11 of the last 13 champions have ranked in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive efficiency in the regular season, the outliers being the 2004 Detroit Pistons and the 2010 Lakers. That Pistons team, the one that added Rasheed Wallace at the trade deadline, ranked 18th in offense, while the 2010 Lakers ranked 11th in offense.
Today, only three teams -- Golden State (2nd and 1st), Atlanta (6th and 6th) andPortland (8th and 4th) -- rank in the top 10 on both ends.
