couple guys who could get red hot and steal a game here or there, but ultimately, this is a 4-1 type series at best.

I'm not as big on Little as most people here, mainly because of his offense, but being able to play someone with his athletic abilities would certainly help us on the defensive end.

Did I miss something last week is Whiteside injured? He hasn't played last two games. I've lots of shit going on i missed the memo.

Hah lame guess some times sandbox isn't big enough at times

That game was rough. I know we're capable with this team as is of playing much better, just look at the Rockets game. The fact is we did get the win and now we just need likely 4 more in a row. Our team is capable of it and I actually think we will do it. I kind of wish Stotts had the guts to bring CJ off the bench, if the guy isn't scoring well then all he is is a defensive liability. We all know CJ will start so I hope he finds a way out of this slump. Honestly everybody but Dame and Melo played like shit tonight and Dame could have done a better job taking care of the ball or... maybe... our offensive genius head coach could design an offense that does more to help out our best player against blitzing traps but hey as someone said in here before Stotts is going to Stotts. We will get the win against the Mavs and it should be an easy one (if there is such a thing) if the Jazz will just beat them tomorrow. Lets win these next four or three and get in the playoffs. Go Blazers!!!

How much better is this team with the return of nurk and collins? Not nearly as much as i expected. Same stuff, needing monster games from dame to eek out wins vs average/bsf teams.

We’re much better (maybe 10 games) but problem is we were a 35 win team without them.

He's one of the top coaches in the NBA.
And he has lead them to 4-2 in the bubble against what is possibly the toughest schedule of all the teams vying for the 8th spot in the west.

You mean like how Denver was missing 4 starters, sat Jokic the 4th qtr and sat MPJ down the stretch?

Or how the Clippers were missing Kawhi, Beverley, Harrell and sat PG and Lou Will down the stretch and had no intentions of winning that game.

Or how the Sixers were missing their 2 franchise players in Simmons and Embiid.

Got it, got it, got it...

told you bud @CupWizier

wah wah wah. We were missing Nurkic, Collins and Hood for pretty much the whole season and we were missing Whiteside, Hood and Ariza the last two games and the last two for the whole bubble games and needed to make up a 3.5 game deficit in 8 games. You don't like it, then maybe there's a team for you elsewhere. Tired of the fucking loser whiners in this forum always down playing victories.

Next.

Your participation trophy lover I can tell

And he has lead them to 4-2 in the bubble against what is possibly the toughest schedule of all the teams vying for the 8th spot in the west.

And his old assistant is 5-0 with what was supposed to be a worse team. I would take all the bubble records with a grain of salt.

I agree, on needing more athleticism. It's kind of funny, but suddenly we are looking like kind of an old team.

Always fun to read the Game thread. You guys were pretty much jumping off cliffs. Gotta remember to never doubt Lillard.
Glad they pulled out a win on the second of a B2B they needed. Of course we all wish it was easier but it never gonna be easy in the bubble.

Some things i am noticing.
- There are no fans and there is really no home court. Seems this bubble experience is much different from playing on the road or in front of your home crowd. Even rotational players seem to be hitting shots they make in practice.
- The calls don't seem to be the same either. Refs seem to be calling games better for the most part. Yes there have and will always be questionable calls. But they are not getting caught up in the hype.
- Have you noticed players cannot look up at the big screen above the game like in regular games. When there is a call they cannot argue as much because they can't look up and see a replay. I like that aspect.
- I like the calls on players talking back to the refs also. The game is basketball so go play the game. T a dude up for running his mouth.

Parts of the bubble are much different. I think we are seeing a much better brand of basketball and the playing field is much much closer in this situation. I wonder if it will continue in the playoffs?

 I've been saying this for awhile now. Some fans like to talk about how young the team is, but the rotation isn't young at all. The youth (eg Simons, Little, Gabriel, Brown, Hoard) isn't playing. The obvious exception is Trent. Even Collins has the end of his rookie deal in sight.

And his old assistant is 5-0 with what was supposed to be a worse team. I would take all the bubble records with a grain of salt.
His old assistant has had a much much easier schedule. Also they are not so much worse now they are healthy also. Booker is playing very well.

Such a polite way of saying he is butt-hurt.
nurk even said today in his postgame how he was thinking about potentially resting this game because of the miles he's putting on his body, but after losing yesterday and seeing Hassan out again today, he said he had to play. Said he was really sore, but knows we need the minutes.

As if Whiteside couldn't get worse in my list of most hated blazers ever, but this about does it. I get his injury might be a concern, but WTF man. You teammates need you and you don't give a shit seemingly. He better be behind Wenyen in the rotation from now, even if he's healthy.

Its not that tough when star players aren’t playing

I agree. Embiid was 1-6 before he left the game. The bigs that hurt the Blazers most are the ones who shoot a lot of 3s.

Crazy thought: Whiteside is not gonna play a game for the Blazers anymore to not hurt is free agency. Think about it..

Dude, you predicted we wouldn't win anymore games. :biglaugh:
And? Barely beating teams playing their third-stringers means what to you exactly? Championship? WCF run again? Please, in your infinite wisdom, please share what their 4-2 record indicates to you, since you know so much about basketball. Go on record and predict where this team ends the season. Miss playoffs? First round loss? Second round? WCF? Finals? I’ll wait.

But, in the interim, keep standing on your soapbox and pretending like you know everything. What you have shown time and again is your blind adulation for one of the worst coaches in pro-sports in Terry Stotts ... it borders on hysterical at times.

I think he’s injured. Teams don’t lie for a quitter. Whiteside isn’t worried about free agency. He has a large sample of him killing this season. Teams know Nurk came back and Whiteside HAD to go to the bench. Their not dumb

didn't Dame miss about 7 games a season or two ago from a hip injury?

I don't know what the 'real' situation is but there seems to be a lot of assumption Whiteside is just dogging it instead of having a legitimate injury. Is there any evidence of that rather than some people just not liking him?

we could really use him against Dallas
